No fancier titles, didn't want this to get lost or not noticed.
But, one of the bigger sticking points that has both positive and negative reactions is the discontinuation of C&C figures, replacing them with the Oversized CIE figures. So, I thought this might make for an interesting discussion. What are your personal thoughts? Good or bad? Was the thrill of the hunt more important than the final result, or is the easy way the best? Personal tastes are I prefer this new system. The oversized figures are the same approximate size (and more flexability), in theory we'll be getting the same amount, and they're tons cheaper. You won't have to shell out $120 or more, and you won't have to aquire figures you don't want to complete the figure. But I know there are some out there who don't see it from this way, and lament the loss of the C&C. So I want to hear every point of view out there on this! Personal favorite C&C: Kilowog, Stel, Arkillo, and Chemo. Though mad props to Nekron's sculpting. If he'd had his scythe, and were bigger, he'd be close to the top of the list.

I have Arkillo(HAD to have him!), Kilowog, Validus, and Bane. My Bane has a loose right hip and loose waist connection. I dig all 4, love the subtle weathering and paint washes.
Oh yeah forgot I had Metamorpho. Overall they are cool but some were a PITA to complete. Buying a bigger figure completed without having to track them down via individual pieces is cool with me.

Darkseid, Bane, Kilowog are my favorites. But they are all cool =3. Rather sad that they won't be included in the new retail waves but whatever. They didn't really go out with a bang with Nekron..

I love the c&c figures I've got my favs are darkseid, kilowog, arkillo, n stel but back to topic I think it was fun hunting them down but maybe with them just being considered oversized figures they probably won't be as expensive as c&c figures because c&c figures become hard to build when there r rare figures in the wave n cost a ARM n a leg to buy online

I'm very happy with this new system. Part of the thing that drove prices up on these things was the C&C system because certain figures were near impossible to find to get the odd arm or leg to complete the C&C. Sometimes, you're forced to buy a figure you already had just to get the piece because you previously bought him loose without the piece. Or worse, you had to pay some crazy price for just the piece that was equal to the cost of a regular figure or more. Example of this is Gentleman Ghost to get pieces for Giganta. Another would be Guardian to get the leg for Chemo. Never again will I have to hunt down pieces. Yes, it's fun the first 5 or 6 times when you get that last piece to finally complete a figure, but that's 1 or 2 hundred bucks later and weeks wasted. Hurray for Oversized figures in the DC Club Infinite Earths sub.

I like thechris's comments, but I think I will miss CnC.
I wouldn't have touched various figures from previous waves with a 10-foot pole if there wasn't a much coveted CnC piece in the box. I did tend to get pissed when I found open box figures at the store with missing CnC pieces, or re-packed figures with the wrong CnC piece. And in the other case where the figure is what you want and you couldn't care less for a CnC piece, there is usually a market on evilbay for the piece that will get you $3-$6 back to apply against the purchase price. I am a subscriber, so I won't be missing-out on any of the CIE oversized figs, but you have to think it was a really savvy marketing move to package figs in this way. Can the margins for the manufacturers and retailers really be so tight on these figs that they are still $18 with fewer inserts, fewer accessories, and no BAF piece? |

Though I'll admit that's doubtful.

@bats,
No I don't. And it's not on my agenda to buy one, either.

I have every C&C except a 100%complete Chemo....I need a left Chemo leg...anyone have an extra????
I am upset that they are doing away with the C&C's however I have a Sub. so I won't be missing out, if anything no C&C's should save me some money. I think they should drop the prices a buck or two since there will no longer be the extra piece. seems fair to me. |

I suspect or Fear the Oversized will be Standard Sized unlike the C&C's which varied over the waves (yes I know that Base molds were the same for many {and CJ don't freak here} eg. Arkillo, Validus, and Kilowog or Stel and STRIPE) I love the Vairences between Bane and Trigon.

They have different crotches, different abs, different arms, different heads, and most obviously different chests. Arkillo is stalkier than Kilowog, and more muscular. He has a collar, while kilowog has an open, and heavily sculpted neck. They have a simular silhouettes yes, butwhen you put them side by side they are strikingly different. They share maybe 25%, in the least important parts. If you're going by internet pictures alone, you really don't have any room to say what is or isn't a repaint. If you actually have them, then you really should compair your toys before making claims. I do not have Stripe or Validus, so I cannot compair them, and will not declair one way or another if they're a repaint or not. Though, if you put as much observation into those as you did Arkillo and Kilowog, I suspect they're a lot more different than you claim.

Correct you are. Arkillo has a 40" waist and Kilowog is a 36" [joke, seriously, not actually proportions]. The legs are pretty much the same and arms are the same too. Minus detail here and there that make the figure/character unique. Mattel was smart on this one to make them different in quiet ways.

From what I can tell and what I've seen on all of my C&C's, very rarely do you see mattel use the same parts for the C&C's. yes Arkillo, Validus, Kilowog and Brimstone are similar but still different as stated earlier. Lobo has some of the same parts as Despero, but Lobo is not a C&C...so it doesn't count. the only other two that get confused for having the same mold are Stel and S.T.R.I.P.E, they are nothing alike, they have similar legs thats it.
MATTEL: DCUC COLLECT AND CONNECT - S.T.R.I.P.E. - YouTube this dudes video will prove my point . either way...I could really use a Left Leg for Chemo, right now I have a spare Left leg for Stel supporting my chemo. |

One thing I've noticed... doesn't there seem to be a disproportionate amount of villains to good guys, in the C&C series?
I realized this looking at my collection (Which is largely segregated heroes on one shelf, villains on another), and realized that all my C&Cs were obn the villain shelf. In fact, the only two heroes I have are Kilowog and Stel. (I'm unsure if Atomsmasher is a good guy or a villain). I know of Stel, Kilowog, STRIPE, and Apache Chief, right? And everyone else I think is a villain. Though, aside from other Green Lanterns like Hannu, not that I can really think of very many good guys who could fit into this. In my collection, I have: Kilowog Stel Nekron Arkillo Darkseid Imperiex Chemo Ultra Humanite Bane Trigon Parallax Atomsmasher (Technically. I can't find where I put his legs, which I got quite some time before I aquired the rest of him through purchasing his wave at retail) And Gorilla Grodd (All I lack from him is his right leg)

I've had almost all of the C&C's at some point. Some I sold off -- and now I regret it. I've got Metamorpho (on the way from eBay),
Grodd, Grundy (still unassembled) (don't have Despero, debating it), (had Metallo, sold it, prefer a JLU incarnation, but still kinda regret it), Kalibak (unassembled) Atom Smasher (on the way from eBay), Giganta, (had Chemo and sold it -- I am so dumb sometimes), (had Imperiex and sold it), Kilowog, Darkseid, (had Trigon and sold it, don't want him), Ultra-Humanite (unassembled), Validus (on the way from eBay, might sell him, don't really want him either), Bane (unassembled), (never had a single part of Anti-Monitor), Apache Chief (unassembled), Stripe (unassembled), (debating whether or not I want Nekron), (had Stel, sold him, don't really want him), Arkillo (had one, sold it, another is on the way from eBay), and I've got half a Brimstone that I'd really love to finish. . .need arms and lower torso |
