So this is just the beginning of my iron man base of operations. I started with a hall of armory, while it's nothing to brag about I'm kind of happy about it . Please don't judge too harshly it was my first project like this and unfortunately I had no saw to cut the wood only a Dremel so some things came out kinda bleh. :-/.

THANKS!! though I'm not finished and I have some ideas I wanna add on as well. But I do wish I would have cut both the top and bottom pieces to make the armory less deep?. Also unfortunately I can only add 8 armors into that when I have like 40 iron man armors
:-/.... 1 thing I'm going to do is add a background image like a grid into each tube to make the tubes look more mechanical and less display tube. 2.id love ideas on how to make the painted wood to look for metal and hall of armor ish. Maybe add lights on the colums between each armor? 3.i am using a 5 shelf plastic cabinet to make this awesome iron man base! Lol. But for now I only have about 2 shelves thought out. I probably won't use but 2-3. A.hall of armors B.command center C.workshop 4.as you can see to the left of the top shelf there's tube with a hole, well that's the beginning stages to a elevator ill be making. (That should work ) 5.on the second shelf, I have made a little work table, a 5 shelf (that's a little too deep ill probably cut in half and have two.) I also have a ton or Star Trek enterprise command stations, I made a custom computer made of some of the Star Trek pieces and parts of a Star Wars toy. I also have a "medical tube" from a Star Wars toy I'm going to use. (This shelf will also have a elevator) So basically: Shelf 1: hall of armors, (needing something to make a "gantry" type thing.) Shelf 2: work shop? (Probably have other armors placed in here to look like they are being worked on. Shelf 3:a command center. I apologize if I'm all over the place I can't be organized lol I'm excited about making this and get all crazy hehe. |

Here's the shelving don't mind the mess :-/. The lower shelves are being used for storage for other figures
I'm needing ideas and opinions. I'd love some ideas of stuff to add to make it more awesome ! Oh and I'm also planning on buying miniature workshop tools and other garage type items to make it look more realistic. Last edited by Movieguy12; 02-04-2013 at 07:30 PM.. |

looks amazing! where did you purchase the clear display cylinders? are these available commercially?
I'm trying to create the same armory. if there is something I can't find, I 3D print the part. see my WIP for Tony Stark's workshop... |

Nice work on these! I love the lighted elements.
The workshop tools would be a great addition! The only thing I would add is maybe some lighting from the top? If you light the whole shelving unit, I think it would really make it all stand out rather than just showcase what is lit inside each tube.

Hey there, I've actually scrapped what I did. I found templets to download and print paper armor housing from the movies. It's a bit of a pain In the ass but all you do is print them on card stock and put it together. Unfortunately with the amount of armors I have it takes a rather long long long long time to do. So I'm looking for alternatives. I'm looking for something about the size of a iPhone box. (The box the iPhones come in originally.)
As for the tubes I don't have the website on hand. Yes you can buy as many as you'd like. I believe I just typed in google "action figure display cases" and found them. |

So you have a 3d printer?!? That's awesome I really like those armor housings I wish I could get my hands on some premade ones. I really can't seem to find a substitute for what I'm wanting. And making those card stock ones is so time consuming. I have 40+ armors so I need to make more than just 8.

Hey there! I am very interested in these. However I'd need about 40 ish lol. I'd have to make an exact count but I'm guessing close to that. Also I'm just curious do you happen to own the "hulk buster" 3.75" figure? I believe that's the bulkiest figure. And was curious if he fits in that. Thanks!! Also I am moving to Chicago this weekend so as much as I want these now I'm unable too until a month or so. I have to work and get some money . |

No the HB armor doesn't fit into these ones, but I have Martian working on a larger one for those.
Sorry for the late response I'm not on here much. |
