I was actually thinking he might be one of Zuko's offspring. Amon said someone once took his face, and Zuko once had his dad do it to him so maybe this guy screwed up so bad even Zuko couldn't forgive him. And since Zuko's dad was the first to have his powers spirit bended away maybe Amon convinced Aang to teach him the technique before he fell out of everyone's good graces?
Lol, I hope its not one of Aang's sons.

This was a very fast and short season though, will there be a new episode next week? Kind of glad the bending sport is done, and we can move on to the really good stuff.

i feel like amon used to be a bender but aang took it away so he spent his life devoted to finding out how to do it. there's that brief shot last ep where korra has a short vision of aang with a 'stacheless beard against someone who i imagine could be amon. since it seemed like it was relevant to the bender sports bombing situation while amon was giving his speech to the audience.

Since they're Korra's flashbacks, then they're from Aang's perspective. it's really really hard to tell what's happening since they happen so fast. But we clearly see Toph arguing with someone, and another airbender who looks like a younger Tenzin, but at the same time doesn't... attacking our POV. It flashes so fast that you automatically think it's a younger tenzin. But then when you think about it, that doesn't make sense. Why would Tenzin attack his dad? Not saying it isn't possible to be Tenzin... but I'm trying to keep an open mind and think outside the box. Quote:

Wild theory I know, and probably wrong. BUT THAT'S WHAT'S FUN!

I thought the face stealing spirit took his face too at first, but for some reason I remember that monkey creature in the spirit world back in the last airbender series couldn't make any noise because his face was gone. I didn't take Amon losing his face literally as a result and more of a V for vendetta explanation instead.
I almost feel like he was someone who was very close to Aang and that's how he learned spirit bending before going bad. The way the council members talk about him its almost like they know who he was before he wore his mask, so its doubtful he's Aang's son or they would be addressing him a bit differently when he comes up in conversation. Or at least I would expect so, lol. I'm curious to see how Toph's daughter got her scar and I wonder if she got it from Amon in the past. I like how we get teased with Korra's Avatar Aang visions. I can't wait to start hearing some stories from the council members hopefully that will reveal some of the events that happened between Last air Bender and this series!

Yeah, he was *definately* close to Aang. He had to be. And While I was getting the snece out of the last episode that Tenzen and Lin know Amon personally, rewatching the episode before it, I'm absolutely positive they do.
If we find out that Tenzin actually knows how to spiritbend (And I'm almost willing to make a bet that he does, now), then that'll give more support to my theory. Because I could see Aang teaching his children how to do it. But not anyone else. Either way, I'm certain that Amon either killed Aang, or is indirectly responcible for his death.

I would have expected by now that Tenzin would have been completely aware of anyone else in his family being able to spirit bend. If you recall, when Korra first told him what she saw, Tenzin directly stated, "that's impossible, Avatar Aang is the only bender who had that power." He either lied to conceal a family secret (I also hear there's a future episode titled "Skeleton in the closet") or was genuinely in disbelief that it happened. Now I wonder if the fire mobster who scarred Amon's face and murdered his family was in any relation at all to Fire Lord Zuko?! All in all...I love this series so far.

But... He states in "The Revelation" that his face was "stolen" by a firebending mobster who extorted and eventually murdered his family, which is why he formed the Equalist Movement.

Now I wonder if the fire mobster who scarred Amon's face and murdered his family was in any relation at all to Fire Lord Zuko?! All in all...I love this series so far. I never watched Avatar until it was all on DVD. So I could go back and rewatch things. This it's hard to keep track of things that happen three, four, five episodes ago when that's approaching only five minutes of story a month ago. But then, Amon could also be lying about that. As for Zuko... I'd honestly be surprised if any sort of bad guy (mob bosses, what have you) have any relations to Zuko or Azula. Why? I think making the badguys of this series related to the badguys of the last series to be a little too on the nose. So I don't think the writers would go in that direction. This series is just so different from Avatar! Avatar was very straight forward, and very point a to point b. There was very little mystery, and little to speculate on. But Korra is shrouded in mystery, and only seven episodes in we're already seeing nothing is what it first seemed to be. There's lots to speculate on, lots to really consider. Lot's of fun stuff! There are a lot of really great shows that I feel like I enjoy more as I'm watching them (Thundercats, Young Justice), but that's an instant gratification. With Legend of Korra, I'm not as anxcious to get to the latest episode... and I don't enjoy it as much when I'm watching it... but it's Korra that I spend the most time thinking about when it's not on. Korra is far more satisfying. And I find the characters far more enjoyable in the long term, too. There's not a single character in Korra that I don't like. Many I were luke warm to at the start are now favorites of the series (Tenzin continues to get more and more interesting), and some, like Lin, are threatening to become absolute favorites for the entire franchise. And I *love* Probending. I wish that were a real sport.

Series has really lived up to it's expectations, but as of next week, it's over.
Next saturday is the 1 hour season finale. I guess everything they said, about expanding the season to full length was wrong. Because this isn't even a full length season by animation standards (The animation standard for a full season is 13 episodes. 26 episode seasons like Prime and MLP are very rare). This will have been only 11 episodes. -=sigh=- I have to say I miss the "filler" episodes, that would have explored the supporting cast, and the world.

I agree that some filler should be added for character development, it did feel rushed, but I prefer it rushed and direct than full of fillers... I guess you can't have it both ways.
The show is still good, the only thing that bugged me really was the fact that Mako got over Asami so quickly. |

My source this is the end, is because they said it's the season finale. End of season. It's always been my experience that "Season Finale" means "The end of season." Meaning there will be no more episodes this season.
My source is nickolodeon itself. Which is in direct conytrast to them saying at comicon last year it's been expanded to a full season on par with a season of TLA.

My bad Jetty, I mistook your statement to believe that it was the end of Legend of Korra in general, no more episodes "series finale". Yeah definitely end of season, with another one coming.

Lol I'm just sensitive about all these series cancellations these days. Every time I get into a show I like it seems like the plug gets pulled. It just ain't fair. The hell with elections...give me my cartoons!

I'm a bit sensative about all these exceptionally short seasons. For the past several years, any series that's any good seems to only have half a dozen, to a dozen episodes in a season. And a few (Doctor Who, and Walking dead) split them in half with an insane length of time between them.
So Korra not even getting the standard 13 episode season (Especially after everything I'd read made it sound like it had been expanded to a full avatar season) really strikes a sore spot.

Alright CJ, I'm on board with your theory that Amon is Aang's son after yesterday's episode. Because to be Aang's son means he is also Kitara's son, and Kitara is the only bender (other than Aang in Avatar state) that we've seen resist blood bending prior to Amon doing it.
I feel like out of all Aang's kids, Amon was the only one without air bending or water bending talents...but Aang secretly developed and taught him Spirit bending with strict guidelines on never using it unless absolutely necessary. What could be more necessary than losing faith in your own father's justice system he worked so hard to maintain when your family is killed by fire bending gangsters? Taking matters into your own hands by taking away their most lethal weapons makes sense at that point. Anyone else notice how Amon has taken the powers away from pretty much everyone who's attacked or crossed Korra so far? Wonder if that's more than just a coincidence?
