Ooooohh...very interested indeed. I knew they were planning a jumbo Big Chap modeled after the original Kenner, but it would be cool to see some of the others in the large scale, particularly the Nostromo suit.
Also, I know that the "Can't get Sigourney Weaver's Likeness" fairy has been flittering around the internet for a while, but I've never actually read or seen where that originated from. I'm not doubting it, just wondering how much is fact and how much is perpetuated netmyth. |

^Yeah. I also heard the only time Sigourney Weaver allowed her likeness on a figure/collectible was in the Avatar toys.. as a favor to James Cameron. I believe all this stories about her not wanting to give her likeness.. otherwise, it will only be a matter of money and we would've already seen a lot of collectibles bearing her likeness. Like Peter Weller.. it was only a matter of money so HT got his likeness while companies like NECA, Enterbay, etc. wasn't willing to pay a high price for his likeness.
Ripley is one of the most in-demand popculture character and a toy company would've been able to shell out an SW accurate Ripley by now if it was only a matter of money. Still, I'm hoping NECA will surprise us with a Ripley reveal! Hahaha! I know it's improbable but I'm still hoping. |

Actually on last nights episode of Toy Hunter on The Travel Channel, Gentle Giant requested Jordan to find for them an Original Kenner 1979 Alien 18" Action Figure. He successfully did so although the box was a little worse for wear. He sold it to Gentle Giant for $600. Here's a link to the clip. Kenner's 18-inch Alien Video : Toy Hunter : Travel Channel

Thanks for the clarification, Joe. It's an interesting conundrum, especially when Hot Toys made a Ripley a few years back and her face is on the card backer for the recent ReAction figure(photo and not sculpt I know, but still her likeness on an Alien product). Hopefully the Gentle Giant photo is an indication that things have changed.
