My first NECA figure and I gotta say , I absolutely love it. I wasn't expecting the articulation this bad boy had. Great assortment of accessories. Definitely worth the $20 I spent on it from Gamestop.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm looking at the Ben Tramer head and thinking it looks almost exactly like the 1978 Myers mask (minus the blonde hair haha), wonder if it'd be easy to do a hair swap and have a passable '78 version...

It apparently is very easy to swap the hair. Heat it up really well to loosen the glue. It requires a bit of painting to cover up some areas, but I’ve seen a couple people on Twitter do it.

I absolutely love this figure, I think overall Neca nailed it. It's awesome to finally have a classic Myers in the collection of horror ultimates. For now it's the next best thing to having a proper '78 Myers. If I'm not mistaken I believe this is the first time an official H2 "Warlock" version has been made.
The Tramer head is very close to being a '78 mask, I'm guessing that was intentional. There are even sculpted glue lines hidden under the sideburns. The one thing you have to watch out for when buying him in person is the eyes. Some of these have bad cases of either a lazy eye or both eyes looking to one side. Oh, and if you end up with a copy that has "one leg longer than the other syndrome", it is fixable. You have to heat the thigh with a hairdryer and pull the leg completely off of the hip joint, leaving the joint itself still attached to the body. Then reheat it and pop the leg back on all the way. My only major QC issue is that the hinge holding the skull inside the pumpkin was cracked in the packaging and it snapped off on mine after opening and closing it a few times. I've contacted Neca but so far no response. |

I also had fun taking pics of mine the other day (they're in the Horror thread). While I still hope NECA can acquire a 78 Michael, they need to at least do Laurie from HII.

Still, I'm willing to bet if they released a Michael with a thinner, taller body and a different-shaped mask/head and labelled it a Halloween II or Halloween '18 figure that the legal department of whatever company wouldn't know the difference. Look at all the Pinhead figures that are supposedly based on Hellraiser III while they still somewhat resemble Pinhead from the original or Hellbound. It looks like they are filming "flashback scenes for the new Halloween movie, if so I'm sure NECA could get the rights to that movie and that would be their loophole to release a 78 Myers figure.
