Dear Hasbro,
Can you please make a 25TH Anniversary G.I. Joe Sgt.Slaughter/The Fridge Comic Book 2 Pack! I think I heard that Hasbro can't get the license to Sgt. Slaughter because another toy company owns the rights. Does anybody know the deal on these two figures?

Unfortunately, in a Hasbro Q&A, they confirmed that WWE still holds the rights to the Sgt. Slaughter character, so any new version has to get the ok from McMahon and co. But I think the Fridge is free.

I would buy this in a heartbeat. Make it a 3 pack with Mr. T and it's a done deal. Perhaps when the WWE license moves from Jakks to Mattel, There will be a small window where the Bi h could offer the sarge.
I guess for now I'll have to be satisfied with my custom Sarge.

Fridge should be okay. The NFL will license almost anything.
That is why I am making my custom Slaughter fig, I know he most likely won't happen. |

The way it shakes down on the Sarge is this: WWE still retains rights to that character. Jakks Pacific has the current liscence for WWE figures. When that liscence expires in 2010 it will go to Mattel who has already sowed that deal up. There is no way in hell that Matty will let Hassenfeld do the deed.
As for the Fridge, it's anyones guess, but I wouldn't be suprised if at some point they did set us up with one given how well suited the Bazooka body would be to it. And of course, there's mine: Last edited by Alyosha; 11-24-2008 at 08:54 PM.. |

If the new DCIH figures are any kind of success, I wonder if Mattel will consider expanding use of that scale with WWE figures. In that scenerio, we could end up with an officially-licenced, in-scale Sarge that wasn't done by Hasbro. Maybe a quick redeco for the uniform and voila!
Nice work on the Fridge custom, Alyosha! I especially like the studs on the flail and the gapped teeth.

If they did a 2 pack like that I would poop my pants with joy and start slipping and sliding around in it.
