What are some of your favorite prop replicas of all time? What do you currently have in your collection that could fit this bill? What are some of your dream prop replicas you would like to see made? What prop replicas are out there that you want but never got your hands on?
I have a few Force FX Lightsabers that I enjoy, don't have a great way to display them still. My favorite has to be my Matrix of Leadership. It's just awesome, sits right on the center of my mantle. It will never leave my collection. Two items at the top of my dream/wish list are the Cosmic Key from the Masters of the Universe movie, and He-Man's Power Sword from the cartoon/toys. Mattel actually had a Power Sword on display last year at SDCC that just made me want one even more. Last edited by Deefuzz; 03-23-2012 at 12:09 PM.. |

My all time favourite would be a replica of BabyDoll's katana from SuckerPunch, the full length of the blade is detailed with a etching designed by Alex Pardee, which tells the whole story of the movie.

Aw, yes movie replica pieces, be it clothing, costumes, weapons it's all badass, but pricey none the less. I'm a huge Iron man fan and collector, but I can't justify 500-1000 for a brief case or jacket I'd never get to wear, unless I bought a motorcycle. I think 1/1 scale items such as busts, statues, and weapons all have the focal point quality which is the pinnacle of any great collection, there's always that 1 item that's like damn, can't believe you have this, or wow, look at that. I think the Hellboy samaritn gun is like that, or 1/1 scale mark 3 iron man helmet. If I hit the lotto I would definatley induldge, 1st would be a tron bike and suit.

I always loved Star Trek prop replicas, be they toys, or just props.
And in this day and age... I cannot fathom why no one has made and sold us a fliptop cell phone that's designed to look like the TOS Communicators! Even though I'm TNG all the way, even I would have to have that, it'd be so geeky that I couldn't live without it! And in this age of Blutooth, they could also easily make the TNG style communicator pins as blutooth accessories! And why hasn't amazon lisenced Trek to be allowed to make a Kindle e-reader shaped like a TNG Padd??? WHY HAS NONE OF THIS STUFF HAPPENED YET?!?

I have the PKE meter and the Trap replica from Ghostbusters. I also have the Matrix of Leadership from TF and the Voldemort wand from HP (mounted over my bedroom door). I also have the Nazgul Ringwraith sword and the Sword of the Witchking from LOTR mounted on my mancave wall in the basement. I had to choose between the Hoverboard and the Portal Gun because of money, Portal gun won I love the Hoverboard and the Nike Mags, but the only BTTF prop I want is the Flux Capacitor that is out now. STUFF I want to see, SHREDDER'S Helmet from the first TMNT live action movie and the Ooze canister from the second.

I've thought of buying a TOS trek commuincator toy and outting the guts from my fip-phone into it. The very best props I've longed for were from this guy- FANTASTIC FOUR I ant the Ultimate Nullifier and Eye of Agamotto SO. DAMN. BADLY! Hell, since I'm so broke I'm broken, I might make my own Nullifier...the eye would be a bit more tricky, but not impossible... |

Great thread. I have been into prop replicas for decades ever since the late 90s when Sharper Image was selling icons SW prop lightsabers. I was still in high school and couldn't at all afford any of them. But when Master Replicas come out with their sabers....man it was like just being back in that store.
Right now in my small but good collection I have a MR Vader saber from ANH, MR Darth Maul full length saber with custom display, MR Yoda from ROTS, a custom made Luke saber from ROTJ, Luke's saber from ANH that I made, and a unique saber that I designed that I had a custom company make for me. I also have a replica of the everlasting gobbstopper from Willy Wonka. There are so many other props I would love to have; Mattel's Ghost Trap, Dooku's Saber, Wolverine claws, Freddy Kruger glove, Infinity Gauntlet, Mjolnir, the remote control to the BTTF Delorean, and a bunch others. These things do get pricey but IMO they're well worth it. |

While I definitely see the appeal of it, I'd really like to see more "less limited, more affordable" or even "more toyetic" versions of a lot of the prop replica stuff out there. Stuff that bridges the gap like the "Ultimate FX" lightsabers from Hasbro. Or items that are genuinely more like "costume accessories" than just "hang on your mantle pieces." (Like a lot of the video game weapons are impractically heavy to carry around, being made of polystone or whatever).
I mean, I don't cosplay myself, but I'd still love to have some of the weapons from say, the Mass Effect series to "play" with. |
