Would've been cool to see detachable cape parts and a more slender, double jointed build for Batman Beyond.

From what I hear over on the DCD forums they canceled the DC Universe Online action figures. If this WW is from that line, she's been axed along with the rest of them. Shame too... she looks kick@ss.

I don't in all honesty know what to think about this.
How is this different than DCUC? Mattel pretty much said we were done seeing these types of characters at retail, and they would exist in the IE Club, while the retail would focus on big named characters only. (Granted, Batman Beyond and Superboy Prime are still recognizable as the two and do fall into that). Now they're saying that the retail line exists to complement the DCUIE club? I'm on the verge of getting upset about this. Batman Beyond- Great to have another chance at him. But I wish they'd used the slender mold, and maybe double jointed. Terry is way different than Bruce. He's a small Batman, who's not heavily built. Would also have been better had he gotten his wings. (That's like releasing Bruce without his came to me) Though they may just not be ready and/or shown yet. Either way, didn't get the first, so he's a must have. Plasticman- Pass. Don't like the character, never wanted a toy of him. Larfleeze- Dissapointed he's not in the subscription, so now I *still* have to fight for him. But he's definately a must have. Superboy Prime- Honestly don't know. Hate the character, and he's not in a version that makes him a must have, such as Sinestro Corps. However, he does look pretty cool. Honestly, I think Mattel would have been better to stick with their orginal plans and launch this line with the rebooted costumes, and get those out of the way. Or at least stick someone from the reboot into the wave. Instead of Plasticman, reboot Wonderwoman or so)

@Tiberious
Don't get me wrong. I'm not upset that the "obscure" types are still present at retail, and I'm not upset that I joined the subscription. I would have joined the subscription anyway. I'm just starting to feel we were intentionally deceived at some point. Assuming that if they were telling the truth originally that there would be no more characters like Plasticman or Larfleeze at retail, this direction obviously changed at some point. Instead of coming foreward and saying so, now they twist their words with "And the retail line complements the DCU Subsciption!"

Yuck. What a waste of plastic. They could've at least done more Flashpoint characters.

I don't know that they every intentionally mislead us. We just took what little they said and ran with it. Retail will be A and B list characters. All-Stars. No more C and D listers like (apologies to all the fans of these) the Metal Men and Doom Patrol. Plasticman is more popular than, say, Negative Man; especially being the Flashpoint incarnation (new, relevant storyline).

I'm glad I'll get a chance at the Batman Beyond figure. Don't care for Prime nor Plasticman. Larfleeze looks a bit blah in terms of his coloring. I'll still pick him up but still looks blah.

I'm not sure what it is, but there's something about that Plastic Man figure that I really like. Depending on what else is out at the time, I might get that. Should be interesting to see who else they make in the first couple waves of this new line.

I think those characters are still relevant to current DC Comics Universe storyline.. 2 from corps war, 1 from flashpoint, and 1 from the new 52..

I so want Larfleeze. Superboy Prime i'd like to see a Sinestro Corps version as well. This better not get redundant, The DCUC had 10 versions of Hal Jordan, 5 Batman, 5 Superman, 2 Riddler, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree. Please DC you have hundreds of heroes Put out something New.

I dunno... what an odd assortment of figures especially since its at retail etc etc... eh well, im still happy I got the sub... just gonna ignore the whole shpeel about DCUC changin' up for retail. More toys = more happy. Win win. whatevs.
That Plasticman is a pass... maybe because I haven't read Flashpoint yet I dont care to own a pumpedup Plastic. |
