This game is approaching the one year old mark, it is massively popular, and yet only one company (Figma) has stated they'll be making actual figures for it. This just boggles my mind.

Well, why is the gun in the retracted form? That kind of sucks.

Because it only enters full sniper mode when she zooms in? It is kinda weird that she isn't in a pose for it to be in sniper mode since pretty much all of her promotional images have it as a sniper. My guess is that they went with the automatic mode since that's how it is in-game when it's at rest (also how it appears in her emotes and victory poses).

I don't think so. At Toy Fair Figma said that they're making Genji and Tracer but nothing was shown and there's been no news since. It's barely even an actual announcement so we'll have to wait and see what, if anything, happens. I'd be in for a Tracer (since it seems nobody else is making Overwatch figures) but personally I think Genji is an awful second choice. I think his design is plain/cliche and gameplay-wise he remains the most annoying hero to deal with. Maybe in Japan Genji is everybody's favorite so Figma's playing to their home market.

I hope they reissue that Tracer statue, it's the nicest of them I think.
Yep. No dedicated lines for WoW and Stacraft amazes me as well, two of the most popular video game franchises in history and their articulated action figure ranges are almost non-existent. 14 figures for WoW not including NECAs HotS figured. Less for Starcraft I think. NECa's Hots line covers it all but it's release rate leaves a lot to be desired, it's going to take ten years to complete the main cast of Starcraft at this rate.

Mine too, Kerrigan is an absolute must. Tracer too since she is basically the games mascot. Zeratul would be my pick for first protoss but I'll take anything they offer.
It's interesting that they said they would like to do a dedicated Overwatch line, when I asked about dedicated Starcraft and Warcraft lines on Facebook they said they had no interest in that. though I guess a dedicated OVerwatch line would let them focus HotS on the other two IPs.

Oh right Diablo, I did forget. There's another IP that would benefit from a faster release schedule, we don't even have a player character from Diablo yet, and there are like 20 of those not including different genders from D3.
I'd buy any Overwatch figure, they all have such nice designs, but I'd like Tracer first.

Genji is a natural choice for figma really. If they had to do a male character, it'd be the stereotypical, "cool" cyborg ninja -- it's their safest bet at a male OW hero figma selling well. Also, Japanese. So.
On the other hand, I have no fear that in a few years' time, GSC will round out the "waifu" sub-roster of heroes (ie, from Tracer to Widow to Mercy and everyone in-between; only excluding non-sexy women like Ana and Orisa). But if you: 1) Can't wait an eternity 2) want OW figures closer to the 7" scale of NECA HotS figures 3) Want D.Va with articulated MEKA that doesn't cost north of 300$ 4) Are ok with unlicensed products with great paint job, great articulation, good sculpt, good accessory count and some mild QC issues mainly with joints ... you can check out Vanzo's 1:10 OW line. Widow is out, clocking at around 7". Prototype pictures for Tracer and D.Va with MEKA are also floating around. |

I have issues buying anything third party or unlicensed for various reasons. Regarding that unlicensed Widowmaker (or "black lily") though while actually rather impressive looking for a 3rd party product it doesn't nail everything, mainly they made her rifle way too damn big.
And you know figma's track record for video game figures: high in price and low in accessories. Maybe Blizzard can work with them to lower the licensing fees and speed up the slow production process. Not holding my breath though. |

Yeha, they gave her a flipping-bird hand for some odd reason,

Not holding my breath though. That's why I wish an American toy company (hint NECA hint whom Blizzard is already work with for HotS and they did Diablo 3) would get Overwatch because each figure would only be ~$20 in a 6 or 7" scale. I haven't gotten anything from any Japanese import company because of how expensive they are for their size, though I am considering getting Figma's Pyramid Head because nobody else has done Silent Hill and unlike Overwatch it is not popular enough for people to just now decide to hop on board.

NECA Overwatch figs would be great. From what Randy has said it seems like Blizzard is just not giving them the license for some reason.

The flipping bird hand is meant for Blizzard, y'know cause it's a knockoff figure and all.

The problem with NECA figures is that they are collectibles rather than toys, and OW already has some collectibles. They might want to go for something more "Toy" like.

All Overwatch has are statues and Pops (I loathe Pops). While NECA toys aren't suitable for children they'd be 100% better than what we have now which is nothing. Just because they're aimed at collectors doesn't mean NECA doesn't make toys.

They could still do HotS versions though, as they have that license already.

Which is a shame honestly, I don't think I would buy anything NECA puts out but I don't see those selling badly either. Well made figures for 20 bucks? Considering how popular Overwatch is I can't imagine this being a financial failure for any party involved. |

Edit: Yep they confirmed it on twitter a couple of weeks ago, damn. Sylvanas, Raynor and Thrall are the last figures. No murlocs or Diablo.
