Awesome stuff, I'd heard there was something like this in the pipeline. I've not seen Frontier so the background info is much appreciated

Basically, the main cast of Macross Frontier is part of a PMC named SMS(Strategic Military Services), which is hired by NUNS(New UN Spacy) as an escort group in case something big goes down and the NUNS can't handle it, and to test out the VF-25 Messiah(NUNS at this point is using the VF-171 as their main fighter, a cheaper variant of the VF-17 Nightmare with flight controls that are easier to use, and better performance in the atmosphere, however it is less capable as the specialized VF-17. Kawamori Shoji has stated that he wanted the hero valk to look much different than the plane it was replacing, therefore the VF-171 was used instead of what many fans expected; the VF-19. There are other reasons but I can't remember everything at the moment). SMS has their own little Macross named the Macross Quarter, which due to it's size, is much more agile than other Macross ships, yet packs a powerful punch. There has never been any Macross ship like it before. The previous Macross ships were large, lumbering, hulking masses of destruction that were oft slow and cumbersome. The Quarter is the exact opposite. The Quarter docks to the Frontier fleet, the NUNS/Frontier fleet has a Macross of their own called Battle Frontier, which is like the typical, huge Macross ship, not as agile as the Quarter but much more powerful. There is speculation that the Battle Frontier will be made in the DX line. It is much, much larger than the Quarter and is not used much in the show until the later episodes.
The Quarter's alt mode is that of a big carrier, whereas a typical Macross is a huge battleship with carriers for lower arms. That should give you a sense of scale, basically think transforming Promotheus from SDF Macross. The height of the DX is said to be 20cm, not sure if that is in carrier or battroid mode, and the magazine articles in japan state that there is a specific reason for the small size, which will be revealed at a future date.
