For me this was the last great era of the cartoon and the toys. I remeber seeing red dragon megatron, and I had to have him, after months I got lucky and still have em, then when Unicron came out, had to have him. I have a few more beast wars, trans metal prime and some minor ones, but some of the toys after that do nothing for me until the re issues came out.I guess I am old school.,

Did you get the Generations Waspinator, Rattrap, and Rhinox from around 2013-'14? Those were some pretty damn cool toys just on their own merits but that they were also like a mini Beast Wars revival was even better. Too bad it didn't lead into Hasbro actually bringing Beast Wars back and redoing more of the characters. Who knows, with the way they just went all nostalgia heavy for headmasters maybe we could see Beast Wars come back as the main line for a while. I need a new Quickstrike (of course I like the ridiculously over-the-top Texan robot), Megatron, Tarantulas, Silverbolt, etc.
Re: The BW cartoon; That was probably the best toy-selling-based cartoon we've ever gotten. I watched it all again a good while back when Netflix had it all and aside from the visuals being dated (though amazing at their time) it held up pretty well. As with any cartoon there are those episodes or moments that fall well below the rest of the series but as a whole BW was one of the good ones. Characters actually died (sometimes) meaningful deaths, there was a long running plot which was rare for a cartoon at the time, and it also had a good amount of references to the original G1 cartoon to feel like a real sequel. Also, welcome to the Ark! I know this isn't your first post but you're still new enough and this is as good a place as any for me to say it.

The first Beast Wars toy I ever got was Drill Bit at a Christmas gift exchange at school but it was maybe another year before I actually started watching the show. It would air at 6:30 every morning so I would race to get ready for school just so I could eat breakfast and watch BW in piece. When I finally started getting BW figures, a lot of the Season 1 toys were the Fox Kids repaints so my Cheetor has purple spots instead of black. Optimal Optimus was my favorite figure though. I was incredibly proud of being able to master his 4 mode transformation. I still have him but I was bummed to find out a couple of years ago that he has some known breakage issues so I've left him in storage for a while now.
Hasbro will be redoing Optimus Primal in the upcoming Power of the Primes line. He'll be a leader class figure so his combined mode will be Optimal Optimus but his little bot that splits off will be Season 1 Primal. Here are some slides from Hascon and you'll need to scroll down to see Primal: https://www.seibertron.com/transform...-hascon/39484/ HasTak have started doing Masterpiece Beast Wars figures and I've happily added Optimus and Cheetor to my collection. Their beast modes aren't as seamless at the G1 characters but they're both really awesome. Dinobot will be released next summer and I think Megatron has been hinted. |

I loved Beast Wars, but the toys were not even trying to be accurate to the show. They were terrible in some aspects.
To me, Animated had the best toys because they were 100% identical to how they were on the show.

I also really liked Animated, the cartoon and the toys. I know a lot of fans can find it divisive but to me the spin on classic elements combined with shout-outs to the original material made it both charming and distinct. The animated Shockwave is one of my favorite Transformers.

My kids used to watch this show when they were younger and I never paid any attention to it. I don't even recall what got me into watching an episode or two. I think I found them for download at some point and watched it from beginning to end and it is to this day one of my favorites. My kids had a lot of the original toys and I watched as they made their way to the bottom of the toybox and when they were no longer a hot item they got JACKED by me..haha
I think at that point, when I started purchasing them, transmetals were in the stores..but my kids had some of the originals, like the purple dino Megatron. I think i watched the show from beginning to end about 3 times. I'm sure I'd have watched it again by now if we weren't inundated with tv shows/movies/etc at this point in time. My fav character was Inferno.. My fav toy was transmetal depthcharge and umm..what was that crazy big crabs name...him..rampage?? and Edison hmm....I know the area extremely well... Yep, Rampage was the dude that sounded like a Dr Suess character who had the immortal spark.
