All I wanted was SHaw Bros. No idea what it will take as NECA has stated it will never happen. But it feels that Kung Fu is an untapped market, especially considering NECA's core audience are probably 30 something year olds.
Shaw, One Armed Boxer and Five Venoms need to be made. Alexander Fu SHeng and Ti Lung are long over due. |

One of the few times I've cried in my adult life was when I found out that Samara was canceled.

Do you mind, Joe? We're having an important discussion about Kung-Fu here!

Looks like Black Dynamite's not the only one whose name ends in "mite" who hates his kung fu being interrupted.

Actually, that's not One (from the 9 toyline), that is Seven.
One and Nine were released in wave 1 - Wave 2 would have added Seven (the female warrior in the bird skull helmet) and Eight (the big hulking dude with the giant sword). |

An Ultimate Predator figure seems like a no-brainer. Include all three heads, Billy's skull, plasma caster and medikit.
Ultimate Rambo would be pretty easy, too. Use the First Blood, Part 2 sculpt and include his bow and arrows, rocket launcher, ak-47, knife, and an alternate head without bandana. |

Rambo on the other hand is tricky because apparently the license isn't strong enough. The CVG Rambo didn't sell nearly as well as most of the others and even the SDCC Rambo they just did wasn't flying off shelves. There's a demand among fans I'm sure but it's not strong enough.

Sounds like we may get at least 2 figures from the 1st film. Which is fine with me. I'll need to grab the older Kyle Reese as they said they have no plans on redoing that figure.

First of all, thank you for the excellent articles and pictures! This has been a very enjoyable week...Toyark should do this more often! (you know the old saying: "the only reward for good work is more work!)
NECA certainly created a lot of masterpieces. Much like McFarlane's Movie Maniacs, they were not meant to be played with, but rather admired. Looking back at most of these figures of years past that I missed, I could kick myself for not getting most of them! While my collection is no where near as huge as the Comedian, but I do have a decent NECA collection as well. Some of these I honestly have no recollection of ever seeing them! Is there a comprehensive list (with pictures) of EVERY NECA figures ever made?!? Including all the variants and exclusives? Their website has a lot, but not all. It certainly is sad to see some of the unproduced figures, so much promises. Keep up the good work, NECA! |

Such a shame on that handsome Shredder figure...Michelangelo from NECA was my first adult collector toy; When I was around 12-13 years old I went to a merchandise shop* in Tel Aviv with my elder brother and sister, there I found those awesome TMNT action figures. I wanted them all but there were too expensive, instead my sister allowed me to buy one figure so I chose Mikey because he had the best expression and real chained nunchucks, not to mention he and donnie were always my favorit turtles. By the way, I noticed NECA doesn't make double jointed figures anymore since the TMNT line...bummer.
*The only merchandise shop in Israel and shortly lived...Thank god for Amazon and Hobby Search.

The main Predators line all have double-jointed knees, the AVP preds have double-jointed knees and elbows, the Aliens pretty much all have double-jointed elbows and knees. As for human figures (Freddy, Leatherface, Jason, Ash, Ripley) yeah they tend to go for the more aesthetically pleasing single joint. The upcoming Nathan Drake will have double-jointed knees.

My first neca figures were from predator series 8. The other toys I collect were going through a dry spell at the time, and a friend of mine had picked them up for himself and did some awesome pics with them. I had never seen them before, and I had to know more. Once I knew how inexpensive they were I had to have a set of my own. I never collected larger figures, I preferred to stick with 1:18 scale before these came along. Those Dutch figures and the rereleased jungle hunter are what started it all for me. Next I was picking up Rambo, Evil Dead 2, Aliens, some of the mego style horror characters, Planet of the Apes (RIP), and of course more predators every now and then, etc...
Neca has quickly become my favorite figure company at the moment. I think it comes down to the artistry and dedication that they put into their figures. I really do believe they have some of the best talent in the industry these days. Plus they do a great job of communicating with the fans and being honest with them. Of course, they're not without their faults. QC being the biggest thing, though from what I understand it has improved greatly over the years. I've had only 4 major issues out of the dozens of figures I've picked up since 2013. 1 accessory breakage, 1 figure that was deformed/damaged, 1 figure that was assembled wrong, and 1 that had a missing accessory. All were put right so I've not got much to complain about. I can't wait to see what's in store for us this year. Bring it on. |
