Seems like it. Two different TRU's only had this box each. Could they have gotten Wave 2 boxes the first outset?

I just want a movie Cap in his Avengers costume. I'm perfectly happy with they Thor and Iron Man from their respective lines. Hope he's one of the ones released on 2/27th.

Well you're in luck, he's packed two per case in what is either wave 1 or 2 (what PeteParker and I are currently trying to sort out), but he'll definitely be out in that first push on 2/27. He's already showing up in some Toys R Us stores. If history has taught us anything, you will be seeing plenty of that figure hanging on pegs for the next year at least.

Yeah actually they could have, especially if Hasbro is planning to release the first two waves at or near the same time. It's not common, but it happens sometimes. When the Iron Man 2 line hit, waves 1 and 2 of the movie line launched together (not counting the comic series wave 1), and for the first couple weeks after launch, some stores only had one or the other. I remember War Machine was technically part of Wave 2, but that was the wave that was hitting Walmarts first in my area.
I thought you meant you saw a wave number printed on the box. Did you? It looked significantly different than the MU boxes I've seen in the past. All of the writing is tiny and I didn't see any specific mention of a Wave or Rev, which I've seen before on MU, Cap, and Thor boxes. It remains a mystery... |

Rocket Grenade Captain America has not been released yet, even though it's on the back of some Wave 1 cards. It's certainly not in the box I got the first set from. Do you have a Rocket Grenade Cap? |

EDIT- Looks like HTS changed their listing. They now match BBTS. Wave 1 R 2 includes the concept and comic series figures, and Wave 2 includes the movie series, with some of the concept/comic carried over. EDIT 2 - Rocket Grenade Cap is in the same case as Super Shield Cap (comic series). Is that what you saw? Last edited by FallenOne; 02-07-2012 at 02:42 PM.. |

Unless you found a different case revision than the ones listed online, this is again confusion around what is "Wave 1" and "Wave 2", even though both will apparently be launching at the same time (just like several previous movie lines). Rocket Grenade Cap is not in the same "Wave 1" case as the "Movie Series" figures (Shield Launcher Cap, Hulk, Shock Strike Thor, Mk VII Iron Man). Depending on which website you believe, Rocket Grenade cap is either part of "Wave 1 revision 2" or "Wave 2" (that's how BBTS lists them, HTS lists them oppositely). Regardless, both of these waves are apparently trickling out already, so I'm sure they'll both be launching at the same time.

Wouldn't surprise me. I have little doubt that in about two weeks, stores will be buried in both of these first two waves. Everyone (including me) will scramble to pick up Loki, who is packed one per case, and then the pegs will remain full of all the other figures for months. Sometime around May or June, maybe July, we'll see wave 3 start to show up online, but it will likely include one each of Widow and Hawkeye, and 3 more each of Cap, Thor, and Iron Man, so exactly 4 cases will ever make it out to retail. The Widow and Hawkeye will sell for $50 each on ebay. Then around next Christmas, wave 4, which will be all glow in the dark repaints of Thor, Cap and Iron Man, will start to hit Toys R Us. Then the next Marvel movie will come out, and the entire process will start over again.

This whole sinario is what's making people quit collecting MU. But then again collectors are not the primary focus. Yet with lines like MOTUC which is dependent on collectors we still get jerked around. I only want that Ultimates Thor and Loki. The rest can and will sit thanks to the Fallen One. Thanks for the great read and prediction.

The real question is, how do we combat this situation? As collectors, we can't really buy boxes and boxes of Waves 1 and 2 just to ensure we get Wave 3 locally. Does anyone have any ideas? Oh, and I wanted to mention that there is a glaring plot point spoiler on Cosmic Spear Loki's spear. Don't look too close or you'll get spoiled. |

You should put this in a time capsule and re-read it in a year. I'd put money on you being right about it.

You guys found me out, I'm the ghost of Marvel collectors past... from the future.
Sadly, I don't think there is much we as collectors can do about it. Especially since Hasbro just stopped answering the Q&A's about a year ago, and obviously has no interest in maintaining a collector relationship with the fans for this line like they do for other lines (Star Wars, Transformers, Joe). Hasbro will use the excuse that these figures are targeted at kids, but they do fail to see the logic in releasing more expensive, inferior versions of almost identical products that can still be found hanging on pegs from the prior year. They also fail to adequately account for the number of adult collectors/buyers. Without us, I have little doubt that the Marvel lines would fail utterly and be canceled. I almost never see kids looking at the Marvel figures in the aisle. They're usually looking at Bey Blade or something similar. But you know who I do see regularly going through Marvel figures in my area? Other adults like me. It's a vicious cycle that ultimately results in collector frustration, kids that don't care, because they've moved on to something else long before wave 3 with the one new character ever hits pegs, and eventually, clearance and discount store sales, which must be causing SOMEONE to lose money, whether it's Hasbro or the retailers. The one thing we can do, unfortunately, is pre-order and buy what we actually want online. Unfortunately, that sometimes means buying an entire case, and having to figure out a way to dump all the carry-forwards (that's the only way I got Kings Loki and Laufey. Ordered a case, sold the rest for a little below retail on ebay). I can see why a lot of people don't go this route though, it's expensive and hugely inconvenient if you only want one or two figures from the case. And the dark art I most closely study is called "internets". |

The order report that On-Line and mom & pop retailers received was suspiciously absent of a 0000 wave 1 assortment. They were offered a 0001 Wave 1 rev 1 and 0002 Wave 2 assortment.
My guess is that they Big Box stores were offered the 0000 Wave 1 assortment first and they've sold through..... |

Not to worry- the mom & pop retailers will scalp the big stores as they would have anyway.

I'm going to make sure I did what I did with Thor and preorder the later waves so I don't end up paying scalper prices. My Sif ended up costing about $14 by getting it on BBTS, which is pretty good when you look at the ebay alternative.
