Hi I was talking to a friend about this and thought I'd ask here.
Anyone troop build that's not a Joe or Star Wars collector? (The sw part wouldn't fit in the title box, even collector became guy, not a slight to the good Star Wars folks) |

Ok so you are a joe and Star Wars collector too.
I like the idea of an army of krypton. But I'm a total articulation snob I passed on batman GL spidy IM3 and looks like wolvie2 line. Thanks for answering. And good luck with the kryptonian army. I've seen them at big lots too if that helps. |

yea thats where i got my mine. i can be a bit snobby for certain lines. im so use to mattel's looking like this that it doesnt hurt as much as the im3 line. i do some halo but since i wait for clearance or discount stores i dont always get what im looking for in those lines. i wish marvel u would drop more packs like the shield/hydra/hand guys those packs were great.

Shield TV show. Maybe I just hope they articulated. I'm so sad about the IM3 and wolvie lines.

I troop build certain characters in the MU verse. I've been army building Skrulls, Frost Giants, IM2 drones, SHIELD agents, Hydra troops, Chitauri, Sentinels, the Hand, and AIM.

Skrulls are my largest army but I do have a nice squad of clones too. Never see enough of most MU figures to troop build. I have 3 AIM soldiers but those are all I ever saw.

Aside from what the title of the thread is, I troop build Skrulls from MU & Avengers. I only have two Chitauri that hang out with Loki LOL...
I do have a five man squad of Hydra Soldiers from the Cap line too...

Used to, for Turtles. Feeling that it's not all that it's cracked up to be, though. Might be letting those Foot Soldiers, Mousers, etc. go.

I was troop building Multiple Man when I was collecting Marvel U. I also troop build with some Transformers. For that I have a few Scourge's for a Sweeps army and few Wreck-Gar molds to have a number of Junkions. I was happy they used that mold a few times.

Non-Joe and -Star Wars troop building I've done:
Junkions (Generations Wreck-Gar and Junkheap) Vehicon Squad [Deluxe] (Transformers Prime 1st Ed Vehicon x1 and PRiD Vehicon x3) Vehicon Infantry Units (Transformers Prime Cyberverse Vehicons x6) Any troop building I've done has usually been small-scale and based on a particular theme (there's a couple Joe and Star Wars ones I've done too). I've never gone to any great lengths with it, though, because of the rules I have set for my collection.

I did a little troop building of the 3.75" endoskeleton Terminators from the Salvation movie when I saw them on clearance at TRU. Picked up maybe 6 or so of them over the course of a few visits.
They come in handy as generic robot goons. |

I've done a few. And usually only where appropriate.
DCUC: Manhunters- x4 Transformers: Classics Sharkticons- x3 Classics Junkions (from Scrapheap) x3 WoH Scourge and Sweeps- x4 (Counting Scourge) Animated Autotroopers- x3 Character Builder Doctor Who: Daleks- x9 Cybermen- x7 Weeping Angels- x5 The Silence- x5 I want to troopbuild: TMNT Footsoldiers and Kraang, but haven't pulled the trigger yet (don't even have one foot soldier) JP Pachyrhinosaurus, but at $30 a pop plus a worthless human, can't justify it CB DW Sontarins and Silurans. Being UK exclusives, this is really hard. Only have the others thanks to generous friends over there.

At what point do you consider it army building? At best I have 3-4 probably of things that I'd like to have as troops. I have Transformers Junkions: 4 Wreck-gars and 2 Junkheaps probably. I have 4 JLU Paradaemons. I probably have a decent Orc/Troll army in LEGO but they aren't really all the same.

I have massively scaled down my troop building ...what i do still do besides joes are TFs (Vehicons), Turtles (Foot, Krang), MU (Shild, Hydra, Aim, Hand ninjas, Frost Giants, Skrulls, Ultrons, Doombots ) and a few others that may even things out.(MOTUC Palace Guards) I like my shelves being symmetrical so i have cut down to only 2 or 4 troops, 5 if i plan on modifying one to be a squad leader.

My personal definition of army-building is when you have two or more of the same toy (or remolds, thereof), and the media associated with it usually shows that toy/character in groups instead of on its own. But there are usually variations within the media for specialists/commanders, so you don't necessarily have to reuse the exact same toy/mold. For example, your Junkions and Parademons would certainly qualify for the first part, while your Orc/Troll army would qualify on the second part. Quote:
Now your Sentinel army, OTOH....

I wasn't much of an Army Builder at first, but several years ago, when american figures were cheap in Japan, I used to buy one SW Confederate Droid everytime I went to Tokyo. At the 7th one, I thougt it was great, and it made me confortable with army building.
Except SW, I built: DC Crisis: Luthor Trooper x3 MU: BAF Sentinel x4 Thor movie Frost Giant x2 (waiting for 3 more) I'd love to find more Frost Giants (the darker blue ones) but they're not that cheap. I'd also buy many skrulls from Avengers (only got one); I passed on Chitahuri since they're ugly and not much articulated. My dream would be to find some cheap AIM troopers, IronMan2 Hammer Drones, Giant-man Skrulls and Frost Giants (the big ones with Loki) and buy 2 or 3 of each. I'm also considering buying an army of Cobra goons if they're discounted.

Recounted 35, one I took apart thought I was going to cast it but never did so I am putting him back together.
And apparently the amount of toys you need to buy to get a figure with 2 of the same hands is 35. Wish they had made some kind of APC space ship for these, also made a custom leader figure Ol' Lefty is second in command. |
