I really would have invested in the ICONS line except for the fact DC seems to be really giving up on this right out of the gate. My local comic shop has almost all Harleys. No Batman or Superman figures.

I totally would have been onboard since the beginning if their scale wasn't so wack.
Therein lies their original problem. If they would have just scaled them with DCUC and ML, I have no doubt that they would have had better sales. They would have gotten my money. *shrugs* |

Good interview with Jim Fletcher, though the sound isn't great. He asks about (starting around 11 minutes for Icons specifically): -ICONS delays -price hike -articulation -Iconic moments among other things. No mention of Icons single figures ending which given the context of the conversation seemed odd to me if it's really happening.

That and TDK ends with Bruce going to continue being Batman while being hunted by the cops to continue protecting the city, but then we learn that Batman never returned after that night 8 years prior. He was Batman for 9 freaking months and already retired?! WTF?! Oh, and has massive bone damage as if he had been doing it for years.

I don't care what the laywers say. For me, this is and always will be the Marvel Family, and that guy standing in front is Captain Marvel.

And here I thought Pixel Dan's so-cheery-I-want-to-punch-him-in-the-face interviews were bad...

i thought the same thing, that guy needs to improve his interview skills big time. that interview was horrible. he even shaked the camera guys hand first at the end of the video instead of the guy he was actually interviewing, smh.

Saw the part where the "price hike" was brought up, but I'll just take your word for the rest of that being in that "interview". I made it to the part where the "interviewer" pulled out his phone to show off photos somehow pertaining to collector displays... or something like that. Like you said, it's really dificult to hear anything they're saying, and by that point I also didn't care (it was just after the rep started talking about the Death of Superman set).
And here I thought Pixel Dan's so-cheery-I-want-to-punch-him-in-the-face interviews were bad... He got more info out of DCC than Shartimus and Pixel Dan combined so sound issue aside I think it's a bit rough to question his interviewing skills.

So far I've only seen or heard about DCC canceling the single carded Icons from that one source that Dr. Kain shared the link to. Maybe it's not true and we will continue
to get individually carded figures. I hope that's the case because I love how the Icons Harley blends in with my DCUC figures and I'd love to have that Jim Balent era Catwoman that was solicited a when back. |

Holy shit. Jay C has reviewed the Superman and Green Lantern figures from the 7 pack and GL is not just a repaint. Both figures are taller than the previous Icon versions.

He hasn't reviewed him yet. He is doing 1 figure a day.

Jay C just put up a new video talking about Icons. The short of is that he emailed DCC's PR team who will talk to the people over Icons to see if the single carded figures are canceled. He's waiting on their reply. He also emailed several online retailers about the single carded figures that we didnt see at NYTF like Catwoman, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, Etrigan, and Sinestro. Right now they're still expecting these figures but I guess that could change when Jay C gets his reply from DCC.

I usually like to buy my DCC figures at my LCS so I can pick out the ones with the best paint but I went ahead and pre-ordered the supposedly upcoming Icons figures that I want at BBTS. There's really no drawback to pre-ordering considering BBTS doesn't charge you until they receive the products. So if the line is canceled it won't cost you anything and maybe it will help Icons stay afloat if DCC receives a lot of pre-orders. |

Just saw a review of the Rebirth pack. The sizing is definitely improved A LOT. I never bought these figures because they were stupid tiny, but now that the sizing seems to be getting fixed, and as long as this line does not collapse, I may start collecting. They may have a shot at competing with Marvel Legends now. They just need to give good accessories and perhaps get in on the BAF craze.

Icons are the closest we'll get to Marvel Legends for DC, because Mattel's offerings tend to be less than great, but I don't think they'll ever do a BAF feature. DCC has never done any kind of gimmicks or incentive features like that before (except for little stuff like where each figure's base connects) and honestly it's one of my favorite things about them. When I want the big figures I don't have to buy all the other figures too. It's especially cool when the big figures only cost as much as the normal sized figures but even when they're "deluxe" in price it beats having to buy five other toys I maybe didn't want.

Mattel is just awful anymore. I don't know how all this stuff works, but DC should just fire them.
I can't help but wonder if Jakks Pacific would do any good with the license. I will never forget the amazing stuff they gave us with WWF/WWE. But then again, they also did the Dragon Ball Z stuff which was heavy on re-use and were very lazy 80% of the time. But....when they did put in effort it was always extraordinary. So who knows.

Mattel's blatant refusal of using modern articulation is beyond annoying!

Completely agree. There were able to get away with it until Man of Steel hit. But now they are almost 10 years past when Marvel Legends articulation became the norm. Mattel's toys are archaic, and what's worse is their sculpts and paint suck now too. So there's no reason to buy their stuff.
What's worse is that Mattel has used modern articulation on certain figures, proving they could do it if they wanted to. We got double jointed elbows on DCUC Captain Boomerang, and double jointed knees on Arkham Origins Batman. Frustrating...

Mattel once said they under articulated their figures so they would look nicer. And truthfully, that made a lot of sense because Toybiz and Hasbro kept using that fugly Bullseye body for just about every male figure they could. However, Mattel was screwed when Hasbro came out with Bucky Cap and it became the standard base body they used.
