My body is ready for this. Loved the first movie, loved the Neca offering, cannot wait to see more from Diamond.

I'm excited for these and I hope they scale well with NECA's older stuff. Also hoping they'll come with cool set pieces like some of their other Select lines do.

Excited to see stuff for the first film. I like the Gypsy Danger design better from that one. The other new jaegers look good

The Kaiju will be interesting considering the amount of plastic DST usually uses and that great price point. I am in for all I can get to be honest.
I hope they have a great showing as I am a big supporter of DST. I still hold out hope they are willing to do some Kung Fu figures such as the 36th Chamber, Five Deadly Venoms, and various other Shaw Bros. properties. I really like DST's outside the box approach to everything and willingness to try new properties, especially their movie lines. |

Two things I like about this:
1.) They're not gonna break easily or right out of the package or while safely standing on the shelf like NECA's figures. I saw reports upon reports of Striker Eureka's hips shattering and Knifehead or Otachi's joints crumbling by just sitting there undisturbed on a desk or shelf. I saw Tacit Ronin's ankles snap because of how thing they made it's ankle joints. I though I could safely avoid it, but as careful as I was (very), I still experienced it for myself: https://www.instagram.com/p/xC7VvkwK...erobotassassin You wanna see how BAD Neca figures can get? Click these links to my Instagram and go through this horror-show of a gallery: https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsEYJth...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsEkm7B...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsEvqfh...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsFGQSB...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsFbfgB...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsFhfrh...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsFwG2B...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsF4eYh...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsGGM_B...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsGpK9B...erobotassassin https://www.instagram.com/p/BLsH8vUB...erobotassassin 2.) They're fully painted and not like NECA's where they eventually release fully painted versions under their "ultimate" banner. We went through MANY Gispy Dangers until the "Ultimate" (what a joke that was) one finally came along with every detail painted. So this is really nice. I wish DST good luck. There's only up from the rock bottom Neca left us at. Last edited by netkid; 10-04-2017 at 07:48 PM.. |

I never had this happen and I got a decent selection of their jaegers. I heard too many people complaining about the line's quality so I won't deny it but personally I went unaffected by the issues.

Wonder how much of a difference there will be between Bandai Tamashii's Gypsey Danger and Bracer Phoenix versus Diamond's offerings. I will say that I love that Saber Athena.

Yes please. These look amazing! Even better than I had imagined. I just want to know how they feel and how involved the engineering is on these bad boys.
And since Diamond Select is planning on tackling the Jaegers from the first movie anyone up for some new versions of Crimson Typhoon or Cherno Alpha (NECA's attempt was great, but those hip joints on Cherno bugged me. They stuck out too far compared to the movie model.) I'd also like to see a Diamond Select rendition of Raiju, Karloff and Meathead or even a Build-A-Kaiju Slattern! The last one may just be a pipe dream though. |

I bought 4 figures and had 2 break on me right out of the box. My Boat-sword Gipsy Danger and my Coyote Tango figures are fine. See my post above to see the 2 that broke or were defective. Tacit Ronin was just poorly designed by Neca at it's ankle joints. They are too thin to withstand moving them. Their Ultimate Gispy Danger is to date, the worst defective action figure buying experience I have ever encountered. It's one thing to have something wrong with a figure, but 10 things!?!?! That's unheard of. I swore off buying any more of their past Pacific Rim figures after that ordeal. Bandai, other Japanese companies, and DST all the way for me baby! From my personal experience, Neca had it's shot and failed miserably. It didn't have to be that way, but that's what happens when you don't extend the quality and care found in your sculpts into the durability of your products.

I don't troll. I own many other Neca figures, mainly Predators and Aliens. I have encountered defects with a couple of those too, but nothing as bad as with their Pacific Rim offerings. I still buy Neca figures to this day but I was very disappointed in what I experienced with the Pacific Rim figures. Believe me, I wanted them to be just as fun and enjoyable as their other products. Sadly, that was not the case.

The other 1, AVP Predator, you really liked. So you're judging a company (that you probably never bothered to contact) on 1 figure?! Gimme a break. |

Yes the Ultimate Gypsy was the worst Neca doggie. It looked great, I had 3 of those things break on me before i gave up.
Neca knew this and Neca pretending like it was was not so was awful. I have so much stuff from Neca snd DST and Diamond Select has never NEVER broke. |

I have their Portal figures and while Atlas and Peabody look great the execution of the engineering left much to be desired what with all the joints that snapped or were randomly glued together for no apparent reason which eliminated necessary articulation. On the other hand their Kaijus are always on point. I think it shows that they really excell in their creature sculpts/ human figures, but they are weaker when it comes to more mechanically involved sculpts. Not knocking NECA by any means, but I can understand where some have been frustrated. If nothing else this will be a great opportunity for Diamond Select to rise to the occasion and improve on what NECA has accomplished. |

I bought most of the NECA line, and though I didn't have nay breaks, I was extremely careful with those figures and knew breakage was eminent for a few of them if I was not careful.
There were too many reports of breakages for it not to have been an issue. I like NECA, but do feel they have a reputation for QC issues and Fragile figures. I've experienced a few of both with other purchases, and as a result have shied away from the company as of late. Back onto the topic off DST Pacific Rim figures.... I'M IN! I pre-ordered the Bandai ones, but I really don't need both lines. I can't decide if I should cancel the Bandai line I prefer the paint and bulk of DST figures, but the Bandai figures will probably have better articulation.... decisions, decisions.... |

I didn't have any issues with neca line, except they were hard to find for awhile

I'm confused, what's the point of these? The Robot Damashii ones have better articulation, better engineering, more accurate sculpts, cleaner molds and gypsy avenger is the same price, the rest are $10 more but at certain shops cheaper, but they're still easily worth that much more. So what's the benefit to these? Maybe size, if you prefer larger figures, but even then a 1 to 2 inch difference doesn't make up for everything else being worse.
I also can't imagine them being that much better than the neca ones. They were bad, too. If the appeal is the sloppy paintjob that makes them look like they're 7 foot robots, count me out. Also attempting to compete with bandai on robots just sounds silly. Last edited by Lalam24; 10-08-2017 at 02:58 PM.. |

The DST one's have a much better paint job, they are larger, and are about $5 cheaper. They are $15 cheaper ($15 total) if you buy the Toys R' Us verison with less accessories.
Bandai probably has articulation going for it. Smaller size could be a plus if you like that. Both seem to have ample accessories if that pic ot DT's Gypsy Avenger is any indication. Both are apparently going fairly deep in the line, Bandai has solicited 6 robots and one Kaiju. DST has solicited 3 robots, and shown one kaiju, as well as anounced 2 more Robots, and said they'll make robots from the first movie and make more kaiju. DST figures are usually pretty durable. I am not sure about Bandai's at this pricepoint, but I think they should be fine. One person at NYCC said Bandai had a touch and paly even and that the Gypsy Avenger figure he messed with seemed nice, but the hips were loose. He also said that the DST versions were probably more in line with NECA's offering size wise (if someone wanted to continue that collection). They both have thier pro's and cons. Perssonally I like the looks of DST's much better. I'm going to buy those, and I may buy the Bandai too for those figures I want better articulation for if I find DST's too be too lacking. Figures like Athena who probably should be very well articulated, and any figures who one company or the other does not make. Comparing Kaiju, DST's looks better to me. |

The sculpts are still accurate to the source on the bandai stuff, which to me makes the dst ones a no go. They clearly didn't use the CG sources directly or they just implemented the joints wrong, but gypsy avenger's hips look horribly wide. Also, like the neca ones, the sculpts look lumpy and like some old mcfarlane mechs -- like someone sculpted them traditionally and never sanded down the finish. Robot damashiis are very durable, and as the joints look simplified from usual releases I have a feeling they'll be even more durable. The paint looks sloppy on the dsts, too, looks like the size of a terminator as drybrushing at larger scales for scratches doesn't work. But the final products will look even worse. I'll admit the kaiju being vinyl toys in bandai's line is disappointing, so I can see that as a benefit. But the dst jaegers to me still seem to only have the benefit of size, which, again, is preference and is objectoively worse in terms of weight distribution.
But eithet way I guess I get it more now, forgot people preferred messier paintapps if it offered more weathering than clean ones without any. |

I've collected a lot of DST figures and they are pretty durable I've never had a single break and I've barely heard of any QC issues or breakages online or during toy reviews. Plus the the final product in my opinion more often than not looks just as good if not better than the prototype/ promotional images and DST always packs in their figure with some of the best accessory and Dioramas in the business especially for the price point. This is definitely going to be an instance where we'll all just have to see what the end result is from both companies before we make any final judgements, but I think we all can agree that it's a great time to be a Pacific Rim fan given all the options. Competition with Pacific Rim figures will undoubtedly make both companies produce a better product. |
