I used to think "hell nah I'm not getting one", until I realized that apparently you can read thousands of issues going back decades! Once I realized that, I figured it's a cheap and efficient way to catch up. Plus, whenever I bought single issues, they usually went into a polybag after 1 reading. I'm usually a trades guy now.
Thoughts?

I think there will always be a market for comic books.
People will always want to have something physical in their hands. Atleast as long as our generation survives.

I have considered it but you would have to be in front of a computer or laptop. If they ever brought the service to a hand held device or tablet I would totally be in. Currently the iPhone app only has digital download.

I have one and I love it! There are more comics on there than I could read in a lifetime. I am quickly running out of storage space, so I like being able to read comics without buying them. It has also allowed me to catch up on all the years that I was out of comics.
All of that being said, it does lose a little bit of that special "something" when you are reading a comic on a screen rather than actually holding it in your hands.

Being a webcomic enthusiast, I've never minded the screen factor to it.
I like it. But it's missing stuff. For instance, the old 80s run of Wolverine isn't up, the Cloak and Dagger series is missing, bla blabla. AnYthing 90s-2000s is probably there but before that, only really big titles are. |

I love it. It's the easiest way to get caught up with (fairly) recent stuff. All the Nova, and Guardians of the Galaxy stuff, which I wouldn't have normally read, Is there in full, and it's all amazing. Most of Xforce 2008, newer Daredevil, tons of stuff to read if you haven't been keeping up the last 10 years. figure that even if the comics are only worth a dollar nowadays, you will most likely make that up in the first day or 2, so I think it's totally worth it.

I have one and I enjoy it. Like others have said it's a great way to catch up on stories or start a series I may not have otherwise read. I'll always buy physical copies of comics, but digital is a great way to go as well.

Okay, so what do you get with a subscription?
Access to Marvel's library? What about individual issues of new series?

See to me this has more pros than cons, and isn't it able to be viewed on a tablet? I will always prefer physical copies but tracking down all those old issues would take time and money. Plus as said earlier, I prefer trades to single issues.
In no way would this prevent me from buying physical books, I'm still going to buy trades.

I bought it for the archangel. But I must admit it is nice to have. I buy about 30-35 comics a month (about 85% Marvel) but even then I'm missing 2/3rds of what Marvel puts out each month, so this is my way of catching up for a cheap price on books that I would never buy otherwise.

All of that being said, it does lose a little bit of that special "something" when you are reading a comic on a screen rather than actually holding it in your hands. Btw, I'd love to see DC and Dark Horse follow this same model since I'd gladly buy online subscriptions for them as well...

I think it is a great idea, but having to zoom in on panels is kind of annoying. The amount of stuff that you have access to is amazing though, and I'm not discouraging anyone from using it. I'm glad someone mentioned tablets because I haven't tried that yet, I might give it a shot this weekend.

I love my Marvel Digital account. Got my gf one too and she loves it. I only buy trades and hard covers anyway and still do. But the only TPB's and HC's I buy are of my favorite characters only or a story I really liked and wanted to own for the collector's extras.
Marvel Digital has introduced me to characters and story arcs I would have otherwise never read because I wouldn't have ever spent the money to get them nor did I have any interest in investing in valuable space for storage. Here's some great news for those of you on the fence about getting one and for those of you who have one. Starting Jan. 2012 Marvel Digital gets same day releases as print just like DC's digital plan.

They're not going to respond. Just jump on it. They said it would be available til 2012 and I doubt he's exactly a hot commodity.
