Hey thanks for reading,
DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS! I am so tempted to open up these figures i have was wondering if anyone thinks they will be worth big bucks in years to come if they stay in there packages??? I know how some items that have been re-issued never have that much value... Second is what is the Most sought after figure?? or shall we say hard to find? Not many released that kind of thing?? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! |

I'm not sure about the long-term value of DCUC toys, but in the short term the poorly distributed waves will certainly command higher-than-retail prices. And of course, the more popular the character, the higher the price if it's hard-to-find.
As for the most rare, that really depends on who you ask. For me, the rarest ones are Gentleman Ghost and Joker, simply because I never see them on the shelf. I see their wave-mates all the time, but not them.

Basically anything that was store exclusive (Wal-mart Wave 5 and 10) or convention exclusive (Lobo, Wonder Twins) I would either buy two (maybe three) one to open and one to keep in the box or resell at a later point. Basically the figures are too good to keep in package and you really miss out on all the detail but if you're buying them as an investment to sell later than yes, focus on the exclusives (some people are charging $500 for a set of Wave 5 BWA-HA-HA-HA) since they really had piss poor distribution despite Mattel, Target and Wal-marts protests and the lesser known figures like Gentleman Ghost (i still haven't seen him).

In the long run, just my opinion, I am really cautious of the collector value of action figures released in the past 15 years. For example, Maleboligia from the McFarlane Spawn series was a highly sought after figure and sold for between $50.00 - $100.00 on the collector's market at the time of it's release for months, and now, 16 years later, probably sells for around 1/2 that if not less. I really do not think these figures will hold as much value as the Ebay sellers are currently commanding once interest dies down you can expect the secondary market value to drop. Yes, there will be exceptions the aforementioned exclusives, but overall the prices are going to dip a little. If you want to open them up from the packages I say go ahead because that is how you wish to enjoy them.
Currently, I have been collecting loose and complete Super Powers figures because even though they are worth more carded, that is how I remember and enjoyed them when I was a kid. |
