I don't know anything about the toy world, but I love MMX and walked into a store a few months back and impulse bought the D-Arts Vile figure for $40. Kept it in the box, thinking it might become a collectors item or one day I'll open it. Anyway, was in the same neighborhood yesterday and went back only to find a Zero Type 2 figure, only it was $90. I immediately googled thinking it was a rip off, only to find it going for up to $180 on ebay, and often not less than $150.
So I bought it ('cause at least it was a deal, right?), thinking again, either I'll keep it for a collectors item and maybe sell one day or unbox it one day for the full enjoyment. But now I'm having thoughts, wondering: 1) Why it went for so much than vile 2) Why it's so much more expensive online (almost 200%!) 3) If I should sell it now for maximum profit based on current market, or 4) If it will appreciate in value and I should hold on to it Anyone have answers? I also got unarmored MMX figure for $40, which is not much less than it goes for elsewhere at the moment. Last edited by nada; 07-29-2013 at 10:46 AM.. |

1 & 2) Popular character (possibly the most popular in the X series, depending on who you ask) in his most recognizable form (rebuilt version with Z-Saber). Vile has a cult following, but Zero is a definite Face character.
3 & 4) Keep if you like it, sell if you don't. But the whole value thing is goofballs. Short of a few items, collecting for the sake of investment is, at best, a crapshoot. |

it all boils dwn to supply and demand like cook said. i lucky enough to get him for $45 when he 1st came out. good example of the whole supply and demand thing.. the sdcc metallic blue megaman pictured was about the same price as zero when he 1st came out, but the regular blue one was 150+. fast forward to now and since that blue one has been re released it took the value dwn and now the metallic blue one is 150+. its pretty much a coin toss. u never know who is going to that big "it" figure.... except deadpool. pretty much any deadpool figure is going to skyrocket later lol
