Hey guys, I'm just curious as to who some of your favorite artists (professional or fan artists) are. Feel free to post examples of his or her work!
I'll start: EJ Su is probably my favorite illustrator right now. I've always been a Don Figuerora fan as well. I grew up loving Todd McFarlane's illustration work. I'm also a fan of Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow's illustrations. As far as other comic book illustrations go, pretty much the major hitters from history (Kirby, Byrne, Adams, etc.) I really enjoy. Outside of that, I really enjoy a lot of art such as the Renaissance masters. I'm also a Rembrandt fan as well. I'm also a fan of Cubism (particularly Braque), but not for the typical reasons associated with such. I'm also a Vincent Van Gough fan. Last edited by Superquad7; 05-31-2011 at 01:52 AM.. |

Comics - Kirby, Neal Adams, John Buscema, Joe and Andy Kubert, Greg Capullo, Jim Lee, Frank Miller, John Byrne, Claudio Castellini, Geof Darrow, John Romita and John Romita Jr., Simon Bisley, Adam Warren, Dave Gibbons, Steven Hughes, Brian Bolland, Leinil Yu, Mike Mignola, Art Adams, George Perez, etc
I like Alex Ross, obviously he's very technically skilled, but his attempt to make everything realistic makes the characters often look old and bloated. The faker, more superficial approach works a little more for superheroes to me. I'll touch on other mediums later |

Jim Lee is still my favorite but these days I totally love Steve Epting's work. I used to like Greg Land's stuff but lately I even hate to open an issue he does.

No problem man, got any relatives from Bataan?
BTW, did you do any of the designs for the 2002 GI Joe vs Cobra line? I LOVED those designs.

Kenichi Sonada, and I tend to vary on artists after that. Though I'm a huge fan of Mike Choi and Sonia Oback, also humberto Ramos, and J. Scott Campbell.
Really though for me it's a painting to painting, or book to book thing. I have no set personal all time favorite preferences. I either like it or I don't. |
