Not bad. It's funny and sad that they had no issue giving Aquaman sculpted armor and a trident but couldn't be bothered to give Flash and RF alternate running hands despite them being on a generic painted details body.
I'm confused on Superman though. I thought they were doing the Rebirth version, but he looks to be the classic one. |

Oh yeah, I was going to read that issue but forgot all about it.
I wonder if my shops have any copies left. I'm honestly surprised they were able to get that version of Superman out so quickly considering it takes Mattel a decade to bring out the version of a character that was out at the time they started working on it.

I could be wrong but I always assumed DC Direct/Collectibles was privy to insider info from DC about future changes and events, and that's why they could have product ready pretty quick and make any neccessary changes. If you look at that Superman really close though, they just painted on the red trunks and he still has the weird wrist detail on his shirt, so it's not *quite* a perfect classic version

Since DCC is a part of DC comics I'd hope there's a direct line of communication.

Oh yeah I know but I meant that keeps it from being a classic version for me personally Plus it irks me to no end that they didn't paint the belt loops >

Not posting any images because I think Toyark frowns on linking to the completion during SDCC but TNI has pics up of Essentials Batgirl of Burnside, Classic Harley Quinn, and Joker.

Also, four more Batman characters? Seriously? Why not give us a Captain Cold or Rebirth Mera instead? Or maybe characters they haven't done yet like Jonah Hex and El Papagayo, The Spectre and Phantom Stranger, Dr Fate and Clarion, The Question and Montoya, etc?

Amazon emailed me tonight to let me know that the delivery date for my preorders for the first four Essentials figures has been moved from sometime in August to July 27! Looks like the July 25th release date was accurate.

So, did anyone pick up any of the Essentials figures this week? It looks like BBTS and Amazon didn't receive their shipments for the first four figures. I thought about picking up Batman from a local comic book store since I wanted him the most but the only store that had him wanted $30. I'm content to wait for either BBTS or Amazon.

Hmmmm.... Yeah, just not really feeling it. His neck looks too long, I'm not a fan of the bat symbol and that belt looks sillier to me than the capsule belt of the 70's (seriously, where does he keep stuff? In the black panels? And those pointed ends would stab him in the inner leg every time he bent over!) I really hope that now that he has his Hush-era costume they do a version of that!

Thanks.
Mini review Sculpt: I like the sculpt and Jason Fabok’s artwork so I’m pretty happy with it. As far as the lankiness, it doesn’t seem so bad when the figure is posed. Articulation: On par with Marvel Legends for the most part. Some of the joints have loosened up with movement but I should be able to fix this with Futures. Paint: What you would expect from DCC or a mass market figure for under $30. Accessories: It’s a batarang but that’s more than some Batman figures get. DCC has spoiled us with the BTAS figures and their accessories. Hopefully we’ll get a deluxe set with more accessories. Overall: I like this figure but I’m not wowed with it the way I was the original Icons Batman. Part of that maybe that it’s a marginal improvement over Icons while Icons was a big step up from DC Multiverse and DCUC in delivering what I want. Hopefully the problem with loose joints is a symptom of a new toy line and not a problem that future figures will share. |

i just saw batman and the flash today. these look BIG.. are they 7 in?
i compared it to an essentials figs and the size differences are way off. For all those that supported essentials when we cursed them...now i curse you..ha. This makes that essential line almost useless posing with anything else. There is a sale a my LCS on sunday so i'll pick up Batman then..and mayyybe Flash too.. and definitely now we are used to getting more bang for our buck in the 6in-ish lines. Heads, hands, effects, accessories. So the lone batarang seem a bit lite in da ass. and looks like nothing with Flash...no??

purchased and opened batman and reverse flash.
They look really good..joints are tight A.F. which makes me not want to move most of them too much for 1. fear of breaking 2. fear they might be to loose after moving around. i understand but i don't LOVE the fact that they are all the same body.. which is why Batman looks a tad bit lanky.. i HATE the ankles....i can barely get these things to stand on their own because the ankle joints are weird and loose i guess. I don't think i'll be investing in this line. to me these will be more like.. really good looking figures that i'd stand in mostly static vanilla-ish poses.

Just picked up Reverse flash and while not perfect he’s incredible! I’m definitely gonna pick up flash to go with him.

I've gotten all but Batman so far, and I dig them a lot.

Superman got no other interchange hands? His flight pose would be quite weird with the above ones...
