Sideshow Collectibles has answered more questions as part of their May Fantacular event. The latest G.I. Joe-related questions focus on 12" figures, as well as other collectors items:
Q: I was wondering if you will be making a line of Premium Format G.I Joe? …. AND …. How about G.I. Joe Dioramas (not just the environments like Recon at Waypoint 12, but full dios)? A: We do have some news to share on the subject of expanded GI Joe licensing. Stay tuned to the Sideshow website, especially around the time of San Diego Comic-Con (in late July). Q: I love your G.I. Joe 12 inch figures. Do you plan on making newer characters like Cobra Red Ninja, Ninja Viper, etc? A: Thank you! Our design & development teams are really enjoying the opportunity to work on the Joe line! Our initial focus will be on the more well-known and recognized characters. If the line continues long enough, it’s possible that you’ll see more Cobra troopers & ninjas incorporated into the line, but they’re not yet in any stage of development. Would you like to see the Ninja Viper or Red Ninja in the 12" line? Let us know by clicking the discuss button below! |

Daily Star has posted a report on Sienna Miller and her request for Hasbro to make a more accurate action Baroness figure of her:
As she explained: “I got measured in this pod so the doll is exactly to scale, every nook and cranny. They showed me my bald head before it was painted – and it was me! That was weird. I’ll have happy nieces and nephews at Christmas time. My Baroness doll is so flexible too. Her foot can flex 360 degrees. Kids will be killing me, because I am the baddie.” Our man with the bloomers hanging off his ruler, said: “She was so sweet about it. But she politely asked if we could sort out the bottom situation. She’d seen the drawings the team had done and her bottom bothered her a little. It’s the first doll that’s been made of her, so she is so excited and wanted it to be just right. “And it is, now.” The action figure(NOT DOLL) of Sienna Miller as The Baroness will go on sale with other movie toys on July 11th, the nation-wide release of the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toy line. |

TeamXbox has scored new images of the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game for the Xbox360. In addition, they added some information for the co-op mode:
Adding to the adrenaline rush will be an intense single-screen co-op mode allowing two players to easily unite as a team in a classic struggle between good and evil as they work together to defeat the powers of the Cobra organization. Shown in the new set of images are Storm Shadow VS Snake Eyes, Gung Ho, blue M.A.R.S. Troopers that resemble Cobra Officers, and the H.I.S.S. Tank VS Snow Cat. Some of the iconic designs shown could make for easy repaints in the toy line. We've mirrored the images here. Click on the title bar to check them out! |

IGN had a chance to check out the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game for the Nintendo DS. This unique version of the game, makes use of the features unique to the Nintendo DS:
My time with Joe was super-short, but it seemed like it could be a solid DS offering. The multiplayer was fun, you'll get to pilot vehicles, the game was simple enough to jump into and enjoy, and there are Accelerator Suits hidden around the levels to give you superpowers for a short period of time. There are even special abilities you can unlock every now and again like unlimited ammo for Ripcord and one-shot kills for Scarlet. Hopefully, we'll have some more details for you as E3 continues. Be sure to check out our E3 hub so you're kept in the loop --because knowing is half the battle. We've mirrored the images here, click on the title bar to check them out!! |

Business Wire has posted information from the Licensing International Expo with regards to G.I. Joe apparel:
LICENSING International Expo 2009 PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Entertainment & Licensing Division of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS) today announced that it will roll out its largest apparel lineup in the company’s history this year. Working with more than 165 licensees worldwide, a wide variety of apparel items will be brought to market in 2009 with graphic t-shirts leading the charge. Upwards of 20 Hasbro brands will adorn apparel items including t-shirts, outerwear, sleepwear, footwear, babywear, underwear and loungewear at a wide range of price points from under $10 to $80. The first major wave of Hasbro-branded apparel products will hit retail shelves globally at mass and specialty stores including Auchan, Bloomingdales, Delia’s, Kitson, Metersbonwe, Marks & Spencer, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Tesco, and Urban Outfitters in conjunction with the movie releases of TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, on June 24, 2009 followed by G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA on August 7, 2009 from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment, also in association with Hasbro. “We’re working with highly creative apparel companies that have designed some amazing Hasbro-branded graphic and vintage tees that will appeal to both fashion- and value-conscious consumers,” said Mary Lasell, Director of Soft Goods Licensing at Hasbro. “We express ourselves through what we wear, so whether you’re looking to make a fashion-forward statement, seeking an easygoing casual look or outfitting your kids for back-to-school, there will be an array of Hasbro-infused apparel items at retail stores worldwide that will immediately resonate with men, women and children.” Based on fashion industry events held around the world, trend spotters have pointed to graphic and vintage t-shirts as a continuing “must have” item in consumers’ wardrobes. Tapping Hasbro’s globally appealing collection of time-tested brands, more than 30 deals have been signed and another 25 are pending with licensees worldwide in this growing segment. Throughout the year, consumers will see an abundance of new graphic t-shirts landing on retail shelves based on the company’s iconic properties. G.I. JOE In 1964, the introduction of Hasbro’s G.I. JOE line created the “action figure” category. Since then, the G.I. JOE property has evolved, delivering a unique brand of action for each new generation. This summer, fans of all ages will see the G.I. JOE franchise taken to the next level with the major motion picture release of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, on August 7, 2009. In conjunction with the film, consumers will also be able to suit up in a wide variety of t-shirts from Falcon Trading (Philippines); Fortune Fashions (U.S.); Jem Sportswear* (U.S.); La Polar S.A. (Chile); Streetwear (U.S., Canada); Up Sky (Hong Kong); and Wilson Imports (U.K., Ireland). |
