This thread is devoted solely to collectors who would like to bring light to bad situations and injustice all around the word.
Please feel free to post information that you feel would help to enlighten Arkers to the pain and misfortune others suffer everyday. When we ignore those without a voice and allow these injustices to prevail we only make a world where the same is more likely to befall ourselves or our loved ones. Rules. Everyone will respect the opinions, and the rights of their fellow Arkers to express said opinions. I want a goodhearted, spirited debate as to how we can bring about some positive change in this world and on this site, no mater how small. Knowledge is power and an informed populous is a strong populous. Any organizations, charities, NGO's or other groups that someone would like to discuss is welcome and encouraged. Important Note. Opinions on this thread are not in anyway endorsed by the site or those who run it. Any material that they deem inappropriate can and will be removed at their discretion. Thank you! |

This would be more fitting in the general discussion, but I think this is a good idea.
I think if we're willing to dump loads of cash on toys and being really charitable with our fellow collectors, we ought to consider putting some of those funds into humanitarian organizations. Assuming this thread can remain open (what with the 'no politics' rule here), I've got a non-profit I'm trying to kick off that would be perfect for a large community of collectors who drive around and use paypal a lot. I'm a little too occupied to put up the full description now, but I'll get it typed up and posted later tonight. Last edited by Boba Fettuccini; 07-10-2012 at 06:04 PM.. |

I donate old/unwanted comics to Heroes for Heroes, it sends comics to the troops. Collector's Comics
I also donate 10% of all of my eBay auctions to the Love Doctors charaties. They help a lot of the less fortunate in South Florida. :: The Love Doctors Charities :: Over $200.00 so far this year from my auctions. |

Also (since this is a MARVEL forum), Children's Hospitals will usually take donations of comics for the kids, just make sure it's age appropriate stuff.

I give helpful tips of the day.
Helpful tip of the day from the M3T4L V1KING: If you're upset and have a Facebook account, don't make a status about it. You'll just most likely annoy people. Instead, find a close friend, and talk to them about your situation. Because the Facebook community does not give a damn. |

I think I post on my Fan page more than my personal one. |

OV just post anything you think people should know about that could bring awareness to a given situation you believe to be wrong. Animal abuses, poverty, or child slavery. For instance I just saw a video about a kitten buried up to its neck in concrete. A guy found it, had to dig out all along the pipe the kitten was incased in, cut the steel pipe off and then carefully chiseled the kitty free. The kitten died a few days later, despite efforts to save it. Talking about these kinds of issues can be controversial and hard, but nothing changes without awareness. |

Anytime a bird flies over top of you and doesn't poop on you it's a good day, anytime they do, run out and buy a big bucket of KFC and eat it in front of them with an evil grin.

Boba, you should start a figure drive, I use to donate once in awhile to a similar thing when I played heroclix...
the site had someone who would take donations from the site, and then sell them auction style on the site, and then donate the earnings to her cause (breast cancer), I thought about doing something similar on here...pm me if you want to get something going...

Everybody Poops... It's a book about potty training, and it's true for birds as well. I wouldn't hold it against them. |

KFC is one of the largest violators when it come to abusive practices in the factory farming industry. This and the fact that their food has tasted like shit for over a decade = they will never get a dime from me.

yeah, its fun, the auction gets interesting, cause for one it goes to a good cause, and 2 the nature of collecting, what people get tired of or dont want, they donate, and someone is looking for that item, perfect situation for a fun charitable auction!

A mod will do it, they're kind of to do it if you just post saying you would like the transfer. With a thread like this though they'd do it anyways.

Not your mom's chicken. Funny how growing up you hate what your parents cook, but when you get older you enjoy it more than fast crap. |

A children's hospital sounds like the way to go. At least you know whatever you donate is going directly to a kid that could use some joy in their lives.
