I wonder if they'll tower over the ToyBiz figs, a la John Wick.

Gimli looks great, Legalos looks good but a little awkward in the body, maybe he'll look better posed.

Beautiful! Sold! I only hope they go deep and go to the hobbit as well.

I'll be happy if they just do the main fellowship characters, but given DST's history with cancelling lines after just 1 or 2 waves, I have my doubts we'll get the full main cast, let alone all the secondary characters. And I bet they won't even touch the Hobbit films unless the LOTR line is a massive success.
I'm still sore about the one and done waves for Pulp Fiction and X-Files, and not finishing the Muppets or Star Trek when both just needed one more wave to round out their main casts. Last edited by ShabbyBlue; 04-13-2020 at 09:44 AM.. |

I imagine they're going to do the entire Fellowship since you get to build Sauron with all the pieces. I'm personally happy to stop with them and Sauron, I'm not buying anything Hobbit related or extra characters.

It depends, their 1st John Wick is huge, but the next one is significantly smaller.

Does Legolas not come with his Swords/Fighting Knives? That would be disappointing.

Yeah the BBTS listing vaguely just says each figure includes a Sauron build-a-piece and "weapon accessories". So it is still possible Legolas could come with the daggers.

One of the great tragedies of the end of toybiz was the lord of the rings line ending. Never would I believe we would have had so many characters. Then the failure of bridge direct to even complete the dwarf company in 3.75” let alone the 6” scale was a giant joke.
I hope these go deep, I hope we get the hobbit figures in 6-7 inch scale. I have these preorders and I can’t wait. A83DE9DA-58F3-4AB7-90AD-50808D301C45 by Comedian Horseman, on Flickr |

The only thing I need to see are scale photos with other 7" figures. After John Wick being like 8" tall I'm done buying DST sight unseen.

The removal of double jointed elbows (especially on Legolas...an ARCHER) has removed any interest I may have had to get these.

The Toy biz figures are going to be tough to beat, they had good articulation, accessories, paint and detail. I can't see myself buying these given DST's track record. I think the company is very poorly operated. Been waiting YEARS for the Star Trek Reliant ship after they revealed it and still no pre order for that. It's been like 5 years! No idea what they are smoking.

I just have almost no faith in DTS finishing the fellowship unless the Saouron BAF is spread out over like 5 lines like the GB set were. IF Saouron is only over the first 4 or 6 figures I feel like the line will die after that. So I have a hard time committing until they say they will make the whole Fellowship. I am tired of DTS never finishing sets. I stuck with the GB figures the whole line , 10 waves!! over what 4 years??, and I am shocked they finished.

I'm in for a preorder of these guys, look pretty good to me; I do wish they had included the elven cloaks with them and made gimli's helmet removeable, both of which toybiz was able to achieve 20 years ago.
The inclusion of Gandalf the white on the packaging gives me some faint hope, I hope this line sells well and we get deep into the characters (are horse and rider packs too much to hope for?) |

Just a shame really, agree with several earlier comments. Renders were better, the in package things look like they're missing some paint washing/details in comparison. Guess its hard to ask for a detailed accurate well-articulated 6-7 inch scale figure. Guess will have to keep on waiting for some other company to hopefully land the license.

Looks like the first series to build Sauron is:
Legolas/Gimli Frodo/Ringwraith Aragorn/Moria Orc Pretty good, but hardly "building the fellowship" I hope they continue and these sell well, there's a ton of build a figure potential what with the Troll Varients (armored/cave) and Treebeard ofc. |

Dude, I must say that the figures are lackluster, at best they are just "OK", but this is DST we are talking about and for their standards they're acceptable. Too bad they dropped the double elbow and knee joints, I can also understand why they dropped the elven cloaks, but I can't justify they dropping the Legolas' daggers.
Now let's see how many waves this collection lasts, without a doubt my biggest fear, as many have already mentioned, is see them canceling the line after the first 3 waves. Last edited by 29yracSrM; 02-22-2021 at 04:50 PM.. |

I’m still excited but we’ll never have this again. Never.
