Our friend Kit Lau has been busy preparing for the 2014 Toy Soul Convention in Hong Kong. Not only is there an amazing Acid Rain display (more on that later), but an exclusive Raptor Speeder Mk I with Pilot will be available at the show!
The exclusive Raptor has been painted to give it a real "rusted out" look and feel. Kit paints each piece by hand, so you can almost guarantee that no 2 will be the same! The Pilot also features a bit of weather and different accessories, including a red painted mask. Images have been shared via the Acid Rain Instagram Page and have been mirrored here to show you the painstaking process of creating each custom masterpiece. The Booth setup at Toy Soul Hong Kong is absolutely amazing, with new product on display. Of not is the upcoming BEAVER Industrial Mech, Laurel Mech Suits and more! If you find yourself at the show, make sure to pick up one of the exclusive Raptors as they're sure to sell out quickly! You can check out our Raptor Speeder Mk I Review or you can head on over to Big Bad Toy Store to pick one up for yourself! Comics Alliance had the pleasure to interview Tom Scioli and John Barber regarding Transformers vs. G.I. Joe Volume 1 which is hitting shelves early January.
ComicsAlliance: The amazing thing about Transformers vs. G.I. Joe for me as a reader is that it doesn’t feel like it should exist, and I mean that in the best way possible. It has this feeling that there’s no way this book should’ve been approved, because it’s so wild, raw and energetic. How did you get that feeling to come across in this comic? Tom Scioli: I don’t know how you would get to that point with any kind of comic. Just from my perspective, I’ve been doing comics for such a long time and in such a way that’s very different from the normal career path for comics, so I don’t know how you replicate that. I don’t know how many other people are out there that would be able to have that mix of discipline and self-destructive chaotic impulse to get that. I don’t know, John? Do you have any perspective? John Barber: To one degree or another, when you’re working on something that’s company-owned, you have to forget about that when you’re working on it, and I think that degree varies. The whole idea was to make something kind of weird, that went out the window at some point. There was probably a minute early on where Michael Kelly, the guy we work with at Hasbro as their Director of Global Publishing, called and he was like, “This isn’t exactly what we talked about.” He loves the book, but at some point, the idea was going to be safer. It’s not like there’s anything unsafe about this, either, but you want to be able to point at it and say “here are these two things that we put together to make one thing,” and I don’t think you can do that with our book. I think that’s what makes it interesting. Read the entire interview at the Comics Alliance.... [Read More] |

Check out this amazing custom of Prof Appel from the original A Real American Hero Comic Series, created by Hisstank.com forum member mswi!
For those of you that may be unfamiliar with the character, Prof. Appel is the father of Candy, who also happens to be Ripcord's girlfriend. In issue #43 of the original Marvel ARAH comic series, Candy was kidnapped by the Dreadnoks and Ripcord is in pursuit. We later find out that Appel, who is also a Crimson Guardsman, is unaware of the kidnapping. I recommend checking out the issue to find out what happens next! As always, mswi's custom work is top shelf, really capturing the character as one would imagine him. You can check out more images after the break!... [Read More] |

Although we normally focus on our beloved Modern Army Action Figure, we know that many of you are also fans of a little franchise known as Star Wars. As such, we couldn't let the year close out without bringing this to your attention (in case you weren't already aware, that is...but you should be!)
Our good friend, Author Mr. Mark W. Bellomo, has released another must have book to add to your collection. When Star Wars landed in movie theaters in 1977, it became a popular cultural phenomenon and introduced the world to heroes like Luke Skywalker, super villain Darth Vader, Wookiees, Stormtroopers, Droids, Jedi Knights, Starfighters and Lightsabers. The adventures continued with a toy line that soon followed, starting a hobby that still leaves collectors fascinated almost 40 years later. The Ultimate Guide to Star Wars: 1977-1985 is the definitive reference to vintage action figures, accessories, creatures, playsets and vehicles. The book features -
