So I was browsing some prototype figures and Cancelled or unreleased figures and i thought well I've seen that figure !!! Today and it's buy-able !!
This picture below proves my point toy biz may not of had the funding to do the variants / cancelled at the time but Hasbro didn't ignore it ! I'm talking this wave mostly because most of these have seen the light of day ! First off the Super Skrull okay we didn't get it as Marvel Legends as such but hiding under a separate toy biz wave Fantastic Four ! Then secondly Queen Brood I presume was released as a BAF, Another super skrull was re-released in a two-pack, Which Thirdly appeared was the Hand Ninja ! red and white ! with shield agents. Then Ironman 2 came out and gave us the Crimson Dynamo ! Even Though this wave already had a Loki we got another one from the movie Wave Thor which looks Kinda like the Loki in the picture above. The Captain America 2 just released , and released gave us Aim and Hydra ! So looking back we can see that hasbro hasn't forgotten about the figures that haven't been made or distributed it's a question of getting them out there one day i hope we will see the ones which we haven't and it could be in about 8 years time roughly maybe sooner ... just a prediction from Aim and hydra's release being this year and the wave being thought about in 2006 time. |

yeah most of those figures were released, there accompanying henchmen were like fortune said, like 5 POA pack-ins, but the idea fell off when the price of plastic went up or whatever usual excuse Hasbro came up with to disappoint us, I think a few of the henchmen pack-ins did see the light of day on ebay way back when, but I get your point that those characters did eventually get good figures... except the hellfire club henchmen and classic doombot.

It's possible that they might have been on a short list since the initial R&D on that wave was done, but I have to say it feels a little too much like romanticism/wishful thinking to assume Hasbro's been carrying a torch for old Toy Biz ideas this long (especially with Vonner out of the picture).
I think it's far more likely that they just got new figures because some of those characters are associated with [currently] popular franchises. Quote:

I will give a lot of credit to ToyBiz, they had the idea (even though it didn't happen) to make those 5 POA army builders. It shows that they were fans of Marvel characters and were on the right track as to what collectors of ML figures would want.
If Hasbro wants some quick money they could make up some 2-pack army builders with goons, madrox or shield agents or whatever. The popularity of the last round of army builders should have rung a bell by now. If the took them out of the 'movie series' line ups, they'd still sell, and sell a lot! I'm not saying the HYDRA and AIM figures were wrong in the Cap Infinite line, but if you replace them with Tigershark and Radioactive Man, we'd have a lot less Mandroid arms to take up space. And if those two goons came in a 2-pack, I would have bought 8 of them.

Toy Biz did the Marvel Legends Showdown, and there great! the only problem with displaying them next to MU figures is that they (in some cases) are far superior in sculpting and paint.

Black cat is a little hit and miss. she looks fantastic, but her head falls off all the time.
Honestly though all of their She-Hulks (Red, FF, Savage, regular, even MU) have been great figures. I think that FF She Hulk ties with Jean and Satana for my favourite legend
