Howdy Folks,
I am considering adding Captain America to my collection of 1:18 action figures, and I want to solicit from you your suggestions: Which 1:18 Captain America is the best? I am a fan of the film, but I have not read the comics, and as such a figure that's loyal to the comic book aesthetic would probably not be best for me. Presumably, then, one of the movie figures would be best, but I know there are several variants. Further complicating things is that the paint apps on the Captain America figures were wildly uneven, so if I eventually opt to score one from eBay I will be at the mercy of fate, where paint apps are concerned. Incidentally, I have always liked the SDCC-exclusive WWII Cap figure, but I hate the exposed neck articulation. Anyhoo, if you could chime in with your preferences and suggestions, I'd certainly appreciate it. Cheers, Monte

I wasn't aware that there was a new MU version. Do you have a link, by chance?
Thanks!

Thanks! That one looks a bit too cartoony to stand alongside my Joes, but I'll keep him in mind.

If you like the winter soldier costume the Steve Rogers cap from MU fits well with the joes, its not really a traditional Cap costume it's his post death dirrector of sheild outfit. that or ultimate cap from the avengers movie line comic series.

I'd say the MU Steve Rogers figure is the best "toy" version of Steve in that scale to date. As for which one to have standing next to G.I.Joe figures, there's two ways you can go about it:
1. G.I.Joe "Fantasy Land" - Basically following the more fantastical elements of Joes, like anything from Cobra-La, Zartan and family, the Dreadnoks, B.A.T.s, Crystal Ball, Raptor, Big Boa, Dr. Mindbender, Zombie Vipers, etc. For this, go with MU Steve Rogers (Director of SHIELD). 2. G.I.Joe "Realistic Land" - Pretty much all of the Green Shirts and any Joes/Cobras that match up with real-world special forces units. For this one, I'd recommend the the first film's WWII/Battlefield Cap (wave 1) or his Super Combat version (wave 2).

If you want a movie-based Cap with a nice paint scheme I would try to get the one from the "original Avengers concept" 4-pack that was part of the Avengers line. I like the colors they used and the paint apps were pretty good on most of them.

So I googled "geek creek captain america" to find the photo that appears below, and google also retrieved this thread, which I don't remember, and which features replies for which I clearly didn't receive email notification. Sorry, folks. (I'm sure you've been losing sleep for three years wondering why I hadn't responded).
Never did buy a Cap, but I got that one free from a friend. I don't do much sixth-scale collecting, but I'd kill a kitten for the Hot Toys Rescue Cap.

There's the new Civil War Cap figure that comes with his motorcycle if you're still looking.
Personally I like the one from the Winter Soldier line that is the same as his Avengers uniform but without the sidearm holster and is a darker shade of blue. |

This one is the best MU Cap altogether imo, and he fits right in with Joes. This is the SDCC version, there's retail version that has a green harness and boot covers. They both go for about $20-$30, just search marvel universe WWII captain america. |

Years later, I think the newest MU/MI version is the best stock version:
My favorite kitbash is Commander Rogers with the Cap 2 movie shield and a Cap head: Boy I need to dust. And the most underrated Cap is the khaki desert warfare Cap: Last edited by Psycho Pirate; 01-28-2016 at 05:19 PM.. |

Thanks for all the recommendations, folks!
This is my favorite, too, although I hate the exposed articulation on the neck.

New member here so don't know how to post pics yet but IMHO for Classic Cap the one in the Captain America First Avenger line and for movie version the Infinities Civil War Cap with motorcycle wins hands down (even with the slightly oversized gloves but they are a relative easily customisable fix).
