This is a popular thread over on a few other sites, so I figured it might be cool to have here. Simply talk a bit about a game you recently beat/finished and then give your overall rating out of 10.

Darksiders 2
I enjoyed this one a lot, but felt there were some places where it lost focus. The combat stuff was well done and the upgrade system intuitive and effective. Once you started getting deep into new moves and powers, fighting with strategy became the key. The story, I thought, needed to be a little more focused. Throughout, "Corruption" felt a bit too undefined and you didn't meet the real face of it until very late in the game. Also felt merchants were mostly needless. Enemies and chests dropped a lot of weapons, armor and gear. And I would find more powerful stuff within minutes of buying the top of the line item from a merchant spot. Other than that, the game offers a lot to do. There's a ton of side quests. Also, the dungeons and puzzles offered some nice challenges, without being too frustrating. the voice actors did a great, over-the-top job. But them Music really stole the show here. Plus, the game is long, which I loved. 7 out of 10

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron- 8 out of 10
The campaign mode was beautifully executed with each chapter feeling fresh with gorgeous environments to experience while you reduce enemies to scrap metal. My only real gripe about with campaign mode, is everyone else's gripe too, lack of Co-op play. I understand why it was left out, because the focus on the unique abilities of each character and how they fit into the story would get lost on the person playing as a support character as they played through with you and lets face it...how would one support Grimlock or Bruticus in the way they're played in this game? You don't. Multiplayer is loads of fun for me but I realllllllly hate that in order to be able to use Dinobots or Insecticons that I had to spend $20 more for DLC, which I did because I really wanted to play as them. If anyone else is playing this game on PS3, hit me and Symbiote up with your gamer ID's as we would love to have some private matches sometime.

Journey (PS3)
A very different type of game. No story, no dialogue, just the path in front of you. I loved meeting others that were on their journey along the way. Loved how you didn't find out who they were until after completing your journey. The graphics are quite beautiful, especially the environmental effects. But it's the music that steals the show here. Very well done with heavy violin, and the score for the last leg of your adventure is haunting. I do wish, however, that there was a bit more to do and that it ws a bit longer. I blew through it in 2.5 hours or so. But it's well worth checking out. Overall: 8 out of 10

Um... MDK for PC. 1998. 10/10
Titanic: An Adventure out of time for PC by Cyberflix. 1998. 9/10. Total Annihilation: PC 1998 game of the year. 10/10 best RTS ever made. Dinosaur Safari 1993. 10/10. Those are my favorite videogames ever. Everything else is games everyone has played. I've never actually finished any other videogames, so that's why I chose those. I'm not counting Pokemon. Why? Because I'm always 2 pokemon away from filling the pokedex before a new game comes out. |

Bioshock Infinite (Xbox360) 8/10
It was a solid game with awesome graphics and a fun story, yet it lacked anything that would separate this game from other shooters. I enjoyed playing it, but once I finished there was no desire to ever replay it. |

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus: 7/10
This game used to be my second favorite game, but it's really starting to show its age now....among the flaws are the inconsistent difficulty and of course the graphics. And for me personally, the bad scaling of the vehicles and other things in comparison to the characters. Also, some sequences Carmelita is a giant....it's weird. Sly 2: 5/10 There's some enjoyable things here and there for me, like the improved graphics, and a few of the hub worlds. But for me, the gameplay in this aside from the Murray sequences pales in comparison to the style of the original, and it's sad that they decided to stick with it for the rest of the series. And the difficulty.....God...I hate this game. |

Infamous Second Son: 8/10
I've only played the first game before, deliberately skipped the second. I think this game is overall better than the original. My biggest problem though is that there just isn't much to do in the open world once you beat the game. |

Can't review everything I played cause that would be long and painfull.
But: --MY TOP 3 / GAMES YOU MUST PLAY (really. If you haven't played yet, do it now.)-- Demon's souls & Dark Souls 1 & 2 - 9/10 Gaping dragon boss fight These games are so different from what we usually play. They have unique vibes. And they are hard. You can't play ''casual'', just like that. You have to be 100% in the game, or you are not going to make it. I enjoy so much their Middle Ages/dark fantasy style. The gameplay also stands out from what we are used to see. And, you know what? I won't tell you more. Go try it right now. And , whatever happens in the game...do not abdicate. Elder scrolls V Skyrim - 9/10 Windhelm at night Again a fantasy-Middle Ages style game. Do whatever you want whenever you want in the huge world of Skyrim - slay dragons and giants, free the Nords from the Empire, forge every possible weapon and armor in the game, then display them in your house, become a thief, a murderer, a warrior, shout Lydia over a cliff just for fun, make potions and enchant your stuff, explore every single location in the game, try to complete all quests, etc. etc. You never run out of things to do. And these graphics are so beautiful. Still a must play in 2016. Shadow of the colossus - 9/10 Fight against Avion I played the remastered version on ps3 a couple of months ago and I was surprised by this game. As an old-gen game, it is impressive. And it is still fun to play. It is always cool to climb onto huge colossi and slaughter them. It is just bad that it is a playstation exclusive. Hopefully I own both playstation & xbox consoles. --GAMES YOU SHOULD PLAY (but I won't cry if you don't)-- God of war III - 8/10 Dragon age Inquisition - 8/10 Need for speed Shift - 8/10 Bioshock 1 - 8/10 Dead space 1 - 8/10 Borderlands 2 - 8/10 Call of duty Modern warfare 2 - 8/10 Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor - 8/10 Dragon's dogma Dark arisen - 7/10 |

Tron Evolution- 6.5/10
I was hoping to give this game a 7, but alas. I really enjoyed this game when it first came out, especially since I'm a big fan of the movies. Back then, I would give it a solid 8 or 9. But it hasn't aged well.....and I suspect the next time I try to play it it will be unplayable. It's still better than most movie tie-ins, but it is still a movie tie-in, and not very good. Here's hoping for a better movie tie-in TRON game in the future. And.....here's hoping TRON 3 sees the light of day. -End of Line- Last edited by Weapon X; 02-21-2017 at 07:41 PM.. |

Uncharted 4- 8/10
I have to admit, when I first played this game I was let down. I've softened on it since. Uncharted 2 is still my favorite, but I can't decide whether 4 or 3 takes my second place. 4 has a better story, but 3 has better locations and action moments. When I first played this game, I felt like Sam Drake was out of place. Drake had never mentioned having a brother before, and his flashback in Uncharted 3 pretty much let us know he grew up alone. So I felt the character was brought out of nowhere and was inconsistent with the story. While I still feel the inconsistency is there, I have come to like Drake having a brother. The flashbacks were really cool. My big complaints with this game are: -Character models are lackluster -Villain is lame and forgettable -Finale not as climactic as previous two games -Sometimes it doesn't feel like Uncharted, probably because Amy Hennig isn't the director. -Game is too preachy, makes you feel like treasure hunting is a bad lifestyle choice, which invalidates the premise of the games. Still a good game and probably the best one I have for PS4. I'm curious but very cautious about the upcoming spin-off revolving around Chloe. We'll see.

John Woo Presents Stranglehold: 6.5/10
This game is old school, has a really arcadey feel, which I grew to love. The action is mindless but a total blast. But there were far too many problems for me to give it a 7 or 8. So many glitches....had to restart the game about 5-7 times. And the game got stupid hard towards the end, had to start playing on Casual and even then it was a challenege. I got the game for $6 so it was worth it to me. If you can find it for under $10, I would recommend it. It's a shame Midway closed after this. Apparently there was a sequel in the works. The gameplay could have been really cool if they had time to improve it over the years.

Horizon Zero Dawn: 7/10
Extremely overrated game, I'm glad to say I didn't pay for it and received it as a gift. The story is the best part of the game, and if it wasn't there, the score would be much lower. The combat is pretty fluid, but whether it was fun depended on what I was fighting. When I was fighting humans, I had a blast. When I was fighting machines, not so much. They're just big bullies that vastly overpower you. When traversing across the world, you can never really enjoy what's around you because you're always getting chased and harassed by machines. Graphically, I was disappointed. The environment looks quite nice, but the characters do not, and animations are outdated to where you'd swear you're playing a PS3 game from the middle of its lifespan. Certain mechanics weren't very good either. Climbing felt like Infamous, which is to say it's not very good, and there's no superpowers here to distract you from it. Sometimes I would miss a ledge and fall to my death, it was very frustrating. The other thing, is that there isn't much to do in the open-world that captivated my interests. Slogging through cauldrons to override machines was not my idea of fun. Overall a mixed experience gameplay-wise, but the story saved it.

Super Mario Sunshine-7/10
I wanted to give this game a higher rating. The production values are incredibly good and the graphics have aged beautifully. There's also nostalgia factor and just some brilliant mechanics and art design. The change to a tropical setting and all the details of the world (like how you can get different dialogue from each Pianta in each episode) is amazing. Sadly though, there were WAY too many times where this game pissed me off to no end, particularly the levels where FLUDD is taken away, or the 8th sprite of each world. I didn't get all 120 sprites this time, though evidently I did once judging by my third save file. I got to 80 and beat Bowser, so technically I finished it. I might get a few more sprites but I doubt I have the energy to hunt down all those blue coins, another annoyance for me. Again, really sad to have to give this a 7, but the level designs are just downright sadistic at times. And especially for a game marketed towards children, that's just not cool.

Not a finishing type of game, ongoing...
Paladins 10/10 - I'm hooked, so much fun. Wish I had a team of regulars to play with though as the match-matching is hit or miss... Always that one player who wants to do his/her own thing instead of assisting the team. |

Mad Max—7.5/10
Lots of fun gameplay, but there are a lot of problems with this game. I've never been one to really talk about framerate, but holy shit did this game have some framerate issues. A few times I almost had to reset my console because its was borderline unplayable. It happened way too much for my taste. My other complaint is how much padding there is in the narrative of this game. Far too often you are taken away from the main story to do hundreds of fetch quests, very irritating. But, when the game does get to its story, those moments are riveting and the story very good. There are some things done in this game's story that I think are better than the movies. Another complaint of mine is that there aren't really interesting side quests in the game, like the stranger encounters in Red Dead. And now for some personal complaints. The story takes an unnecessarily bleak turn at the end. Without spoiling anything specific, this game does not allow Max to find peace. I know the movies sometimes do this too, but this game takes it a step further. Max usually at least ends up saving people and ending on a high note before going back to being by himself in the movies, but not here. Just far too bleak, and I think would have been far more interesting if they had gone an optimistic route, especially since they teased it so much. My other personal complaint is how the Black on Black is taken from you at the beginning of the game and is not the main car. The Magnum Opus just wasn't as cool. They could have just allowed you to customize the Black on Black I think. Okay, I know it sounds like I'm bashing a lot....but I still did enjoy this game and I feel like it has fleshed out the character of Max and his world a bit more while giving fun hand-to-hand and vehicular combat. Thus, I give it an 7.5 out of 10. It was hard to decide to not give it an 8, maybe my mind will change the longer I think, but I just think it had too many problems for an 8.

Uncharted Lost Legacy—8.5/10
Really good, one of the best entries. My complaints are the final stunt piece is a ripoff of Uncharted 2 (and not as good), and Nadine wasn't really held accountable for her villainy in Uncharted 4. Nate and Sam were kind of painted as bad guys for destroying Shoreline which is not valid to me. There are a lot of pleasant surprises in this game, with some of the locations being among the best in the series.

Assassin's Creed III-5/10
I left the series in 2011 after Brotherhood's ending pissed me off and I didn't like where the series was headed. After Origins was revealed I made it a point to replay every game I missed in the last 6 years. This game is a mess. Maybe it was more impressive when it first came out, but it is a mess. I have never encountered more glitches in a mainstream game of a huge franchise. Character designs and animations were wonky as hell. The walk/run of Desmond and Connor looks really weird for no reason at all, they look like cartoons. Desmond's face has also had....plastic surgery....again....and he looks like a monkey. Desmond gets an epic sequence that delivers on what was promised at the end of ACII, but after that his story ends very poorly. Connor's story doesn't really go anywhere. The way his and Haytham's connection was handled was poor and throwaway. There's more story to chew on here than in Black Flag, but Connor is not very likeable as an adult. He was decent as a teenager, but as a man he is angry all the time and very wooden. Also the came has some very anti-American propaganda in it that I did not appreciate. Overall, some brilliant moments peppered into an otherwise bad and disappointing game.
