Steven Moffat is my God.
I gotta say, really looking forward to Vampires of Venice, Smith is incredibly funny, and Gillian is very entertaining. Let's hope they keep it up!

Yes. The new season is blowing me away. Even my wife loves it, and I've never been able to get her to watch before.

I love it so far, besides the minor mistakes, and I don't mean the weeping angels jacket scene.
I'm talking about where the mouth is on the beast below. |

Which, interestingly enough, he said he couldn't do in Bad Wolf. So what's so special about Amy that he had to break his own rule?

Vampires in Venice was ok...except for that ending. Jesus, that ending...
Amy's Choice looks hilarious though.

He can't cross his timelines cept when he does. The difference with rose was that she changed an event. Doc 9 traveled into his own timeline too.

Although I did notice that 10 technically crossed his own timeline to go see Rose one last time in The End of Time Pt 2.

Amy's Choice was hilarious. That last shot was honestly really the best part of the episode though, I'm fairly certain it's setting up a certain villain in the future.
The Hungry Earth was pretty good too, I thought it set up the next part perfectly. Can't wait for next week's! Interesting. Totally forgot about those two.

The Hungry Earth was pretty good too, I thought it set up the next part perfectly. Can't wait for next week's! Interesting. Totally forgot about those two. But in the weeping angels case, he didn't change an event that already happened, in fact if that really was him time traveling into it, he's now a fixed point in his own timeline to where he'd have to since he is an event that has already happened to give Amy the confidence to survive. Time travel gets heady like that. In theory you can observe your own timeline, you just can't change it, but if your interference is what made your timeline happen the way it did, then you have to interfere. What's got me confused now though, are (highlight for spoiler)the effects of Rory in the opening episode being different now that he never existed. That means Prisoner 0 couldn't have been caught from Rory's cellphone, as Rory doesn't exist in time anymore. So does this mean Prisoner 0 happened differently, or could still be free? So far I'm loving the episodes, but so many new questions are popping up. Including how can time be re-written? In theory it always could, but at what cost in doing so? Butterfly wings. And yeah, I loved the Valeyard/Dark Doctor nod. Can't wait for him to show up someday. =D At least this finally puts one thing to rest. Rose's human Doctor who was born in genocide, is now definitely not the valeyard. They won't use that scapegoat to avoid it. Hopefully this means come in the next 2 regenerations we'll see the birth of the Dark Doctor! *Edit* The problem with Rose's Dad is as Follows. Rose changes her own timeline with the doctor to travel back twice to see him die, and saves him. Nullifying their own timeline of the previous visit, creating a paradox as the previous visit already happened before she saved him. Nullifying those events, and becoming a paradox. Now with Pete alive in this timeline, her entire life happens differently, to the point she could have never met the doctor, which makes her traveling back in time to save her dad impossible, and the entire thing becomes an even further paradox. The same happened in the first Master finale with the end of the universe humans coming back in time to replace current humans. This creates an impossible paradox, as since the future is changing the past, the future won't happen the same, therefore they can't travel back to do what they did, and it's another paradox. In this case, the master knew this and had built a paradox machine to circumvent it. To avoid all this mess, the doctor just doesn't do it. Like with the runaway bride. The doctor says he couldn't change Donna's timeline to take her to her wedding to get it right. Which is sort of a lie actually, since she disappeared from the wedding, he can travel to the point she disappeared at, as no one in the timeline would know the difference till she called her mom to tell her she was on earth. At that point she can't go back. As she'd inadvertantly be calling her mom as she's at the altar. I think he was also worried that second donna would have teleported into the tardis of that time just like first donna, and bam paradox yet again. The Hu-on particles would have doubled up as a magnet because of Donna and the tardis attracting the same donna all over again. Time travel is a really heady concept that creates issues when not handled right. Last edited by Snowflakian; 06-08-2010 at 02:23 PM.. |

Sometimes if it's a really bad cliffhanger, I'll stoop to other means. But I always balance it out by still watching the US airings, and rewatching, and rewatching thanks to DVR. The UK is now 3 weeks ahead instead of just 1 or 2, so it gets even more unbearable lately. But since it's keyhole tv, I don't think about it either since it's such a LQ standard for detail. Hungry earth is a 2 parter, after that is a self contained ep, and I already forgot what the UK is airing this saturday. Keyhole tv is a japanese application many people use to watch worldwide live tv streams. Half of it is legal, the other half not so much. Some formal outlets use it in Japan, and some not so formal streams are ran too. All of it is live tv as it airs, unless some fan ups streams of his desktop and shows he or she have dled. This you can usually tell by the quality of the stream, the name of the 'tv channel' and if it has commercials or not. I use it mostly to watch kamen rider when I remember, but since who is on around noon for me in the states, it's easier for me to remember to check if the live stream is up. Since it's BBC, they don't formally use it. So it's an unauthorized stream when it's up. But sometimes other countries use the app too, like Swiss SF2 who experimented with it for awhile. Oh! My wife had told me that the UK is always on the same episode we are this season. That's not the first time she's been wrong. Thanks, guys.

Now it's 3 weeks behind because of Memorial Day, and BBCA doing a scifi marathon instead of the new who. Remember to support your local affiliate that carries it domesticly though! Don't kill the show because of impatience and DLing it instead of actual support. |
