And there's our confirmation on the Hunter reissue I expected, nice.

Lady Maria looks amazing, this will be quite the expensive piece but well worth it I hope.

Looking at those figma OW figures... I'm ready for Hasbro to show us what they got.

Figma is a great line, but they really fall short whenever doing video game figures based on western properties. Those Dota2 figures. That Yasuo from League (shudder), and now these OW figures, which aren't terrible, but with so few accessories and barely any interchangable parts, soft face sculpts and only decent articulations...

Just stick to doing anime figures GSC. Come on.

Sigh, they are still showing off TP Link and Zelda, but no Gannon to go with them.

I am not amazed by the job GSC does on the Overwatch line either but in comparison (and now we can do a comparison) I still prefer them. Granted there isn't much but a decent amount of different pair of hands, the sharp sculpt, great paint job, the range of motion in the articulation and the very clean and sharp faces are still what makes them a leaque above Hasbro. I mean just look at the Torso articulation. While it's a good way to make your figurs bend down and back it's cutting right into the belly of the figure. It's a very visible joint, especially on Mercy. I am a big fan of Pharah and I am really not pleased with the lack of accessories, especially with only 1 faceplate (same with Mercy) but Hasbro doesn't give me any, which is completely okay if I just want a Pharah on the shelf and that's it but for more it's not good enough.

Personally I think it's great to have variety and competition, so I don't mind Hasbros line at all, i.e. I really hate that GSC lacks in the effect department. They can't put enough of it with their Nendoroid shipgirls but Pharah, who has a rocket launcher, not giving a rocket launching effect? Well that's cheap.

Both have their pro's and con's, for me the pro's of the Figma line still outweighs the pro's of the Hasbro line and I really hope GSC will continue to make western figures. I would by a Witcher Ciri figure in a heart beat.

I am so damn happy they're doing a second run of the Hunter figma, I hated having to cancel my preorder of the first and have had zero luck finding him after the fact. Definitely want him and the weapon set.

First, welocme to the Ark!

Second, I think it'd be crazy if the Figma Overwatch figures weren't better than Hasbro's offerings simply as a principle of price. To get Mercy and Pharah from Hasbro costs $50 (based on Gamestop's price which does usually go higher than regular retail) while getting them from the Figma line is at least $150. I still intend to strictly go Hasbro as a money-saving effort but if the Figma ones weren't overall better toys that'd be a real head-scratcher.

Thanks for the welcome.^^

You are right, it's a matter of price and I think Hasbro's products are overall okay for the price. In Mercy's case I would even think about getting her if she would be avaible without Pharah, just for the beam that is pretty neat looking. I also think that GSC is going to be careful with the pricing now, when all they do is putting the very basics in the case as they pretty much do with Mercy and Pharah.

It's all a matter of balance, some want all the characters fast and cheap for display, others want it as accurate as possible maybe only a single character and therefor don't mind a long waiting time. So now we have something for everyone.

But I do think though Hasbro did an awful job on 1 figure and that's Tracer. She's okay in the video but what they have on display is pretty bad.

Still patiently waiting to see a Figma Breath of the Wild Link, and a Twilight Princess Ganondorf would be great to see.

I think the issue is partly the target audience as well. Figma is exclusively targeted toward collectors. It’s never meant to be played with in the traditional sense. But Hasbro target market is mainly the audience that might play with the figures, with the collectors being a smaller audience. So as a result, the Hasbro ones can be very sturdy and have sacrifices made on paint quality, sharper sculpts etc.

So it’s probably going to be the case that OW Figma pricing will be higher. BUT, I think there is more of a chance that they won’t sell out at the price with Hasbro ones out there, and end up getting some deep discounts on Amazon etc.

I'm with you. Of course, I'm also waiting for Ridley (like come on, he's even a playable character in Smash Bros, now's the best time to do one) and some space pirates.

Also we're getting 2-3 OW Figma a year or so? Assuming demand stays high enough to justify them continuing the line it's going to take a decade before we get the full roster.

Hasbro figures are a third of the price and the first wave has as many characters as Figma have announced in the last two years. If nothing else they will make cheap stand-ins while people wait for Figma to make a premium version.

Too bad that Tracer is too big. I would swear I saw her in the Oasis. Would go with the other RP1 figures out.

Can someone explain to me how licensing works here?

I'm assuming since Good Smile Company makes Nendoroids of almost any property out there, they could do the same with Figmas. Why don't they?

Licensing for Figma and for Nendoroids are likely two different licenses. When licensing a specific property, unless you are the master toy license holder, it is for one specific product type (highly articulated action figure, retro style action figure, statue, bust, stylized figure, etc.). For each type of product, a company would need to negotiate with the license holder.

Licensing, in general, is extremely complicated, and varies property to property.

Okay, that makes more sense. Thanks!
