Not a Freddy fan, but I gotta say that figure is nonetheless amazing.

The clear plastic used for the cross in the head works really well. I simply used a mirror to reflect the light into the back of the figure and it light up like an LED.

Some great shots Joe! Really highlights this figure's strengths.
I'm content with the first ultimate Freddy, it really is my ideal Freddy figure. Even ignoring the movies themselves I think his first look is his best and most future looks didn't even provide much change from what worked. I like Freddy more than Jason but I see myself having more Jason figures because his appearance actually had notable changes throughout the series.

I've used this site for a few years now but I finally had to register as a forum user to say the photo shoots on this site are absolutely phenomenal.
As a mint on card collector this is a great way for me to see more of the figures I own but don't open. I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time NECA have released a standard Freddy from NOES 3. Previous versions had the chest, or syringe hands. This is their first fedora/glove Dream Warriors Freddy. The paint scheme also seems a bit bright and I mean that 100% as a positive. The jumper really, well, jumps out at me. A nearly perfect figure - possibly the greatest 7" Freddy ever made?... |

As to whether it's the best or not that completely depends on one's preference of Freddy. I for one prefer the darker, more serious tone of the original but there are plenty of people who prefer the more colorful, playful Freddy introduced in Dream Warriors.

I want to see how this compares side-by-side with the originally released two versions of this figure. I know articulated legs are the biggest change, but is anything else different?

NECA should start cutting you checks, because your photos make me buy their toys even when I already have multiple versions of the same character. Awesome shots.

Good day sir and thank you very much!
NOES is definitely my favourite film of the series, but I think this look is more familiar to me. When I think of Freddy I think of this look. to be fair though, both figures are equally great but like you said, it just depends on which 'look' you prefer. The first ultimate Freddy is brilliant but I really wish they found a way to add the extra long arms in there. Its one thing i regret about selling my original version of that figure. |

Unfortunately, I don't have the original releases in hand to do comparisons.

Haha, that would be awesome. I'm just happy to be able to showcase some stuff, and hope people enjoy what I'm doing. Make sure to tell them you bought stuff from these shoots tho.

Welcome to the Ark longtime lurker!

I for one prefer the darker, more serious tone of the original but there are plenty of people who prefer the more colorful, playful Freddy introduced in Dream Warriors. Freddy design wise, I've always loved his look in Freddy's Revenge. The movie itself is nowhere near the top. But Freddy looked so purely demonic. And I loved the more intense looking scarring as well as the blades coming from his hands later in the movie.

Movie wise, the first Nightmare On Elm Street is still my favorite of the series. It's still holds up as a terrifying experience throughout. After that, Dream Warriors is second with the rest well below that for me.

It just occurred to me that this is the second time you and I have had this conversation I'm pretty sure it was when they revealed the 1/4 scale part 2 figure. I don't think Freddy ever really looked bad until the remake because then they decided to go all realistic with the burns so I just felt sad looking at him, and not sad in the look's benefit.

"Oh hey guys what if Freddy's actually innocent and he wants revenge for being wrongfully murdered?! Never mind he did do it, he is still evil." Jackie Earl Haley can play a terrific kind of crazy (I loved seeing him in Preacher as a recent example) and instead they just had him mumbling around like an actual burn victim or something. I never thought the remake would be good but I didn't expect such a complete waste of time.

Cool looking figure, and I dig the accessories, but enough Freddy figures already NECA. That's like his third or fourth in a little over two months. Where are the Friday the 13th figures? They have BARELY touched that license at all, while focusing on giving us Ultimate and Mego versions thus far of nearly every Freddy look in the book (save for the remake, which I wasn't a fan of either, but I actually liked the original figure.) And when it comes to different looks and appearances throughout the films, Jason has Freddy beat in spades. (Not counting looks that Freddy had for only a moment of screen time in the films, like the surgeon's outfit.)
Jason needs some more love, and while I'm appreciative of the new Ultimate coming up, it's not really that much of an upgrade (or an Ultimate for that matter) considering its the same exact figure they released roughly four years ago with a few new accessories. There's so much that has been untouched. Where is Ultimate Bag Head? Child Jason? Roy? Demon Jason? Uber Jason? Manhattan Jason, hell...Pamela Voorhees even? Come on NECA. I know I'm not alone in this thought process. |
