I disagree. I'm in NYC and I'm all over the place. There have been times when I had popped in on a whim and bought several smaller items..or times I stopped in and ended up Christmas shopping for the little ones in my family. That is a HUGE inconvenience to not provide a customer with a bag an essentially FORCE them to...or else continue to walk around NYC holding merchandise.
I have LITERALLY purchased thousands of things over my lifetime, so yes..this is a huge inconvenience on my part to all of a sudden be required to PURCHASE a bag. Many times (now when I'm seeing business practices that ONLY benefit the store/company) I wish i could take my business elsewhere....but for particular items...sometimes it's the only choice. /end Rant ;o)

But now you know your options and can be better prepared. Make sure to have a bag if you're going to be out and about or pay the $1 for a reusable bag. Businesses like this (and especially Disney) only care about getting as much cash from you as they can. Over the next few years, more companies are going to be abandoning the use of plastic bags. So it's only going to get worse. Best to get used to having a bag handy for when you need it.

in case anyone wanted to see the entire page..
and for the life of me I can't recall where I've seen that Stormtrooper before.. I KNOW I've held it in my hands and looked at it..but didn't think it was worth whatever the cost was at the time. However if I see it while it is on sale...I'll cop...Mostly for those effects... |

Yeah, but in a time when brick and mortar stores are constantly loosening business to online retailers, youd think they would avoid inconveniencing shoppers. And as far as carrying your own bag, some stores don’t allow you to walk around with a bag, and there is the problem with shoplifting, or, on the other hand the perception of it. What happens when you have to bring a duffle bag to the mall to go christmas shopping, and someone wants to check your bag? Do you have to pull out every receipt and remember every item and where you bought it? I could see this as a big turn off, especially to people who buy a lot of stuff.
It's not about inconvenience. Companies are looking to reduce the amount of waste they are producing. Plastic bags are an easy target as it not only looks good on paper, it reduces the amount of money they are spending (don't have to buy hundreds of thousands of plastic bags a year). Companies like Disney will look to profit off that, just as they look to profit off of everything. Carry a bag, or don't. That's your choice to make. If it's not possible, then it's not possible. You know what they're doing, you know the options that are available and how to avoid paying them for a bag.

AGAIN I SAY WITH CERTAINTY... if consumers took a stand against it with their dollars..(if it was that important). Watch how they WOULD provide bags again with some other explanation of why it's not bad for the environment, or the bags are bio-degradable, earth friendly, edible, or some nonsense or fancy term someone made up. Our spending dollars are sooooo powerful...too bad it's not used to our advantage enough. I'm gonna start carrying Walmart plastic bags in my pockets at all times..heh.. lawd knows I've got hundreds of them. okay..i'm gonna stop talking about bags now....ha Last edited by Augustus_Cole; 10-23-2018 at 08:49 AM.. |

IT IS EXACTLY ABOUT INCONVENIENCE..TO THE CONSUMER. Companies aren't looking to reduce waste. They are looking to do WHATEVER it takes to 1. increase those capital gains 2. keep up some facade of how they care about the environment.

Consumers will not take a stand, especially "collectors". You've admitted it yourself. You're not going to stop shopping there. If people aren't going to stop giving them your hard earned money, why should they care that you're unhappy about shopping there, so long as you're still shopping there?

It 100% sucks man. I agree wholeheartedly with it being about lining pockets. If you have to shop there, don't feed the newest level of corporate greed.

I can also attest to the bag thing. At all the Target and Whole Foods stores near me, getting a bag is an extra few cents.

Got a Phasma to open and Zuckuss to hold on to for when I get some of the other bounty hunters later.

I'll probably swing by my local Disney store sometime and pick up a couple of Stormtroopers if they have them. They look neat, and I'm digging the effect pieces.
