I found an agreeably priced DCSH Darkseid on ebay and decided to pull the trigger. Every recent Darkseid figure has been a version I don't like or very expensive, so I went back to basics. I prefer Darkseid's classic size, larger than regular people but not gargantuan, and simpler outfits. For a figure that's over a dozen years old the sculpt still holds up really well and honestly given that Mattel only recently upped their articulation his isn't too shabby.

It looks like the Icons figure from the Super-Sons pack with some additional paint work.

Just got my Ninja Batman wave! Onto Blockbuster, which I really hope will see the light of day. I'm also hoping that translucent Ray hits at SDCC.
If anyone wants Ninja Batman and/or Black-Lightning, PM me. |

Crossing fingers for an update at SDCC on the Black Canary, Hawkgirl, & Poison Ivy that were shown-off, too. With so many changes and so little time, things aren't looking that good.

Slight Repaint and Custom. Painted the belt Yellow and the trim lines on his lower sash. Added his Thigh Pads as in the comic. Gave him a Sword

You know what else isn't looking too good? The QC problems I'm experiencing with this wave. Funky nonworking ab-crunch and ripped bicep peg. I have to order a new Garfied, the most impressive sculpt, lost to shoddy plastic and me not paying attention. I hope my experience is an anecdotal hiccup. Cool figs...Mattel was almost there...

That wave's already out? Will have to keep a look out for them! How are the figures overall? I'm really looking forward to Nightwing and Starfire in the wave the most

Nightwing is the best (most iconic) of the wave with much appreciated fist accessories along with griping hands, but I’m a little surprised at the lack of a harness for his fighting sticks. The faces of Starfire, Beast Boy and Flash are a bit too cartoonish for my tastes, but not deal-breakers. The paint app on my Green Lantern makes his fade look more like male pattern baldness and his ab-crunch has zero backwards play (a common occurrence with many DCUC figs) making it difficult to pose the corps ‘best flyer’ in an actual flying posture. The paint apps aren’t uniformly terrible, meaning that they can be individually satisfying. The issue is that many of the joints (across my case shipment) have been painted over requiring heat treatments and light exacto-blade surgeries. I can't tell whether or not this was the reason for the bicep peg tear on my Beast Boy, but the figs definitely feel rushed – weird because we’ve been waiting a while for these last Mattel wares to hit retail. If not for the joint tear and slightly silly face, Beast Boy would have been my pick for best fig given the uniquely sculpted details like fur and textured costume. But when you watch something you’ve anticipated nearly disintegrate in your hands, it leaves an impression. All around, Mattel was definitely headed in the right direction. They had more QC and consumer satisfaction testing to do with some design elements; there’s no rhyme nor reason for why some characters have hinged wrists while others lack the feature etc. Had they the benefit of maybe two to three more waves, from what I’m seeing with this set, they would have had a line that could compete with Marvel Legends, for sure. Oh, well…life can be cruel. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 06-16-2019 at 03:41 PM.. |

Any DC collector doing Comic Con? Maybe we all can cobble together suggestions (to suggest to McFarlane) for a hopefully kick ass DC line. That said; what are some of your suggestions?

As far as wish-listing goes I'd like to see a Mister Miracle and Big Barda two pack and a deluxe Bane based on Finch's art from the "I am Bane" story.

Great idea on the 2 packs! It brings to mind more possibilities. DC did it before, so perhaps McFarlane can do it again, to help sell past / present "cross overs.". Who wouldn't want to see what McFarlane can do with MOTU?
