Apparently Dan Akryd has been talking about this for awhile. He says there will be a couple of female busters in the movie, and gave his choices for his fav actresses to play them
Interesting article. |

It's hard to say if this will ever get made or not. As of right now the chances seem alot better than 10 years ago or so because sequels and remakes seem to rule the box office these days.
Even with that said the older scripts for a Ghostbusters 3 movie such as Ghostbusters In Hell and the Animated Ghostbusters movie never saw the light of day, so who really knows if this one will make it. It's nice to hear that they are trying though. Maybe the new video game will give the franchise renewed interest.

Basically, from what I've read within the past year, is that they are really considering the video game to be a sequel, Ghostbusters 3. However, the game has generated a bunch of buzz and with the Hollywood remake machine operating at full force there has been a lot of talk about another movie. The Ghostbusters in Hell idea is pretty much dead and the idea for the new movie would be that the original Ghostbusters would play mentors to the new recruits.
There have been so many rumors over the years, including casting Chris Farley, Chris Rock and even Ben Stiller as new Ghostbusters. Chris Farley, that just goes to show how old the rumors are. Newer rumors include the involvement of Judd Apatow and even the writers from The Office television series working on a story. I would love to see a new Ghostbusters movie. And I definitely prefer a sequel as opposed to a remake. If people show enough support for the video game and all the new toys and product that is coming out then I'm pretty sure a new movie will happen. |
