Who else wants a 13 Doctors boxset for the 3.75 inch range? I'm talking like the 11 Doctors set for the 5 inch range Character made back when Matt Smith first became the Doctor.
What I would like from such a set is obviously Doctors 1-7, a more movie-like 8(they could just tweak the new NOTD one that's coming out), 9 and War, not sure what I'd change about 10, but I suppose the glasses head sculpt on the normal release body would be a decent variation. An 11 with a face sculpt more akin to the one with the Fez from the DOTD set, but with hair, and maybe some changes to his tie sculpt. I remember some good prototype images of 12 that I'll have to track down and share, but that would be cool. It'd also be great to get some of the display stands, since this IS a boxset. What do you guys think? |

Here's the 12th Doctor prototype: The one on the left is far superior to the figure we got.

Yeah I think they dropped the ball on 12s head. With the 5" I'll be swapping out his head with the head given from Xmas special.
Wish they'd speed up the 3.75" figures. And give us a damn 9th!! Sheesh. |

Maybe it's because it's a British line that no one cares about. It's not made by a huge company like Hasbro, and it's not a massive line like Marvel Legends, so us Brits just quietly wheel it out when appropriate, then release them in shops with no fuss.

It's the same with the 5 inch figures. I barely managed to see what they revealed at SDCC. Character really needs to be more open about their reveals.

Why should they be? We don't get any big reveals specifically in Britain, and Character Options has revealed all they have to reveal, just not on a massive SDCC scale, and Toyark didn't do any reporting of it. And they didn't even go to SDCC. They're latest reveals were at Toy Fair.

Hey guys were in a business but we're not going to promote them! It's up to you to find out that we make this product! That makes no sense. |

Doctorwhotoys.net is where I get my info on figures.
So I have a 5" 10th doctor figure out of his jacket and no glasses. When looking at him compared to the 3.75" figure of 10 out of his jacket and no glasses he looks better almost shape wise than the 5". I'm not sure exactly what it is but I like the 3.75" a little better. I can't place my finger on it. |

Well if you don't promote, how do you expect people to know? If people don't know...how do you expect people to buy? I mean that just seems like bad business practice.

They do promote. We in England get plenty of promotion, be it adverts or just the fact they're in every toy shop and supermarket you walk in to. Just because you can't find them wherever you are, doesn't mean they aren't promoted. Character did very well back when America couldn't care less about Doctor Who, and they'll continue doing well even if only Britain buys their products.
Just my opinion maybe right maybe wrong but if I was in charge of marketing for them I'd try to have something for every availible for any and every venue possible even if its to rehash news from 6 months prior.

They'll probly do adverts when the new season starts on BBC america. That's what they did back when 11 came to be. I think movie guy isnt saying their gonna fail for not doing more to advertise here but how do they plan to grow without advertising outside their normal marketing area. Word of mouth can any go so far especially in a business that has new competion for consumers money constantly.

They don't need to grow, they've carved themselves a little niche by being the only Doctor Who figures out there, so there's no competition. If you want to buy a Dalek, you'll buy a Dalek. You're not coming home with Snake Eyes. They've been selling these figures for 10 years now, they know what they're doing.
I don't think it's much to ask for for me to walk into a Walmart here or target and see a 3rd doctor whether it be 3.75" or 5" figure with a shelf of monsters and other doctors next to batman figures. No instead doctor who toys here are sold in places like who North America and alien entertainment or comic shops, cons and online. That's not how you run a business. When you limit your product you don't sell very much which makes you not make much money which makes you fail. It's been around for 10 years and that's awesome. The toys are becoming more and more scarce and on eBay more than anything. A site where bbc does not make profit. And didn't they announce they weren't going to be making very many 5" figures anymore? Now we've had a 5" Clara, 11th doctor snowmen figures .11th doctor with switchable heads Christmas figures and soon a 12th and a curator figure. |

Hmmm I just don't agree with that my man. No offense. But there's a reason why Matel and hasbro are Giants.

These characters are icons of British television, Character Options caters to those fans. Funnily enough, I have to use eBay to buy most of my Marvel figures because we here don't get even half what you Americans get, and when it does come here it's for twice the price because our currency is worth more than yours. It's nice to have a line exclusive to this country.

You seem to forget when I said the toys are everywhere, therefore not scarce at all. They haven't limited their product, they're selling it the way it's always been sold, and they make more than enough money.

You know because these are icons to America and Warner and Disney should cater to us. Lol yeah no argument from you except a tantrum and selishness. Terrible buissness Advice too. Goodbye . Have a great one. |

I will say as an American and a Who fan, since the Tennant run I think Dr.Who has become a lot more main stream now, they have some offerings at k-mart, hastings, video game stores, and most large chain book stores like BAM and Barnes and noble, with both stores maintaining inventory and having large tables and shelf sections devoted to the doctor. I will say I feel a lack of enthusiasm building over here over the new doctor. (I think it's because he's old).

3.75" DW I've seen in TRU for the past few months was this alien thing I forgot the name of that's on clearance for $5. And yes, the lack of enthusiasm of the new Doctor has gone through the roof. A huge portion of the DW fanbase were the people who were obsessed with Smith and Tennant. The only people who stayed for the ride after Smith were the true DW fans. I think it's because so many people are used to a young Doctor and all that stuff.

I absolutely love the new doctor! He's my favorite by far. 12 all the way!!! I know we're getting at least 2 ,5" ones. But in my opinion they aren't amazing. I'll still buy them but that head sculpt could be better. I mean they drastically changed it from the Xmas special head to resembling nothing like him. |
