So I have a question. I want to do some DC displays in my Detolfs, but I'm trying to think of what might work. I don't want to do full on dioramas like I did with my Metroid and Alien displays, but I want to have like street corners, maybe the lower part of a building in the background, and I was thinking about doing a Flash museum type set up for a Flash shelf. Do any of you have any ideas of what I could use or where I could get some inexpensive stuff like garbage cans, maybe a Flash logo flag, etc?

Looking at the TRU.ca listings, I think that they could actually be TRU exclusives. Based on the descriptions, the PA Superman is just the first wave figure with the addition of an alternate head, and the Batman is the first wave normal figure with a Bruce Wayne head and removable cowl.
At least... I hope Mattel isn't stupid enough to try and get people to buy the same two figures twice to get a couple of alternate heads and the last two C&C pieces. Especialy with there already being three versions of Batman that are required to finish the grapnel gun. Not that I couldn't imagine Mattel doing something like that, I just really hope that's not the case here. TRU.ca is, from what I can see, missing listings for Lex and Knightmare Batman, so I don't know why they would have listings for two of the second wave figures and not the other two.

After some thought, my OCD took over and and I just couldn't stand to stare at those derpy eyes anymore, so I ended up taking a little paint to BvS Batman tonight and did what I could. Whited out the eyes, repainted the cowl and did a quick paint wipe on the mouth/jaw portion, and surprise, surprise...there's a respectable Batman under there. I'm MUCH happier with my purchase now...
A before and after shot for those of you considering it. The eyes are a bitch to paint by themselves because they are not symmetrical, I recommend doing the entire cowl unless you have a super tiny paint brush and a surgically steady hand. Getting rid of those derpy eyes and the wipe on the face really helps showing off the sculpt a bit. Without it, it's really questionable, but with it, it actually does bear a pretty good resemblance to Batfleck... Also, if you have a Keaton Batman from NECA, and you're not using it, his grapnel gun works PERFECTLY and looks great in Batfleck's hand, as do some of the DCUC Batarangs....play around with them a bit to find a look you like! |

Except for the giant bat symbol, that suit is actually not that bad looking.

Definitely an improvement on that Batman. The wipe on the face did an especially good job.

I've seen a couple reviews, and I have a question for those who have the Multiverse BvS Superman figure. Would it be possible to unscrew the bottom of the base piece to remove the grapnel gun's handle from it to make it so that the grapnel gun will be able to be picked up from the display base?

Not sure,I unscrewed the one screw that looks like it connects the grip to the base and it didn't come off, didn't force it too much though, btw this thing is going to look like a dollar store toy gun!

As for how the grapnel gun looks, the handle looks fine in the videos that I've seen, so I think the gun as a whole will look fine as-is. That said, it probably wouldn't hurt to add-in a couple small details and do a black wash. Which considering this is Mattel and a pretty sizeable gun-shaped prop replica, I think we're lucky that it doesn't look like it'll need much more than that to look perfect.

So I've been reworking my Detolfs to make a display, so this is my work in progress. I'm not planning to do a full on dioramas, but I want something that works. Some of the figures I have in the case will be replaced with the Icon ones when they are released and of course I will add Icon figures as needed.
Oh, and this was just for fun because one of my friends brought over his Iron Throne today:

The simple fact is that Mattel just doesn't care!

I have been finding lots of DC stuff at TJ Maxx lately. No classics but some of the stuff I saw was Arkham City Rabbit Hole Batman, Bane Vs. Batman two pack, Trinity Wars three pack, New 52 Lex (Big Mech Suit), Justice League Cyborg, Simon Baz Green Lantern (New 52) and another Green Lantern. Keep an eye out!

My Wal-Mart set up a full mid-aisle display for BvS with the multiverse in the middle, the actual play toys on the right, and the big electronic ones on the left. It was packed to the brim and completely full, I was clearly the first person to happen upon it. Even though I don't want any of these toys I flipped through them for shits n' grins to find a sea of Batfleck (way too damn many) and a good number of Supes and armored Bats with zero Wonder Woman. I don't care to get these but it seems that they made WW ridiculously hard to find right now compared to the two guys.

I found a WW at target today. Almost pulled the trigger until my kids said the face looked like a dude and I took another look and wasn't a big fan of the paint or headsculpt. I had to pass for now but I hope I don't wind up regretting that decision.

I'm not gonna Lie. I really like the DC Collectibles Zero Year Bats. I am going to pick this one up along with the full suit Zero Year Batman. Sided by side what do you think?

You asked for my opinion so please don't bite my hand off when I'm done. Chiefly the DCC one looks official, that is to say not like a custom. The figure looks like it was meant to be what it is while the custom looks like a very well done custom (and I do mean very well done). I will say though that the custom's head looks a lot better than the official one's frowny face mouth which gives the custom huge points. The official one looks smooth and precise while the custom looks more gritty and the gear in particular looks more "real" than the official one's (more like it's based on real gear rather than a comic illustration). All in all I'd say that the custom is actually so well put together that I'd almost believe it wasn't a custom but rather a different company's take on the same look. That's my thought on comparing the two, overall the custom is better in some areas but maybe not in others depending on what you want in regards to being comic accurate or just plain well done.

Great Write up. Your Right on Point. When the Product version is released I will pick him up and more than likely do a head swap as the Frownet Face is is just that way to Frowney.

I'm almost positive that head sculpt was for an unreleased fig of Supe'smother for the MOS line because it looks exactly like that actress.

There are two assortments, one without WW and one with two WW,seems like Target is getting her assortment first,TRU and WM don't seem to be getting her assortment yet,I saw 4 fresh cases being put out at WM and no WW,just a ton of Bats and 4 Supes, seems he is one per case, they should've just had an even case,2 of each fig.
