An informal survey among my fellow Superman fans of pictures from Toy Fair revealed none of us are likely to purchase the new Essentials Superman. Face is a little too "pretty boy Superman" for our tastes (though body sculpt does not look bad).

I’m l excited for this new line, even though I’m not happy about all the money I spend on the Icons figures, only to have them pull the plug. I do hope these are a bit bigger so they scale well with the Marvel Legends figures.

I liked the icons but these look promising depending on the size. All I want is a DC line of figures similar in size to Marvel Legends and Figuarts and all that. DC Icons was about the absolute closest we've gotten but hopefully this time they'll get it right.

The DC solicitation/preview catalog lists them all as close to 7" in size so probably too big for Legends, because DCC doesn't want us to have fun with crossovers.

Yeah, I got it for my kid when it first came out. Pretty cool, but the flying controls are whack.

Two more Essentials figures have been revealed. Black Adam and Shazam will be released in a 2 pack in 2019.

Damnit. God forbid we get something interesting like a Rebirth Catwoman from this line.

That's assuming the line lasts long enough for that Captain Marvel/Black Adam pack to come out.
Have they actually shown off the actual figures and not the prototypes at all yet? Also, are Flash and RF going to come with running hands?

I'm going to be disappointed if these don't scale properly with Marvel Legends and/or every other figure out there. Some of the DC stuff is just way too tall and that's why I liked Icons and still enjoy the Multiverse figures. This has potential to be really great, but I know it's going to end up being a bad scale.

They'll scale properly with 90% of the rest of DCC's figures. Icons and the animated stuff are the exception. Not to mention that they will scale really well with NECA and McFarlane, so you cannot really say "every other figure out there".

I am glad that this new line will be basically DCC figures, but with actual articulation. 100% need the Nightwing from this line. |

Paul Harding, the sculptor who helped make these awesome figs, go some early samples. He posted these on Twitter. I'm loving this new Batman.

The figures are based Jason Fabok's artwork. He posted some package shots on Twitter as well. Hopefully people will stop asking about the accessories these figures come with.

$25+ for Flash and Reverse Flash and no accessories huh? All Flash can do is fist! That is lame. Go fuck yourselves DCC!

At 7' scale I guess they just don't want my $$. Oh well, more $$ for Marvel legends comic based figs.

Do you guys really mix you Marvel and DC Comics figures? Really?
I mix my DC Direct, DC Collectibles, DC Multiverse and DC Universe figures. That works out pretty well for me most of the time because DCUC and Multiverse are more like 6 1/2 inches tall so it's not that much of a stretch to mix in most DC Direct and DCC figures. I have taken photos for fun with DC and Marvel characters together but I display them separately. I never have them shoulder to shoulder with Marvel Legends on a shelf in my collection. I'm not action figure police, and you can certainly display your toys however you see fit. I just don't understand why every one thinks these should be in perfect scale with Marvel Legends. I guess I would prefer if they were all one universal scale for kitbashing and customizing, but that's about all. The main reason why I don't like DC Icons scale is because they don't fit with any of my DC figures, not because they don't fit in with Marvel Legends. I'm glad that DCC is making figures with articulation that is similar to Marvel Legends, but I don't need them to be in the exact same scale. I'd like it if these new DC Essentials had a few accessories, but I usually just pop on one set of hands and seldom swap them out. I would prefer it if they came with weapons and effects pieces over a dozen slightly different hands. |

That's what I do for a lot of my figures. Spiderman is one of those rare exceptions where I'll spend time changing his hands depending on how I want to pose him. Honestly, I would have been really happy if DCC included a clear stand with an articulated arm like Mafex includes with their figures. That would be WAY more useful for characters like Superman and Flash than any kind of extra hands. |

Given that these are geared to collectors the lack of accessories and alternate hands/heads (especially compared to Icons) is giving me no reason to get into this line at all. Even if I liked that Deathstroke design, which I just really really don't, I can't imagine being excited for this figure given all he has are the sword and a pistol he apparently can't even hold.
