MattyCollector.com Online Store - DCU 2012
I read the thread with the poll of who is buying a sub and who isn't. I don't want to defend Mattel, so i'm going to restate a few things that ToyGuru stated. The reason for the sub. is to be as a team finisher line. In 2012, the DCUC line will move to A-list characters only at retail. So this was their only way to give us more fan demanded characters. The thing is, the DC sub. is in danger by being cancelled because of lack of sign ups. All other subs. have passed the min. number needed to move forward, except the DC sub. I know a lot you don't want to commit to it, and I don't blame you. But please re-think that before Monday. We may never get these figures unless this sub. goes through. And I can say that the MOTUC and Ghostbusters subs. have pleased fans very much over the years. So i'm sure everyone will be happy with DC. Please help the fandom out and support this line. Here's some info about what figures are in the sub. Poison Ivy was also announced: Every month starting approximately April 2012, you'll be automatically shipped the Club Infinite Earths figure. About every quarter, you'll also be shipped an "oversized" figure. You'll be billed as figures ship. Figures revealed to date are 6" Atrocitus, 6" The Flash 1 and 6" Starman. |

Already put mine in. Here's hoping it happens.
The more and more I thought about it, I decided that I wouldn't get the figures I wanted any other way (still no real guarantee) so what the hell. I figure I can sell the ones I don't want. |

I hope the selection is better than what happened with the Mattel WWE Legends winners on MattyCollector.com. Only one of my candidates (King Kong Bundy) made it through out of 5. I can't believe the other four that got in over Million Dollar Man and Tito Santana. Diamond Dallas Page doesn't even belong in a WWE Legends set. They should make a WCW Legends set and release one figure for each promotion at the same time. Oh wait, this is a DC discussion forum. Oops. LOL.

I can't even remember how much 6" figs were when I started collecting. The first Marvel Legends I bought were some clearanced out ones from Kmart (the Onslaught/Villains Wave - with the Vs. System cards). So yeah, I was pretty late into the "game". Was also in high school with hardly any money....
Well, I placed my order a while ago - I personally never gave it a second thought. Last I checked, we were at about 50% - and climbing! Anybody who's still on the fence, check out the articles that Prowl 2009 is dishing out over in the "Up-And-Coming DC Universe Classics!" thread. |

I looked, read different articles, read what fellow arkers said. I still cannot pull the trigger and probably wont. I'll probably just end up selling my DCUC figures and make more room for Legends. It saddens me though because I just feel DC doesn't get the popularity that it rightfully deserves.

Got my sub yesterday. I figure I can always sell the figures I don't want and at least my favorite new toyline in awhile stays around a bit longer.

With approx. 8.25 hours left to go before the deadline, the tally is a flaccid 61% sold of the minimum number of subscriptions needed for Mattel to move forward with DCCIH.
If Mattel isn't going to be providing them, hopefully there will be some good DC Direct figures coming soon. Other than any DC Direct figs, 2012 will give us Mattel's DC Reboot probably to consist of four repaints of Supes, Bats, & Wonder Woman in her new black yoga pants. a leap from 55% to 61% is a rather impressive leap for one day.
Just wish it had come much earlier, and there were more jumps like that. Too many people holding off until the last minute, combined with two many people thinking this is some sort of money grubbing conspiracy, sadly, is killing what is very well our last chance at having the guys we want. I said it before, this is why we can't have nice things.

Nope, I think it's about the DC Universe being so big that most of us middle-class income people have to be choosey about what we buy. Voltron, MOTUC, and Ghostbusters have a much smaller "universe" so if you buy the subscription you're very likely to be happy with almost everything.
When a wave comes out, we get to choose what to buy. Wave 16, I got Robin and Riddler. Wave 17, nothing. Wave 18, I will buy all (don't want Bronze Tiger but I will buy him to complete Apache Chief). Wave 19, Stargirl and MAYBE Sandman. Wave 20 Hawk, Dove, and Red Arrow. I get to choose! There's a lot I don't like and I don't have to get them! I'm guessing that with the sub, from the characters revealed, people don't like more than they do like. And since it's all or nothing, we'll go with nothing. But I'm optimistic. Hopefully Mattel will realize that a subscription is not their only avenue. They can do themed subscriptions, multipacks, store exclusives, online exclusives, mattycollector exclusives. . . Look at Marvel Legends. It's languished for a few years. Some two-packs have trickled out over that time, some store-exclusive waves, and now it's making a full-on comeback. Young Justice 6" figures retailing at $20 - $22 surely won't do well. I'm going to guess the reboot stuff won't do well either (I know I don't plan to buy any of the characters I already have in DCUC). So once DC gets this reboot push out of their system, hopefully they'll come back to this. It'll just take longer than we'd like. And until the economy comes out of the toilet, my wallet could use a break. :-) |

Just wish they had some way to stockpile the figures like BigBadToyStore's Pile of Loot feature. I'm happy to wait 3 months per shipment and do the ship when ready method. The $8.95 base shipping cost per figure is too expensive. I'm better off waiting a few months or having it shipped with another large order. When you buy 2 or 3 figures, it's still reasonable since it's only about $2 for each additional item but $8.95 on one figure, way too expensive.

Well, subscriptions are officially sold out and the DC sub barely passed 60% mark. Sucks.

Have they officially announced that the DC Club is not happening? That whole meter thing they had seemed like a ploy to entice people that were on the fence more than anything.

There is going to be an announcement from Mattel later this week, which makes me think they'll go forward with the club. If they weren't planning on it, I am sure they would've said so as soon as the subs closed down.
