DSTChuck: The final development of this item is still underway, when we have something from the factory, we’ll show pictures. No the scanner will not be “motorized”.
Eric Walters (#1) You said that the stickers would be water application decals. Well… I have an issue with that. water applied decals ware out and fall off half the time. and they don’t last long either. (But thats been my experience atleast.) I’ll go ahead and get a set of them anyways and see what happens. (#2) Just as a headsup. They need to be free of charge and free shipping. I can’t justify spending 5-10 dollars on a decal sheet. I’m serious when I say that. DSTChuck: Eric, I’m not sure what else we could do then water stickers for such a small run and hopefully with the instructions we posted folks will have no problem applying them. I’ve done lots of models and generally have very good luck with the stickers staying on. Hopefully by now you have read the web story with the details of the offered and were pleased to see that essentially these are free to fans. Chris Coombs Do you think we may ever see as a two pack? 1) Kirk & Spock from “Patterns of Force” 2) Pike & Spock from “The Cage” w/jackets 3) Generations Kirk w/ Ambassador Spock Thanks DSTChuck: Chris I do think at times we have discussed a couple of these but I can say these are not in the plans at this time. Alex Rosolowsky Hey Chuck, I noticed that in the past two months there have been questions regarding the DST Enterprise-E, and potential reissues. Thus I have a few questions (in order of priority,) regarding potential starship reissues, especially reissues of the Enterprise-E, and a few related to the TWOK 1701. 1. Now that the stock from the most recent run is exhausted, would DST consider reissuing the Enterprise-E again in the near future? 2. If the Enterprise-E was reissued, would DST consider updating the ship in any way? I know that the ship used “rice bulbs” instead of LEDs; for example, would a reissue contain LEDs? Would DST consider some minor retooling, for example, to add blue LEDs to the warp nacelles? 3. You mentioned that you might consider a “deluxe” line one day, would you consider launching such a line–featuring the aforementioned fan requests–with the Enterprise-E, perhaps as a reissue? 4. I heard that the TWOK 1701 is definitely being reissued; will DST be taking steps to reduce the severe light bleed of the initial run? 5. Speaking of the TWOK 1701, is there any chance of seeing the 1701-A reissued? After all, it uses the same mold as the TWOK 1701. 6. Is there any chance that the “lights-only” feature could be worked into the TWOK 1701? I’m aware that this would require some minor retooling, but I’d definitely be willing to pay extra for this feature. 7. According to the date on the bottom of my NX-01, 2012 will be the ship’s 10th anniversary of the Art Asylum release; would DST consider reissuing the ship in that year? Finally, I just wanted to thank you for your time, and to congratulate DST on its continued effort with the Star Trek line. DSTChuck: Alex I’ll try and take these in order. 1. YES once any ship runs out of stock we consider running more and ask sales to gauge retailer interest, the E falls right in that category. 2. No we would not make changes like that, the ships have to stay within a strict budget and decisions like that are part of the process. Many times re-running the exact same item costs DST more. It might be because our re-order is less then our initial order or the cost at the factory have gone up or new testing could be required. Changes like you suggest could only be done for some sort of “Dlx release” 3. I have no idea what item would lead off a dlx line, we’ve had no real discussion of such a line yet. 4. We’ve seen some reports of the light bleed yes and we’ve made the factory aware of the issue so they will do all they can to reduce it. 5. No plans right now 6. Pretty much same response I gave to #2. 7. Right now we have no plans to re-issue the NX-01, sorry. Don Wilson Any chance that AA/Diamond Select may consider producing a Star Trek TOS NOMAD product (from the TOS episode “The Changeling”)? It would be a great item and would be easy to make. Have it have coordinated sound and lights effects (same as shown in the episode) with a bank of sound clips from the episode. Could make it in nearly any scale but suggest no smaller than 8 inches tall. Please add this question to the next BLOG and Q&A. Thanks! DSTChuck: Don right now we have no plans for that, sorry. Ronald Cook Why is the paint job so sloppy on the Star Trek Science Tricorder disc compartment? Seriously, mine will require a re-painting to look half convincing. The hand held device looks like a cheap plastic flashlight. I realize this isn’t a Roddenberry or Master Replicas model, but A.A. has a reputation of excellence for an affordable price-right out of the box. Both, the Phaser and Communicator, look authentic and proved that quality doesn’t have to cost hundreds of dollars. But the Tricorder just doesn’t compare. Any Ideas? DSTChuck: Ronald , seems from the feedback we’ve received that most fans are very happy with the item. Please keep in mind each one is done for the most part by hand. Because of that there are bound to be some inconsistencies. If your not happy with a DST purchase bring it back to the store for an exchange or a refund. We stand behind all of our items. Joh Fech Hi, I own almost your previous ST ships, and am very pleased with them. I am eagerly waiting for the Excelsior and Enterprise B. Any more info on when they will finally hit the stores? The Pre-orders I saw listed Third Quarter of 2009 and now we are in First Quarter of 2010, I understand the wait on getting it right, I just am curious as to when we will finally see them. Thanks! DSTChuck: If you saw a pre-order date it was NOT by DST. We are not going to officially announce our next replica or ask fro orders until the manufacturing process is well along, so please be patient. David Dayoub You guys seem to be on this “Where No Man Has Gone Before” kick, with your recent announcement of the pilot Kirk and Spock 2-pack, free pilot Sulu, etc. Since the bodies are all basically the same sculpt, have you thought about finishing the male crew and giving us the first Gary Mitchell figure? Lee Kelso? Scotty? Dr. Piper? Dr. Boyce from “The Cage”? Maybe I could at least convince you to do a Gary Mitchell Scotty 2-pack? Or Gary Mitchell and battle-damaged Kirk in pilot outfit 2fer? DSTChuck: I will say we’ve thought about a Gary Mitchell figure MANY times… David Dayou Any more aliens we can look forward to? Primarily, I’m interested in Andorians, Tellarites, Bele from Cheron, the Mugato, female Romulan Commander, Excalbian. Also, how’s the outlook for a Koloth figure since you have the sculpt for the Klingon body? And a Colonel Green figure using the same sculpt you did for the red-suited Khan? DSTChuck: Right now alien figures seem to be a struggle for us. Not even the much requested Salt Vampire came close to hitting producible numbers. We’re going to keep trying though. Damon Klempner Hi, Im really happy to see that were getting the new neck decals for the ent d and I hope I get mine soon so it completes the look, Anyways I was wondering if there were any new developments with the Excelsior and Enterprise B ships process and if we can expect any new pics coming our way. I really can’t wait to see how these ships will evolve and turn into the final released products. Also Put my vote in for the next federation ship to be DS9’s Defiant!! that should be a pretty good ship for fast and easy manufacturing! Defiant all the WAY!! DSTChuck: We’ve started to send out the decals for the D so hopefully you have yours by now. The CAD file for the B is pretty much done! The NY team is just fine tuning it now- but we’ve still got a ways to go. Defiant is pretty high on my list as well so we’ll have to see. Cameron Zickrick I am having problems with the enterprise D, when I removed the saucer from the ship the lights and sounds stopped functioning, now it looks like a couple of the leads on the bottom of the saucer are broken. The only thing that lights are the main dish and the two fronts of the nacelles. Is there any way to fix this or can I send it in to be fixed? It worked fine until a week ago when it started to malfunction after I separated the ship. The leads shifted positions when I put the two pieces of the ship together and took it apart again, and now no sounds come out. very frustrating. DSTChuck: Its possible you could use a fine flat head screwdriver to straighten them or contact our customer service for a possible replacement. DevilDog Doyle With the announcement of Playmates Toys’ to include TOS in their Galaxy Collection at the Dallas Fall Toy Fair, how does this affect DST’s license? Does it diminish it at all? Has DST’s license not been renewed? Thanks. DSTChuck: Gee not sure– maybe its none of the above and Playmates and DST cooked something up….Hmm…time will tell. Roddy DeHart Is the Romulan commander from the TOS episode Balance of Terror still on the list to be made? DSTChuck: Still very much possible. Michael Trombley I have seen Entertainment Earth advertise a re-issue of the Wrath of Khan NCC1701 16″ Enterprise. Is this true? I don’t need a date (they say october 09), but I am just curious as I see nothing about this on your website. If it is true, I will preorder it. Otherwise, I don’t want to get my hopes up. I’m all for it, so I hope ts true. DSTChuck: YES we went back into production for some more TWOK Enterprises. Rustin Parr Playmates recently put out a press release that announced a 3 3/4″ TOS line (”And for the first time ever, Playmates will introduce 3.75″ GALAXY EDITION action figures and diorama’s based on the classic Star Trek series. These figures will be highly detailed with authentic life-like likenesses and feature over 16 points of articulation. Iconic scenes from the most popular episodes will be depicted in two-figure pack dioramas.”) What does this portend for your own license (which I thought was a master license to all pre-2008 Trek)? DSTChuck: Hmm interesting… John Burk Hi! Love what you are doing in the Star trek lines! I got the “Where No Man Has Gone Before” Sulu with the first season of ST;TOS Blu-Ray discs. I see that Season 2 will be available soon. Will there be a mail away figure in that set? Are there any more planned mail-away figures? Also, let me put in another request for a figure list/archive, especially for these mail away figures! I almost missed the Geordi figure last year. Thanks! John DSTChuck: Right now there are no more mail away figures in the works. Scott Russell I and some of my customers were wondering if there were ever going to be other Star Trek Ships made beside th U.S.S. Enterprise. Many of us would like to see the T.V. and Movie version of the Kilngon Battlecruiser, the Kilingon Bird of Prey, the U.S.S. Reliant, the S.S. Botany Bay from the original series, ships from Deep Space Nine including DS9 itself, ships from Star Trek Voyager, ships from Star Trek Enterprise, the Galileo 7, and others from the various movies. Also, we would like to see somne of the original series Battlestar Galactica ships/vehicles and. Have you ever looked into any of the Gerry Anderson shows? There is plenty there to make ships and vehicles from and there are fans out there that would buy them. Thank you. DSTChuck: There is a Klingon ship in the works right now.

Klingon ship "in the works". Well that narrows it down a bit.
I'm really curious about the Playmates line, since it seems DST was unaware of it. That, or they were just being coy.
