Came here...why isn't DCC not making some Aquaman stuff? Seems like a missed opportunity...

Because their first two DC films figures didn't sell well (probably due to the fact that they were 50 bucks a pop) so they scrapped all the future movie figures.

Thanks Tomax
According to DCC, retailers told them that they didn't want to carry DCC's movie figures since they were so similar to Mafex and SH Figuarts. I think they were far enough along on Batman and Superman that they went ahead and released them knowing that they would fail. |

Personally, my only real interest in this line was the possibility that DCC might tackle older properties. I couldn't care less about extra renditions of the DCEU. That franchise has been well-covered by other companies. Last edited by Wonderful Toys; 12-11-2018 at 05:39 PM.. |

I'm pretty sure that deal is "we are DC, don't worry these won't be sold at retail where they'd compete with you" and Mattel said "yeah sure just let us keep that master license."

A lot of fans were hoping for this but DCC stated that they would only go as far back as Man of Steel.

At this point, the only thing I want from DCC is a fully posseable, well sculpted, full of accessories, Silver Age and Bronze Age Flash line.
Well, I wouldn't mind a Jonah Hex and a Moore Swamp Thing, but that is all I really want now.

I’d literally kill for a line like that! The Flash Rogues never get respect Action Figure wise. There’s never been a 6 inch scale. Heatwave,Top,Weather wizard, piper,or Trickster. That I know of. I need them in my Collection

Well, I'm willing to admit I was wrong, and for all my bashing on the Joker prototype, this figure is pretty damn awesome! The articulation is killer and the head looks much better than the pictures DCC provided! I've been hoping for a NECA scaled classic Joker for a while now, and while this is more of an updated look for Joker, I still dig it. If you'll excuse, I'm gonna go digging through my parts box for Gordon Freeman's crowbar and Heisenberg's duffel bag of money

I really do not like that head at all.
However, he might actually be the best looking Essential to date.

The head really grew on me, I disliked it too initially! But even if it still doesn't work for you in person, the body is great and you can probably swap on any other Joker head you like haha

Agreed. I read that the sculptor (Jason Faibok) did an original design, and while I'd have preferred a traditional version, this is really starting to grow on me. Makes me think "What if they'd cast David Bowie as the Joker instead of Nicholson?" Honestly I'd recommend this figure to anyone on the fence, I would bet he'll be one of the very few that goes up in price later haha

AND... I think if it had a better..or touched up paint job( shading, highlights, a wash, whatever)... it would be a must have.

I picked up most of the third wave of figures this week (all except Nightwing) so I figured I throw up some pics and do a quick review of each.
I honestly don't have much to say about this Joker. He's not bad, in fact he's much better than I thought he would be. Like Black Arbor, I would have preferred a more traditional look for him. Hopefully this line can continue and we'll get figures from the Three Jokers story that Jason Fabok is drawing. Much like the Icons Harley, the Essentials Harley Quinn is a pleasant surprise and a great figure. I thought the heels would make it difficult to get this figure standing up but I haven't had any problems, even on uneven surfaces. Unlike Marionette and all of the male figures, Harley has a more traditional ankle so you don't have problems with the feet clicking too far down or too far up. The left eye on mine looks like it was painted a little wonky but it's not so bad that I feel like trying to repaint it or exchange it. I noticed the same thing in Brad the DC Universe Geek's Harley Quinn review so this might be common on most figures. Overall, I would say that Harley is my favorite of the three that I picked up. I hadn't looked at any of the packaging pics or reviews for Batgirl so I was surprised to see that she came with an interchangeable grip hands. I alway felt the motorcycle that came with the Icons Batgirl was too big for that figure so after putting the grip hands on the Essentials Batgirl, I put her on the Icons batcycle. The bike seems better proportioned to the Essentials Batgirl but I did have to heat the hands up to get them on the handle bars. I wouldn't say that it's necessary to get the Icons Batgirl just for the motorcycle but it's a nice bonus if you already have it and you get the Essentials Batgirl. Like Harley, Batgirl doesn't have the standard Essentials ankle so it's easier to get her feet flat on the floor. |

We're getting more Essentials figures! TNI has pics up for a bronze age Batman, Balent Catwoman, Green Lantern (finally getting released), and Sinestro in his Corp. uniform. They're solicited for January 2020!

^Nice shots!
I have the Cheetah figure, and I gotta say she's one of my favorites of the year. Wonder Woman looks nice too, but I've heard there's difficulty keeping her upright. |
