And now Avengers 71. And this is an important book. Why you ask? Because this is book 40. I have only 199 left to go. Dropping below 200 seems like a big hurdle for me. I have 6 books on the way so I am doing pretty well.
Avengers 71 "Endgame" Writer Roy Thomas, Artist Sal Buscema, Inker Sam Grainger Ok it all starts with Black Knight running down the stairs in his castle in England. He calls upon his ancestor Sir Percy of Scandia. Sir Percy gives the Knight the low down of what happened the previous issue (It is up above) and lets the Knight the weight of his actions. The Knight now understands. Meanwhile in the future Kang curses the day he met the Grandmaster and wishes Ravonna was better. He snarls and stalks away to encounter the Grandmaster. They use a video screen to look back onto 1941 Paris. Black Panther, Yellow Jacket and Vision have arrived. They quickly beat down some "goose steppers" when a ball of fire comes out at them. In a portal stand Captain America, the Original Human Torch and Namor. The Invaders call them Nazis and battle ensues. While all this is going on Sir Percy uses his power to send the Knight to the future with the connection to the Ebony Blade. (wow ghosts are powerful) When the knight gets there he finds the Avengers in a stasis field with the Ebony Blade just left lying on the floor so it can easily be found and used. A couple guards jump out and Black Knight seeing the plot device grabs the sword and reflects the guard's beams back at him. The panel showed two but Black Knight is so awesome one just ceases to exist. Dane hears a noise coming from the wall and cuts it open to find the Wasp alone in a room. In the sixties females are helpless and she could no do anything to help herself until a big strong man rescued her. In the past the two groups battle hard until the Vision passes through the trio of Invaders just solid enough to stun them. The Avengers win and are brought back in time. Kang is triumphant and as he is about to chose the power of Life to save Ravonna the Avengers bust in and Kang is angered. He begs the Grandmaster for the power of Life and Death but when told he could have one decides that he will find a science to save his woman and chooses Death. He then uses the power to try and kill the Avengers. He lets them hang onto the edge of life so he can savor it when the Black Knight rushes him (plot device man) who vanquishes Kang. Since he was not an Avenger Kang's power didn't work on. Grandmaster takes away the power and sends everyone to their own time with the team making the Black Knight a member. And because he is a member in 45 issues they will fight the Defenders because of it. But that is another story. And now let's see the cover. |

Incredible Hulk time!!
Ok it's Hulk 112 "The Brute Battles On" Writer Stan Lee, Artist Herb Trimpe, Inker Dan Adkins Ok for some reason the Hulk has been kidnapped to an alien planet. The Princess of the planet watches view screen and sees him. She then switches onthe audio beam to hear the battle between the Hulk and the Galaxy Master who looks like a rift in space with teeth. The Hulk jumps at him but is hit by a blast of primordial energy (Stan's words not mine) and drops to the ground. The aliens are happy until they realize the Hulk is not defeated. The Galaxy Master takes the shape of a large blue creature about four stories tall. It has large cylinder hands that is uses to batter the Hulk but he still lives and jumps at it. It dissolved in front of the Hulk and the troops are hopeful the Hulk is chasing off the tyrant but no it comesx back as a bunch of attack worms and swarms Hulk who picks up a starship and drops it on the worms killing them and makeing "The ATomics Fuel Tanks have Exploded!!" But they Hulk survives. The Galaxy MAster is upset and says it is time to end it. The Princess realizes that it is the time to rebel and get's her troops but her uncle who wants her thrones sends a trooper to rat her out while getting his own troops ready. It turns out that creature "was spawned in evil, with creatures of evil -- a thousand universes away!" Turns out he destroyed his people and other planets from place to place until he found this planet (I haven't learned the name yet) and they fell over kissing butt and he was incharge. She takes her troops onward as the Hulk is blasted on and on and is covered in cloud of foaming toxi gas and he falls. At this time the people attack just as the spy goes to rat them out (who is killed for his effort) and he blasts them back. The uncle shots the Princess' ship making her fall to her death when the Galaxy Master grabs her and pulls her into his orrifice. The Hulk sees it and jumps into the beam to find the Galaxy Master who is a computer in a device that looks like straws in a geo-sphere around it. He and the Princess falls back to the planet and he saves her. The uncle runs away and falls down a crevice that was made by the tyrant. They say the Hulk has a place but not there. They make ready a ship to take him elsewhere but they need to adjust the cabin pressure and atmosphere which will take half a day. The Hulk is impatient and he goes in leaving the planet because he can handle it, but then he tuurns to Banner who says "The Air--too thin--for me to breather--!! And -- the pressure--more--than I can --bear--!" |

Yes it was. A Grandmaster and the other Elders would be nice. I have a few Thor's but the story looks to be jumpy so I want to get some in order before I read them and post them. It is about Galactus' origin and starts in 160 and goes through 169 but has a couple detours in the middle (Adam Warlock) I have 162, 165, 166, 171 so I need the 160, 161, 163, 164 to make it a bit coherent and work on the second half after.

Ok a Special treat now
Spider-Man Eye Magazine Promo I had never heard of this before and the first couple times I looked nothing then last week it was there. I thought it would be the hardest to find but I have it now and I am glad. "Birth of a Hero" writer Stan Lee, Artist John Romita Ok this is a short reprint of Amazing Spider-Man 42 so it is missing alot of stuff. It starts off with Spider-Man leaving a bank with a bag. Everyone sees and he is called a meance. Jonah is bitching to his son John about it when John is effected by "space spores" and mutates. The government, instead of locking him away to be used, is concerned and help build a suit to regulate his power. John then takes it upon himself to stop Spider-man who reveals he was at the bank when his Spider Sense went off alerting him to a phony bag. He determine in had a ticking from it (spider hearing) and came back as Spidey to get it and throw it in the water. John attacks and they battle for a while. Spidey after getting beaten on uses a power line to shock John and clear him of the "space spores" and gets away. They find out that no bags are missing and the agents are glad they have lost a valuable resource such as Jameson. Last edited by Kaewin; 03-22-2012 at 09:07 AM.. Reason: spelling |

For those counting that is 48 books so far 193 more to go. I will get up the other ones that I have not yet done. I am waiting on the Thor's because they are a long story that might no make sense if I jump back and forth. Also I got in 5 reprint books and they will take a while. I will try to dig out issue numbers besides titles if I can.

Ok it is time to go green.
Incredible Hulk 117 "World's End" Writer Stan Lee, Artist Herb Trimpe Alright, the Leader has taken over General Ross' army base with the plan to launch an atomic missile so that it will come down and start world war three. He will hide in his bunker until it is over and then he will rise up and rule the world. And the Hulk is caught it plasto-thene. It looks like silly putty but stronger. Betty pleads for the Hulk and the Leader mocks him and her. Hulk gets mad and busts out, now it is time to kick but. But the Leader has a robot called the super-humanoid (clever isn't he) to fight the Hulk. The Leader uses a special beam and send the pair to a far away tropical island where they fight. It takes the Hulk a while as the robot has plasto-thene on it too. He beats on it, hits it with a palm tree and finally throws in into a volcano and smashes the mountain on top of it burying it. he then jumps to shore. At the same moment the Leader hits his button the second time and launches the missile. The Hulk is so powerful that he jumps from a desert island to the base in New Mexico is mere seconds to find out the what the Leader has done. The villain flees to hide in his bunker while Betty calms down ole greenskin so he becomes Bruce. Bruce knows of a missile he designed which is here on the new base. Betty takes him to it and they launch the anti-missile missile. Like the Hulk it moves at superspeed and destroys the Leaders atomic missile. The Leader sees this deduces there are no more Banner Missil and launches another. Betty and the Hulk see that as he destroys the Leaders machine. Betty convinces the Hulk to jump on the missile to destroy it. This missle moves faster than the last and in a mere two panels (with the Hulk on it) flies over Moscow. Quickly the Hulk pulls the missile up into the air where he caught in the explosion which blows the Hulk out over the water somewhere near New Mexico because the Leader destroys the evidence of his tricks and flies away on a rocket. I know what you are thinking, yes New Mexico is land locked and hundreds of miles from the Pacific ocean where the Hulk must be thrown. This bomb blast was so powerful it threw the Hulk there but did not touch the ground. Isn't that amazing. Good ole Stan physics. The cover Last edited by Kaewin; 03-24-2012 at 09:34 PM.. Doctor Strange 183
"They Walk by Night" Writer Roy Thomas, Artist Gene Colan, Embellishment Tom Palmer Doc is flying through the night trying to puzzle out the events of the last couple days. He received a telegraph for Stephan Saunders. It turns out he outed himself as the Master of Magic and Eternity has conspired to adjust the universe for this. He has given Strange an id of Stephan Saunders. This was Doc can hide when need be. It is so complete that even old documents have the new name on it. An old friend needed him so he went. When he got to his friends place he found a butler and body guards. His friend Kenneth Ward was an adventurer and never need such luxuries. Strange senses something wrong but goes in. He find Ward in a wheelchair with little memory why he summoned Strange. He seems dazed and weak, Strange suspects foul play and stays for the night. After he is locked in his room he makes an illusion of him and flies up to Ward's office. He can tell there is a spell and he uses magic to get through it. Ward relates that months ago he was in the Himalayas when he found a temple Three evil statues leared down at him when he found a smaller statue that he takes home. Just then "Three Creatures of the Night" come in and Ward says "We who serve the Undying Ones." It is his "servants" . They ture out to be evil creatures of some power and jump Strange and are almost as powerful he is but sensing their words he calls forward daylight which destroy them. They say "Beware the Wrath of the Undying ones" and fade away. Strange looks over to his friend to find out he is dead. the battle was too much a strain so Doc will finds the idol and carry on. Then the book advertises the next issue to be "The Searchers" but it turns out the series was cancelled. I don't know if they finished the storyline but it looked good. Well have to dig around sometime. |

Hulk 121
Ok another of Hulks I have. I am getting a few more next week and I will get to those after. "Within the Swamp, There Stirs...a Glob" Writer Roy Thomas, Artist Herb Trimpe The Hulk is super jumping up from South America when coming by Florida a missile is shot at him. Well not at him they were testing it out and Hulk jumped in front of it. The controllers see him on the radar and assume it is the Hulk, damn they are good. The missile is remote detonated and ole Jade Jaws is knocked into the swamp. Lucky for Thunderbolt Ross he is airborne and decides in his Ahab like way to get his forces to the area. The Hulk awakes ...as the Hulk (which really should have made him Banner) and finds a shack, spazzing out he destroys in knocking chemicals into the swamp. Turns out a man died there escaping from the police. the radioactive chemicals, dead guy and swamp goo becomes a swamp creature. Huh just think this is copied later by both Marvel and DC so Roy was onto something here. It the little while the Hulk was out Ross' people show up and comb the swamp, when he is seen Ross has Major Talbot hold Betty captive in a hotel room. The Glob sees it and stalks forward reliving his final moments. Meanwhile somehow the army, in such a short time, has outfitted heavy tanks to travel threw the swamp land. They don't sink and get mired in the goop. Aircraft come flying down at him too. The Hulk hits the ground and shakes it so bad the tanks lurch up in the air and shoot at the planes. Unseen the Glob stares in the window of the Hotel when Betty sees him and thinks it is the Hulk and opens the door. The Glob grabs here and slaps Talbot to the ground. Talbot runs into the swamp and finds Ross and tells him what happens. he claims that the creature can't be stopped by the Hulk, Ross sheds a tear. The Hulk lurks and sees the Glob and attacks but gets beaten down. The Glob heads into the water where the army is pour chemicals made to destroy radiation in an effort to get the Hulk, and mutate all kinds of wild life and it starts to melt. It holds Betty up to keep her out of the water. The Hulk climbs a tree and rescues her. Just then the army shows up and Talbot tells them to open fire but Ross let's him go. The Hulk moves on and laments he could have been friends with the Glob. |

Thor 160
The first of a run I have, when I get the ones in the mail I will lay them out and do a Thor Kind of thing. "And Now Galactus" Writer Stan The Man Lee, Artist Jack King Kirby, Embellishment Vince Colletta Thor is in the city when he sees a spaceship and takes to the air. It turns out to be a Rigellian Colonizer. He swears they have not come back to cause trouble but to get Thor to aid them. He says there is dire need that only Thor can deal with. Without finding out what it is he goes. Meanwhile in Asgard a Recorder is there talking to Odin, the All Father is impressed with the machine when a signal from Rigel to go deal with Galactus! As Thor and the Rigellian fly through space the ship is hit by a rock man needing the ship himself. Funny though when he breaks in from space there is not a suction effect (but the piar had Johnny flying through space on fire in FF 93). This creature is very strong and Thor cannot drop it with one blow. The Rigellian uses a mental bolt but it doesn't work. The Odinson hits the creature a couple times and it goes down. When it is calmed down it reveals the destroyer of worlds came by and did just that. they are looking for a new home world and Thor says he will help them. In space Galactus ponders what to do saying he hates no one he just does as he must. And then he finds Ego the living Planet. Thor has come to Rigel and meets the Recorder and they will join together to deal wit the menace. They leave and not unnoticed. Another race sensing something good follows them. Thor Finds Galactus and Ego fighting and the small ship is destroyed. The Recorder and Thor drift in space. I will do the next part when the next issue shows up. |

Ok like I said I would put up Hulk 114 but I need to do 113 first.
113 "Where Fall the Shifting Sands" Writer Stan Lee, Art Herb Trimpe Banner is on a rocket that the Hulk jumped on in Hulk 112. (see above) He is having a problem breathing so he opens a gamma furnace and exposes himself to it to change. Meanwhile a figure in a trenchcoat buys a paper talking about a rocket with a space warp drive. (they were so advanced in the 60's) It turns out to be the Sandman in his crappy costume the Wizard gave him. He wants to steal it and figure out how to get to the Negative Zone to free Blastaar. I am not sure where he got so smart because when he was a Spidey foe he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Anyway he heads to the base. The Hulk lands and destroys the ship but gets jumped by Sandman who he outfights. What I wonder about is how the Sandman turned into a giant rolling pin to run over the Hulk, where did he get the mass? Seeing he is losing Sandman tricks Hulk to go to an nearby army base to get the rocket and the Hulk does and is attacked. He fights the army while Sandman steals the rocket and would have gotten away with it until he nearly hit Betty's car. (Also on a weird note Hulk calls her Betty Brant). Sandman fights Hulk who uses a piece of metal as a fan to chase off the villain. The general goes to thank the Hulk for saving Betty and the rocket but he flees. Meanwhile the Sandman vows revenge. Hulk 114 "At Last I Will Have My Revenge" Writer Stan Lee, artist Herb Trimpe The Mandarian saw the battle of last issue and decides to get revenge on the Hulk (not sure why) and decides to enlist Sandman. The Hulk hops away and then changes back to Banner and walks off into the woods (I thought Ross and soldiers were in Arizona but the pics show all kinds of plants and water). The Mandarin finds the Sandman and they both posture but Mandarin does it better so Sandman joins him. Meanwhile at a missile base in the great south west The general berets his daughter and then leaves.Banner sneaks over the wire and past the guards to see Betty (how? He doesn't have those skills) and goes to talk to her. But he was seen and Talbot rushes in with troops. These guys haven't got the memo not to upset Banner because they do. All he wanted was to get a lab and get a cure. Hulk goes wild and outside with Betty following. Mandarin drops a gas bomb and scoops up Hulk and Betty. They fly minutes away past a forest and a lake and the Hulk is put on a table with energy to keep him from getting away. It feeds back his power to be used against him and he is cool. What confuses me is that he is unconscionably for a while but doesn't turn to Banner when he should have. Hulk is fine until he sees Betty and he freaks out breaking free. He fights Sandman who does his best to beat down Jade Jaws. After trying to bury Hulk they grab the girl and threaten to throw her into furnace of some sort. The Hulk uses his thunderclap effect to break some cables. Mandarin gets pissed at Sandman and knocks him into the furnace and flees. The Sandman gets out but is turned to glass. The Hulk wants to hit him but Betty says he is not a murder and Hulk agrees. He goes to leave but is shot by a ray gun and knocked out thinking Betty betrayed him. Just a couple thoughts. The Mandarin did nothing to fight the Hulk with his rings. He has all of this power but he hid behind the muscle. I would say dumb but Sandman is smarter than he was. Also there was way to much flora to be in the desert. Ross is everywhere. In some issues he is in FL and others here. I wonder why. Also the Hulk does serious fighting but a ray gun knocks him out. Seems feeble/ But the covers again |

The origin of Captain America written by Stan Lee and Art by Jack "King" Kirby. It is a shame they didn't have Joe Simon write it. If you have seen the movie it is pretty much the same basics except it is Dr Rhenstien
