I work with the Roma community and i find when working with minority groups etc. it's super important to have heroes you can relate to. Because of the Magneto twins(not accepting the retcon!) heritage a couple of the kids I look after have taken to them. I have an MU Wanda and Pietro I take along but I'd like to get them something of their own.
The MUs are waaay too expensive, and none of the AoU merch seems to have a Quicksilver. So I was thinking maybe Minimates? I'll take p. much anything tho that's cheap enough for me to afford.

The minimates are your best bet, but there's also a couple of figures of Wanda and Pietro in the smaller Age of Ultron line.
Sadly, Quicksilver is sold out on HasbroToyShop, and I've never seen either of them in stores, but they're pretty cheap (HasbroToyShop has them listed for $5.99 each), so it may be worthwhile to check out other online retailers for them. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Good luck! |

Technically them ever being Magneto's kids was a retcon to begin with so him no longer being their biological father is more so undoing a previous retcon. I've always preferred to view Wanda as an independent character anyway, trying not to sound preachy here but she shouldn't be defined by her relationship to a man. I really want her new solo comic to be great.

I still feel kinda bummed every time people diss Scarlet Witch, either they say the character's a bitch for M-day, only works in a strict team setting, or is just a plot device (some writers seem to agree with this one). She's one of my favorites and it hurts she isn't respected

the problem is that Avengers Disassembled had little to do with Wanda as a character. Bendis writes some good comics but when given wider control of stuff just tends to tear stuff down(remember when he killed all of Alpha Flight off panel to build up a New Avengers baddie?). The portrayal her of the stereotypical crazy woman in the attic was really hurtful on a number of levels. Especially since it meant that you had no prominent Romani superhero after that(but you still had Dr. Doom going around, who apparently took the ultimate blame, idek).
a shitty characterisation from wanda that was dug up from a single comic ages ago and stretched to the point of ridiculousness shouldn't necessitate this level of rewriting either way. making her not a mutant only makes it MORE problematic, on a number of levels. the problem isn't her ties to Magneto, it's the way she was written.

I definitely agree that Bendis can write some great stuff but he can also wreck what we already had, GotG is a good recent example of his power to destroy.

I'm not sure the age group of the children you are tending to, but there are Bootleg Quicksilver figures that can be found on Ebay. They're fairly cheap, and since they're a little bigger than 6 inches, might fit well in scale with the recent Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch, which as some people have said, can be found fairly easily and cheaply at the moment...
Marvel Avengers 2 Age of Ultron Quicksilver 6 8'' Action Figure USA Seller | eBay Cool Display Marvel Avengers 2 Age of Ultron Quicksilver 6 8'' Figure | eBay There's also the older Toy Biz era Quicksilver figures from their animated X-men line...which were great toys back in their day and can be found fairly cheap as well... Quicksilver Action Figure Marvel x Men | eBay Quicksilver Action Figure x Men Original Costume Variant | eBay Quicksilver x Men Mutant Armor Series 1996 by Toy Biz from Marvel Comics | eBay and a few Scarlet Witch figures from the Toy Biz era, on the cheap... 1997 Marvel Comics Avengers Scarlet Witch Action Figure Toy Biz Movie | eBay Toy Biz Marvel Legends Lot Heroes Reborn Scarlet Witch Legendary Rider Series | eBay The Avengers 1997 Toy Biz " Scarlet Witch with Gravity Defying Hex Blast" | eBay Hope that helps somewhat! |

wait, wait, wait!!!! when did QS, and SW become not Magneto's children!?! that's insane (unless your talking the current post continuity blender secret wars universe, where nothing is required to make any semblance of sense) I know in the 616 universe and several of the spin offs there were numerous occasions where they HAD to be magneto's kids! House of M anyone? or when Mag's needed Pietro's blood! how about the forgotten sibling, Polaris? is she still related to anyone? I feel like I bumped my damn head!
Marvel Legends Series 11 Scarlet Witch Toy Biz | eBay or the SW that the kids generation might be a bit more familiar with: Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch vs Sub Ultron 008 Figure 2 5" | eBay and the MU one can occasionally be found at a decent price: Scarlet Witch Marvel Universe Figure | eBay if you want I can look for the AOU 3.75" 5POA SW, most of my local stores had her recently. Did they ever do a QS in 3.75? |

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were revealed to not be Magneto's children in last year's Axis event, though it's unclear from that and the follow up Uncanny Avengers V 2 if they are still mutants or Inhumans or experiments. It's a nonsense retcon that reeks of streamlining rights to the MCU vs. Fox/X-Men lines.
I wish it was one or the other with these big two recent retcons for the twins. Either they should have still been Magneto's children but not actually mutants which would put a new spin on the dynamic or they should still be mutants but not his children which could still have been an interesting dynamic. Neither retcon they went with really bothers me much beyond being obvious movie-based decisions, as long as the characters are still well done I'm okay. Fun fact: Wanda not being a mutant also serves as a retcon for Onslaught. In the big, messy finale of the original Onslaught story she sacrifices herself (with the other Avengers) to allow the X-men to defeat Onslaught but it had just been observed that if a mutant added to his mass it greatly empowered him. Her not being a mutant explains why Onslaught was hurt by her contribution and not strengthened.

I think Marvel is being run by Scarlet Witch, there new driving edict: NO MORE MUTANTS!!!!. I'm just saying, that's some dog S lazy writing! I've never seen a company internally divide and attempt to destroy itself so hard as the Disney/Fox Marvel split. it's like a really bad divorce, but the couples are still living in the same house and poisoning the kids (us) minds against each other! to look at retail you'd never know that X-men was a multi billion dollar property, or the FF was the "first family" of Marvel. sad, just sad.

Agreed, I think that retcon was redonkulous to the nth degree. Waiting to see it quietly get ret-retconned out in a few years, because honestly, even if being Magneto's kids was a retcon in the first place, it has led to so many interesting story threads, and has made the characters in ways that they may not have otherwise. As far as I know, though, Polaris is still Magneto's kid. Quote:

Makes her more unique in the Marvel Universe. |
