I know this is a Marvel Legends thread but forgive me for a second, I am beyond furious at scalpers. I was working kind of far from where I live today and there was a ToysRUs. Just so you know this happened at the White Plains ToysRUs in New York. I found Trypticon and I was super happy, sat through a bunch of traffic and I finally got home about 2 hours later. I open it up and somebody swamped it for another figure scalpers are the biggest pieces of shit on the planet.

I greatly appreciate that support! This is why I love this community. It's been a long evening and a very long story lol. Sadly, my local TRU will not accept the return, despite corporate policy and a phone call to the original store. I know who I'm calling tomorrow. I'll have to go back to the original store next week. Fun stuff.
Anyway, great shots of all the recent purchases! Always good to see some cool pictures! Quote:
What's really weird about that is that it looks like the figure it was swapped out for was never removed from its original packaging. Is there any chance it could be a factory mistake?
Maybe it was a good thing. I've heard that they new Trypticon has issues with its hips. Either way I hope you're able to get your money back. Quote:
The Toys R Us exclusive Groot is back in stock for anybody that still wants one.

Whoa that's nuts...
I had a feeling they were saving a bunch of stuff from SDCC for their own con... That sucks keep us updated on what happens at the end, it's almost like you have to just tape it back up and return it that way and not say anything about it until you yourself see it back on the shelf and then let them know what's up... Good point, that could have happened or the person returned it with a For Max that they got on sale is what I'm thinking. Is there an Ollies near you Spyne98 or in your city, I know the Fort Max's were reported at Ollies for $50.00.... I actually saw him at my local TRU for once :P Dang how much is it if I may ask...Speaking of Force, I do hope TRU does get more of A-Force sets in and ships mine out eventually.. I don't think I've seen that actress before... Yeah that Fro, seriously??? I seriously hope they don't plan on having it on her during the movie... Personally she shoulda been cast as tempo and had an appearance next to strife and the rest of the mlf.

Dominoes mutation caused e skin bleach therefore its tantamount to her character. Whatever ethnicity the actress portraying the character is is irrelevant as the character is not caucasian white but more of a ghost white therefore its not racist or inappropriate to make the character appear as such. They can just cgi it if the actress doesnt want to wear the body make up. As long as the suit isnt green or animated.

Agreed...we joke a lot around here, but once things touch upon race or culture, things go from zero to sixty in just a few posts...
If you don't like the casting, then simply say you don't like the casting. Disparaging the actor for the kink of her hair or suggesting that she change her skin color crosses lines. Plus, I don't know what people are seeing, but she's a good looking woman IMO. She didn't make the decision to cast herself, nor is it likely that she twisted anyone's arm to rock a 'fro. I get that this is a considerable departure from canon Domino, but we've seen this so many times before in these movies. I'm not a fan of changes either, but at this point, I expect them. Actors are just people looking for work, the fault lies with the casting director; aim your vitriol at the appropriate target. Edit: Yeah...after the pic Dark shared...she's a dime! i get hollylame changes crap for this forced diversity thing and some characters are kinor enough to be changed and not thought twice on but Domino is fairly well known and its a shame we cant see her in the look most people who will see the film and know the character will recignize her in.

I understand what Nite was saying about the color...WHITE white..not caucasian white. And while the lady def is a looker, when i first glanced at that Domino, i thought it was some "not too great" cos-play. Then when i saw it was real i was like hmmm...not exactly what i'd expect..but its prob still a work in progress. So i get that. Now the other comment about "ugly afro"...smh...i NEVER know with that one because he will say some off the wall shit and think nothing of it later. I think he's just programmed that way unfortunately..lol My only thing is i wasn't clear if he was saying THAT afro was ugly, or using ULGY do describe afros....hmmm... Quote:

I'm a big fan of this casting. I understand this picture, but they could have done better for a first look. How about we hold our judgments until after the movie? We have no clue where they are going with this film. Her look could change drastically by the end. There's no "forced diversity" here.

Regarding Domino, I think she looks fantastic. I think has fans we sometimes forget that these are not the 616 versions of the characters that we love, but are instead condensed reflections. The characters on film can never be or have the experiences that their comic counterparts have had over decades of comic appearances. While she's not 100% comic accurate, I really like the direction they took for a film adaptation.

Its nothing to do with disparaging the actress. Its simply stating the character has harley quinn/joker skin which is termmed as a skin bleach. Simply saying that the character should be portrayed on screen in that regard....not that the actress as a human needs a skin bleach simply the character should have said appearance. If the acteess playing mystique was black would she not, as an actress playing a character, have donned the blue skin make up etc? So that should be the case here for an accurate on screen portrayal regardless if the actress is white black latino adian etc.

to make this quick and not be a huge thing...like our loveable thread tends to end up being a little too often...

It's the casting director and, more importantly, the director that decided on Domino's portrayal. Blast them... |

I understood where you were coming from, Nite. I don't think you meant any harm in what you wrote, but it still elicited a response from me. What can I say, I'm human. Without providing a dissertation on race and American history, know that 'skin-bleaching' and 'skin-lightening' is a real phenomenon within black culture and a byproduct of internalized racism. Now, I don't expect you to know that, many people within my own pan-African culture aren't entirely aware of how pervasive the problem is, but your unfortunate choice of words functioned as a trigger...at least for me. The matter was compounded by the fact that the woman is actually 'light-skinned,' in 'black' parlance. The idea that she should be fairer, even in light of the role she's playing, was an affront. Again, I know you didn't mean it in that way, but now you have an insight that you may not have had before (don't rely on my word for it, google 'skin-lightening and the black community' you'll find that it's an issue outside of black American communities also).
Additionally, my larger point was that hating on her is useless. It's the casting director and, more importantly, the director that decided on Domino's portrayal. Blast them... So of theres angst to be directed it IS at the cating crew and director for going this route with domios character look. If it changes great if not...wellllll.....

Again....i didnt disparage the actress just the inaccurate look of the character. I get its an interpritation of the character but its an inaccurate one when an accurate one is not that hard to do. If theyre wanting a black pfemale merc eith pick a different charact or, ala home comings michelle, make a new one. Now if she does end up getting the more traditional domino look thats fine but im not diggin the look of domino as shown. Also it may have been a weird shot or pic but i saw a poc of cable and his metal half was on the wrong side?

So I took Blade's UPC to Target and scanned it in the machine. The DCPI is 087-06-8560. It's not on Brickseek yet, but that is their number.

What is? Are we not allowed to be disappointed with them not doing accurate adaptations of characters on screen now?

She seems too cutesy to play Domino and all I know about the character is how she looks and dresses. We'll see though.

But that defies the whole point of Domino's character. Her skin is white and that is what it should be. They might as well just call this Deadpool The Last Stand at this point. What is? Are we not allowed to be disappointed with them not doing accurate adaptations of characters on screen now? I think being disappointed with not accurate adaptions at this point is a futile waste of time. Hollywood is never going to make 100% true to source material comic book movie, and expecting them to, is living up to the definition of insanity Quote:

All I have to say on the matter is that, in canon, there's no explanation given for her chalk-white skin tone - not connected to her mutation, or her status as a designed/engineered child, or anything. Which means it was an artistic choice that has no bearing on her actual character.
Which means that angle of argument is moot.

And saying they should use body paint of CGI is wildly different than saying a WoC should get her skin bleached.
