Just wanted to revitalize this thread, having received Eagle Robo/Leader-1 and Bike Robo/Cy-Kill for my birthday.
These guys are fan-friggin-tastic, and while there's a bit of fiddliness to them, their transformations are actually really nice and complex without being overly complicated and frustrating. Can't wait for Turbo Robo/Turbo and Shuttle Robo/Spay-C to get released.

So, did a bit of research in regards to what other figures could be produced in this line, given that they're only doing 'Revenge of Cronos' characters for now. Looking over who they've already done, it would seem that the amount of plot importance/screentime doesn't really matter for who Action Toys produces, given that Eagle Robo didn't do a whole lot in the series (as an individual).
Current releases/coming releases:
Shown Prototypes:
Other major and minor characters appearing in the series:
Not listed are the Battle Robos (Kendo, Karate, Judo, Wrestler, and Kenpo), as their vehicle modes were more 'shells' that they wore, which makes me question their potential inclusion. Thoughts? Characters I missed? Think we might get a red-and-black version of Porsche Robo?

I'm surprised that we haven't gotten Blue Jet yet, since it was one of the main three heroes.

Most of the Rock Lords and Jewel Lords were in the Machine Robo Revenge of Cronos series as well. So it may be possible we see figures of those as well.
I am hoping to see pre-orders for the next batch of figures soon. If we don't have anything posted by June, this line might be done. |

His Japanese name is actually パトカーロボ, which is Patrol Car Robo or Police Car Robo, depending on the translation - The official Bandai documentation calls it "Patroll" Car Robo, but they suck at spelling more than I do. ^ Thanks for the info. Since I'm more attached to the GoBots characters than the toys themselves, I can probably avoid those three without feeling guilty.
Jettranser looks like he would have made a great addition to the Dread Launchers that were in the GoBots line, though. Last edited by Scaleface; 04-16-2017 at 08:33 AM.. |

The first two waves of Rock Lords and the Jewel Lords all appeared, along with Fossil Saurus and the Stone Wing vehicle. They did not have the third wave of Rock Lords, the Action Shock Rocks, the Rock Narlies or the Rock Pot.

Double Machine Robo are a lot smaller than a Dread Launchers, but same idea, and they were released as GoBots in Europe: as the Robo Machine Combinators. The Combinators are among the few official GoBots toys never to appear in any fiction though. Sad. Even Jim Sorenson, when he was doing Fun Publications GoBots stories, was trying to include all the missing GoBots overlooked them, because he didn't know they existed! I think the other official GoBots not appearing in fiction were the bubblemen, the Arco Binoculars and Destroyer, A-Tak the train, and the transforming kids scooter. |

I spoke with the Action Toys rep, and they will not say, but last I heard it is coming.

The existence of 'Rock Lords' always reminds me of the scene in 'Big' where the Tom Hanks character complains to the marketing executive about a transforming toy that transforms into a skyskraper... "But it's a building. It doesn't do anything."
Marketing Executive: "I've got it! Robots that transform into.. rocks! The most INANIMATE of objects! Can't you picture it? 'Ho Brikkee - the evil forces of Volkanus approach - I shall transform into a rock so you can throw me... or just leave me where I am so they walk past - whichever suits you best!'" Boss: "If this were Hasbro or Takara and we were talking about Transformers. You'd be clearing out your desk by now. But since this is Tonka / Bandai and these are Go-Bots spinoffs, I'll just say... great idea. My god. We really are desperate." Having said that... I loved them as a kid, so the power of toy + transformation + simple characters + cartoon + youthful acceptance will always win out in the end! Last edited by Lionheart; 04-16-2017 at 04:34 PM.. |

I haven't had a chance to get Blackbird Robo but any word on the next wave, I think turbo was supposed to be in it.

Nope, no news yet. Turbo, Spay-C, and Fitor may be the next wave if the line has not been cancelled. Those are the remaining ones from the original 9 figure line up that was shown over 2 years ago.

Wondering if this begins to be the end of the smaller scale figures. It´s been a while since they released anything and I don´t see these figures have been a sales success at all (Just like Bandai Thundercats, but maybe I´m wrong) |

these i would buy with my eyes closed. in case someone doesnt know, these were the 'Original' transforming robots, Transformers copied everything about them and it took off more than the Go bots and the rest is history, the reason why the Transformers exist is due to the Go bots..... #RealTalk #TransformersOrigins

While the Go-Bots brand hit North American shores 1st, their transition from Japanese toy line to US brand was quite quick. Transformers had a bit longer gestation period. Machine Robo, the line that gave birth to Gobots hit in 1982, with the Gobots brand debuting in 83. But Diaclone (1980) and Microman (1970's), the lines that originally made up the Transformers first years of figures, hit much earlier. The transforming Diaclone figures actually wound up hitting the same year as Machine Robo in the US.

If anyone has missed this over the years, here's a video of the Tokyo Toy Show 1983 where many of the toys that would become Transformers debuted. A Hasbro rep was sent to this show to scout potential licenses to import to North America.
