This is pretty self explanatory. What do you think of the wave 1 Batman? I'm wondering this because I'm one of the few DCUC collectors that has NEVER gotten a Batman. It's at the point where I'm going to pick up the first one I see. And since the Toys R Us down in the city does carry Batman Legacy, I figure I can easily get the Wave 1 Batman. But should I wait for a different Batman instead? I love the body mold and all that but the face bugs me (probably bugs everyone). I can't decide if the face is "Angry Drunk Batman" or "I need my Preparation H Batman". So all in all, I was mainly wondering if the figure is good enough to look past the face. Or is the figure okay and the face just ruins it? Thanks for the help.

It's a great Batman...once you do a head swap. Everything is just about perfect on him except for the constipated face he's making. Everyone I know that has it has done a head swap with another DCUC Batman but since you say you don't have any other Bats figures I honestly don't know what to tell you. What I did was give him the Batman Arkham City two pack Batman's cape with a Batman Begins Movie Masters head (the only head I had that fit properly and looks good).

It sounds to me like you already kind of know what to expect. I actually really like that Batman. The does bug me a little, but it's not a deal breaker. The figure is a great sculpt and the colors are perfect.

Yeah honestly I was probably going to pick it up anyways. Just for the simple fact I'm desperate for a Batman. I was just waiting for someone to really talk me out of it lol. Batman Legacy figures up here go for $20.99 (Which is $21.47 American) and with my taxes it would probably bring it close to $23.00. So buying this Batman is sort of a big decision, but like I said, I'm desperate.

Shouldn't this go in the existing Batman Legacy thread?

Ouch. Yeah, that's not cheap for one figure.

Yes and no. Yes because it's obviously a Batman Legacy topic. No because this is more of a personal problem than a general discussion. Know what I mean?

Yeah it's definitely expensive for a DCUC figure. I now feel extremely stupid passing up a Black Costume Batman for $20.00 back in June lol.

Well, it looks like that black costume Batman is shipping as an All-Star figure with the newest wave, that's how I got mine. So maybe there's still hope for you.

If NOT, I have a Toy Fair coming up soon so I might be able to pick one up. May cost $25 but I think that would be an overall better investment.

wave 1 batman is ok, but i wish they would release a crime stopper batman, complete with oval, but using wave 2 batman's color scheme.

Depends on a lot. . .there have been several versions of Batman released. Do you like the black and gray outfit, the blue and gray outfit, or black and yellow? Do you need one carded or loose? Modern or classic?
The Batman Legacy one looks pretty nice, and you could probably get your hands on the mud-splattered Batman from the Clayface 2pack pretty cheap for a head swap. Or be patient. Mattel has said the stuff at retail for 2012 will focus on main characters -- almost certain to be Batman-heavy. |

I think the head sculpt only works for the Sinestro Corps Batman it was originally used on. Stoic or neutral is better on most Batman figures.

I personally really like the all-black costume Batman (no trunks on the outside is a plus), but I was never fond of the yellow bat-oval-symbol.
I'm really starting to love the Legacy Modern Age Batman I bought since swapping that ridiculous head out with my Gotham City DCUC Batman's. The S3 sculpt just has all these fine sculpting details. I've only owned two Batmen so far - the Legacy one being my second, and it's definitely my favorite Bats so far and has also become one of my favorite DCUC figures (with the new head only that is). Oh, and credit goes to thechris for the blow dryer idea and iLegend for the hot water. I used hot water to remove Gotham City Bat's head and a blow dryer to remove Modern Age Bat's head - the dryer was a lot easier in my opinion. I stuck the muzzle under his chin with the heat at max and just used the muzzle to continually push at the chin/neck area until the head came off. |

I prefer the DC Super Heroes wave # 7 Batman in the black and grey outfit, which is the buck they used for the Batman Legacy wave #1 figure.
There's so much that Mattel can do with this line though it looks like they'll be concentrating on Batman: Arkham City and The Dark Knight Rises for at least the next few waves. I'm hoping, but I doubt it'll happen, that Mattel reissues Shadow Knight Batman which is just a cool design for this character. Or how about the zebra Batman they teased us with a few years ago.

I'm here to talk you out of it.
If I'm not mistaken, they're going to flood us with numerous versions of almost all the Batman characters in this Legacy line (maybe some characters more than others, but I'm sure Bats himself will get quite a few), so why not wait for a version you don't have a problem with? I don't hate the angry face, but I really don't like it either. I know distribution isn't the best up there, but so far this Legacy line is as as stocked down here as Ironman 2 figures and Thor wave 1 figures, so unless the line suffers from "wave 1 overkill" where stores aren't going to re-up because they're stuck with nine pissed off Batmen, they should be everywhere.

It's a great figure, but that head sculpt is just bothersome. I'd recommend the black suit Batman, which shipped as an All-Star figure with Wave 16 and is still readily available through eBay for a good price. I have him, allbeit, from Wave 10 when he was first released, and he's great! I also have the Wave 12 gray/black All-Star Batman, which is also an awesome figure. There is also the Earth-2 Batman being released in BL Wave 2. All in all, you have lots of choices that do Batman justice far greater than the BL Wave 1 piece with his surley snarl. Stay away from this figure and get one of the others mentioned.
Hope this helps! |

Personally I don't like that buck. . .his chest seems too big. My vision of Batman doesn't have him that beefy. But I do like the utility belt.
My favorite Batmans are DCUC wave 1 Crime Stopper/Classic Detective Batman (to fill out my Super Powers team) or the Toys R Us exclusive All-Star. It's a nice modern black and gray with the Bat-symbol like the one on BL wave 1 -- no yellow circle around it like the Gotham City 5 one or the Clayface 2pack one. It uses the slimmer torso, a dark mustardy yellow color for the belt, and comes with a Batarang. |

I'm starting to realize that if I could afford to, I'd own every Batman figure ever created.
