I personally feel that Let Me In is the best vampire movie ever made. (It's one of my altime favorite movies now)
Daybreakers was a surprisingly fun movie for me. It really took a whole new and different spin (At least to me) on the whole vampire thing. If we're just getting more gothy or emo vampires (At least Angel and Spike were pretty tongue-in-cheek about their brooding and emo), then I really do find them to be the most boring subjects altogether, as I said in an earlier post. But if someone finds something new and different to do with them, then I'm able to enjoy it a lot more. I'm not as turned off by them as I used to be. Used to, if you told me a vampire was in it, I would not have anything to do with it.

Let The Right One In is the original foriegn version. For those who've seen one, but not the other (I myself have only seen the american)... I've been told by a couple people who've seen both that it's almost an exact scene for scene remake. The only real difference I'm told, is they made the vampire's gender less ambiguous. I swear, between this, Kickass, and one other thing that elludes me ATM, Chloe Grace Moretz is one of my favorite actresses now.

Man Selene (underworld..um...quadrology??) kicks ass, shes efficient, merciless, yet sexy and vulnerable too, definitely a stand out Vampire character, another quality vamp for me is Spike: the guy is basically Billy Idol with fangs, what brit WOULDNT like him???
My all time favourite vampire though is Jared Nomak from Blade 2,i just think hes the perfect vampire, brutally efficient, horrifically strong yet still very noble despite being infected with the reaper strain. and i dont know if any of you guys own it,but the soundtrack from the Queen of the Damned movie is AWESOME vampire music, with a great line-up of rock/metal vocalists singing the songs from the movie. And speaking of movies has anyone seen Priest yet?? What were your thoughts on it if you have?? I really really liked it,especially the fact that it was set in a time that seemed to encompass virtually all my favourite genres of film, but wasnt sure on the whole vampires as animals idea, and i thought Karl Urban was a little over-zealous with his bad guy acting.....

I fucking love Selene in the Underworld movies...there's a series that deserves the action figure treatment...I could see Neca doing it. As for Priest...it's got good action and nice effects but there's ZERO character development. It really doesn't do anything to make you care about the characters

I liked priest .. Western futuristic vampire hmm just gotta like it .. But then again I'm a vampire nut .. As for the soundtrack Love It ! One of my favs .. Just love when they play the song "change" by the deftones .. I think Jonathan Davis wrote some great lyrics to that soundtrack !
On another note anyone seen the new pictures for the new Tim Burton vampire flick called "Dark Shadows? It had johnny depp, Johnny miller from hackers and Michelle pfeiffer .. Looks interesting |

Also loved the soundtrack to QotD. Not so much the movie, but I liked it a hell of a lot better than IwaV. Dracula 2000 had a nice soundtrack as well. Quote:

I've read about it. Waiting to see what Burton and co. do with their interpretation. It's my understanding that this is a psuedo-sequel to the TV series.

Right, if I remember correctly the Queen of the Damned soundtrack was composed by Jonathan Davis and other metal singers from that time did the vocals. I liked the soundtrack a lot, and I would always make mix cds with some of those tracks tossed in. The movie was bad though, I mean the premise of it was that a rockband's music woke up Lestat, wtf?

Glad you enjoy them, but I feel vampires are the most overused and overrated of all.
Though, I'll be honest and admit most of that has to do with pop culture, Twilight, Nightworld, Anne Rice, and douchey little vampire kids who think they're so goth and vampires are so misunderstood blah blah blah, once again all resulting from Anne Rice. The message of this story is Friends don't let Friends read Anne Rice! I do feel there needs to be a resurgance of the more terrifying, hidious, and oldschool types of vampires. Red Court vamps are typical vampires that die in sulight/holy water/ empowered symbols (crosses, etc.) and look like beautiful humans but are secretely hideous human sized bat things inside a "skin". They have super strength and speed but lose it all if they get shot in the guts, as it's all about how much blood is in their bellies. They see humans as cattle and have a royalty caste system with nturally born vamps at the top and turned humans at the bottom. White Court are the pretty vamps- succubi that drain life force through intimate contact. Sunlight means nothing to them, they're beautiful in a supernatural way and have speed and strength, etc...but they go through their reserve of strength quickly when injured or doing above human physical feats. They kill their sexual partners- it's not Twilight in any way: people are food. Humans cant become White Court vamps- and births are rare. Black Court vamps are the undead horrors that live in crypts and graves- like zombies with super strength, speed, etc. Many know magic after being in existance for hundreds of years. They're the most dangerous, as they feel no pain and can continue just fine even with massive damage. Whats cool is that the three Courts hate each other- with the BlackCourt almost wiped out thanks to the White Court having financed and published vampire-slaying guides like Bram Stoker's dracula! Really, stop whatever the hell you're doing right now and go buy/steal all of the Dresden Files books- it's 6:37 A.M. so you may have to break into a bookstore, but it's worth it. Get going. |
