The Black Series has finally landed. After months of teasers San Diego Comic Con marked the initial release in this new Star Wars line, giving fans highly detailed 6 Inch Star Wars figures for the first time. Hasbro kicked it off with a kick ass, special edition set – Boba Fett with Han Solo in Carbonite. We’ve done up a gallery of the set for you, make sure to read on for a quick review and 80 high resolution images.
Rapid Fire Review
Overall – great set, must buy. I am not a Star Wars collector. I’ve always been a fan of the movies, but I never got into collecting the figures past 8 years old. I came back to Transformers, but recently I’ve been grabbing more and more lines from different companies and properties. I’ve found I prefer a higher priced, less frequent release than the bulk “this is for kids and collectors at the same time” type figures. Lots of the SH Figuarts, Play Arts Kai, DC Collectibles type stuff. So, when they announced the Black Series, and 6 inch at that, I figured this would be a perfect way for me to get some Star Wars love on the shelves without jumping into 3.75, or the crazy priced Sideshow stuff.
The figure is solid, has tight joints. You even hear some clicking which is nice. The hip joints are a little pushed out, doesn’t allow for full range of poses like Marvel Legends Spidey for example, but it does well. Double jointed knees, ankle rockers. The belt pouches go down past the upper thigh swivel, so you gotta pull that up a bit for forward poses. These are all just nitpicky things tho. It feels great, and overall poses well. Paint apps and detailing, as you will see below, are top notch. Packaging – this is the SDCC special edition, and it delivers. Nice sturdy box, black on black matte and gloss, embellished inner logo.
The Han Solo is cool, but it’s just a light/hollow brick. The molding could be better, seems a little off on first glance. BUT, nothing to complain about, doesn’t make it any less of a buy. He’ll be behind Boba off center, does the job for me. If however that bothers you – the wave 2 Boba Fett without Han is perfect for you. 20 bucks as opposed to the SDCC one going for 150ish on eBay.
Bottom line, fantastic. Grab it. Enjoy the pics below!
