Hadouken! Today we are taking a look at another Ryu that recently dropped State side, Storm Collectibles Street Fighter V Ryu. This is a faithful interpretation of Ryu from the current Street Fighter. It’s a large 1:12(ish) scale line that keeps the exaggerated bulk seen in game. Question is – who’s Ryu is the best: S.H. Storm Collectibles Street Fighter V Ryu

Wow, feels like I just did this. :). Storm Collectibles Street Fighter is a whole other line from SFV giving us modern figures. They are 7 inch 1:12(ish) scale and bulky, separating themselves from previous offerings and specifically the current S.H. Figuarts versions. They keep the look of the game intact with their muscular stance. There is a paint or wash over almost the whole figure, giving it a refined look. The upper chest and neck use a rubber molded layer that is a bit squishy to the touch, allowing for bending without seems and differentiating from the other plastic on the figure. Articulation is there at all key points. It features an SHF style head swap, and hands pop on/off via peg in standard fashion. The crotch features a floating rubber centerpiece with legs attached to ball joints on a cross bar to allow for range of movement.
The two key unique features are the stand and energy blast. The stand features the SFV logo as the base and is sturdy with a click joint extension. Held this heavy figure well. The energy blast for Hadoukens is handled differently here, as you can have him actually holding it without a stand. The fingers slide into slots on the blast and if done just right, he can be poses in release mode with it. It was a pain in the ass to get right, but once in there he can hang Hadouken all day.
Overall it’s another solid Ryu. I was looking forward to this one more than S.H. Figuarts originally because I liked the bulky style. After having both in hand, I’m slightly leaning towards S.H. Figuarts just because the range of motion is better there. Visually, and shelf stance, Storm wins though for game accuracy. So pretty damn close, just depends on what your personal preference is. Either are solid buys!
