So basically, when did you guys starting the urge to fulfill or otherwise get shit for other lines that you normally haven't focused on?
For example, I just picked up a Boba Fett because I've wanted one of him for years, but I don't really plan on getting back into Star Wars stuff in general. It was the same thing when I got Animated Blurr, as I didn't really care about others for the most part. I just gained a liking for that figure, so I bought it when I found a great deal online. Similarly speaking, I'm gonna be looking for a WWF/WWE figure of Kane soon, and again, don't really care to get anyone else, even though I'm a big wrestling fan (and probably will continue to be for the rest of my life). I guess they'll be joining characters like Hexadecimal (Reboot), Armon (Mummies Alive) & Knightquest Batman (Legends of Batman) that've always been among my favorites, but that I didn't really care to expand into as far as I have into Transformers. Also (which is kinda the question that prompted my interest to make this topic), how did it impact your interest in whatever your main line or hobby is? Did it simply exist as a couple of special case wants (sort of like wanting a unique figure within the same fandom), or did it seem like a sign/lead to an overall collecting conclusion of sorts?

I strayed away from 3.75 with Marvel Select Hulk and the reissue of the 6in war machine. Then the new ones came out and I couldn't pass on a samuel L Jackson figure. I honestly don't know how I got into mini mates. I just wanted fantomex, and it was supposed to stop there. The few DC guys I have either revolve around batman are classic justice league. I never saw a predator in stores before, I got hooked this latest wave.

Deja vu....
Ahem, I started out collecting movie based figures before I got into TFs in '07 and then fell back headfirst in TFs. Hard. That became my strict focus for a number of years. When the occasional drought would hit inbetween lines later on (or when I was caught up at the time) I began branching out to Predators, DCUC, NECA offerings etc. Collecting the other action figure lines has never really had an effect on my TF collecting, TFs are where my heart and primary interest lies.

iv always bought what i liked, and really never got into the whole line collecting thing,my collection is more driven by characters, and the weird/wonderful figures i find scouring toy fairs/ebay/peoples B/S/T lists, thats why Admiral Ackbar brings death from above,Frankenstein and Mr Wink hit em head on,and eXtra force cause havoc behind enemy lines......
Same here. I have collected certain lines before, but I only bought what interested me from those lines. I don't stick to certain scales or lines. If I really like it, I'll buy it. |

I try to only collect 3.75" - 4" but now I want the BAF sentinel and I dont even collect Marvel Legends.
I think a lot of people were getting the larger Destroyer to go with the 4" Thor because the fireblast and inferno destroyers were way too small. Last edited by JustryGT; 01-14-2012 at 08:04 PM.. Reason: more |

I was into MU for a long time, but picked up a lot of random shit over time as well. I got really heavy into LEGO (but have relaxed on buying them because of the cost/price) and as an extension of my LEGO interests I bought a bunch of the Marvel Mega Bloks characters ---> They're fucking awesome. I have also purchased the Marvel Select Punisher just because of the fact that it is so bad ass, and my DCUC collection is always growing as well.
