Didn't know where else to put this, Bernie Wrightson: dead at 68. Sucks...
There were a few artists I was exposed to as a kid that not only left a profound impression on me with their style, but actually broadened my horizons and made me realize that almost anything can be conveyed through comic book art. Bernie was near the top of that short list of talents. |

I had a soul crushing experience on Saturday while grocery shopping. So I go shopping at night on Saturday because I don't like a crowd and as a cool bonus this has become the time when my Walmart stocks the store, including the toy section. I've gotten to open a decent number of boxes myself which has more than a few times allowed me to get some of those demanded/one-per-box figures. So going back a couple of weeks ago my Walmart had the hawk guy from the King Shark wave but nobody else so I figured it wouldn't be long before they got another case out to the shelves. This last Saturday then I'm looking at the crate stacks in the toy section when I see one from Mattel that says "DC Multiverse 6 In" so I felt pretty confident that I would find the King Shark wave in that box. NOPE! I keyed it open and it's a restock of the Doomsday wave from last freaking August, figures which for the most part have peg-warmed in this area. The hunt goes on.

While hunting for TDKR Joker I found these at TRU in KC. There's 4 figures in the wave- Steve Trevor, WW in her cloak, Hypolita and WW in her Amazon Island Gear. There were a total of 4 figures on the pegs, 3 hooded WW and 1 Steve Trevor. So it looks like Mattel is up to their stupid old routine of only releasing half of the wave at a time and short packing a character needed to complete the B-A-F. I'm not interested in these, but I thought I'd pass this along for those who are. Good luck!

Picked these up today. I actually like them. The BAF Ares is the standout, followed by Princess Diana. Queen Hippolyta is a pleasant surprise. My least favorite is Steve Trevor. All in all, I am pleased with these figures, and am looking forward to the Justice League Line. I'm hoping the BAF is Steppenwolf, so they can sell the Parademons by themselves and I can build an army.

Saw the WW figs at TRU, incredible that they got the other two actors likenesses but not Gadot, better than the BvS but still not there. What's up with the King Shark wave? Found a Joker/Hawkman at TRY couple weeks ag and a Hawkman at Target today, hope this isn't another Justice Buster scenario where it was hard to find! Hope it's more like the Doomsday wave!

It's nice to see that the Wonder Woman figures are starting to make their way to retail. This will likely be the first wave that finally gets me into this line. The Ares C&C figure looks really good, and I've been wanting to start up a DC-CU collection of figures. That said...

I'm fine with needing to get this Wonder Woman and the island Diana, they're different enough from each other, but the one with the black cloak is what annoys me. Another character, a second figure of Steve, or even a Diana in the blue dress would have been better options imo. That said, I'll be surprised if the Justice League C&C doesn't require you to buy yet another Wonder Woman figure... so maybe I should get used to having multiple WW figures around... Maybe the JL version of her could include an actual lasso accesory instead of the one coiled up and stuck to her hip?... lol Edit: I guess this means you can basically have three small displays for the Ww movie figures. One of island Diana and her mother, one of loaked Diana and Steve, and a third of Wonder Woman fighting Ares...
